- पीएम मोदी और भारत पर विवादित टिप्पणी करने वाले मंत्रियों को मालदीव सरकार ने निलंबित कर दिया है. कहा ये भी जा रहा है कि मालदीव के नेताओं की ओर से जैसी टिप्पणी की गई, उससे वहाँ के पर्यटन उद्योग को घाटा होगा.
अक्षय कुमार, सलमान ख़ान, सचिन तेंदुलकर जैसी कई हस्तियों ने घूमने के दौरान भारतीय तटों और द्वीपों को तरजीह दिए जाने की बात की. सोशल मीडिया पर एक तबका ये कह रहा है कि अब छुट्टी मनाने मालदीव नहीं, लक्षद्वीप जाएं.

Not fair to compare both islands at this juncture from tourist point of view and infrastructure. Comparison may be drawn after few years from now. Worlds best infrastructure will be built on war footing to beat Maldives. Then BBC will shy away.

First thing Maldives did not pay attention to his environment. go and see soil erosion happened on Maldives This is happening because the government has handed over a lot of land to private companies resort has been built. In the resort, good modification has to be done because even the soil seems to be on the resort island. In basic terms, it is sea sand. Where do they bring the soil from? Where the population of Maldives lives on another island, they cut the soil from there and take it to the resort island.

The big picture is not whether Lakshwadeep can substitute Maldives as a tourist destination, but whether it has lost stategic importance to India suddenly. No amt of pushing Lakshwadeep can hide the alarming scenario takeover of Indian neighbours by the Chinese string of pearls stategy. It is not a Lakshwadeep vs Maldives travel destination tradeoff but a much larger stategic loss. Surely the amt of funding and military help provided to Male by New Delhi was not to develop a tourist destination for Indians. Afghanistan, Burma, Sri lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, and Maldives, all are resounding failures of the NDA govt's chest thumping foreign policy approach compared to the success of Chinese financial and low key support approach. The trouble is NDAs misadventurous forign policy is a disaster as far as Indian defence strategy is concerned.
