Sounds like a bit like her doing her Erhta Kitt. She said she used her Ertha Kitt impression for 'Me & I'
If you have heard her solo stuff (example; Wall Street Shuffle by 10cc) and read 'ABBA: Bright, Lights Dark Shadows by Carl Magnus Palm.......
You find out that Frida was considered a master vocalistt by Benny and Bjorn. Also, loved. the stage. She is a multiple Best Vocalist awards. Started were pro singing career at age 13. First noticed in grade school for her vocal abilities, etc...
Her solo stuff is very impressive. Love her Pat Benatar -- Fire & Ice (live '81), Long & Winding Road', The Sound if Silence, Suzanne, Life on Mars,
      Threnody, Beach Boys, etc....

@@danbike9 hello, DJ Regnier, from DEEJAYENPS! Firstly, that's an interesting name you have, REGNIER!Is it French? I have a French watch, called Regnier! (They shortened the name - it used to be called Vuillemin Regnier,). Thank you so much for mentioning these songs by Frida - I never knew she did these, so I will try to find them on CZcams! I heard she recorded a second solo album, but we never heard of it in England
The music industry is like that with EVERYONE, they make a fuss of someone when they do solo work and then think that is no longer NEW. So they don't promote later work, however good it is!

Ola Brunkert, lead drummer for almost every song ABBA made, was one of the cleanest drummers I have ever heard. He keeps an aggressive, yet simple, beat that complimented this fabulous groups already beautiful songs. Ola accompanied them in the background never in competition but also never relinquishing rhythmic control.

  • @empireentertainmentevents1353

ABBA...what more can I say about these amazing Swedish genius song writers and 2 totally amazing Female Vocalists? Words cant describe how brilliant they are and how such highly 'INSANE' level talents can exist on earth. Without Benny and Bjorn, the girls wont have such amazing songs to perform and show their unique Vocals. Without the 2 girls' unique vocals, ABBA songs will never sound as good we know them. They really need each other in ABBA. No band is without any problem and ABBA is no exception. There is no perfection in humans and ABBA members are humans too. Let us all remember ABBA and their tremendous contribution to Pop music History for setting the bar so high for the others to follow...which still cant be matched by any other act...solo or otherwise. May God bless ya ABBA. You are truly beyond words!

That summed it up nicely. Abba is the evidence that sometimes the end product is far greater than the sum of its parts. And when the individual parts are all geniuses in their own rights, then you get a ridiculously fantastic end product. Thank you for the music!

+CHRIS GOFORTH ABBA was so far ahead of its time, that 35 years after the break up and nobody has caught up yet. They were four pieces of a puzzle that fit together perfectly. As usual, the media pushed and shoved them so close together that they couldn't even breath. Marriage is hard enough but when your can't go anywhere or do anything to relieve your frustrations, things eventually come crashing down. Divorce is an ugly word but when it happens in front of the whole world, I am honestly surprised that they had the strength and courage to still work together. I believe the girls were the driving force that allowed them to continue. Both were unbelievably strong and courageous.

    _______
The Swedes had observed Soviet subs in Swedish waters during the 60's, 70's and into 80's. Then it happened.
On 28 Oct 1981, an incident called - "The Whiskey On The Rocks" happened. It almost started a war between Sweden and the Soviet Union.
A Soviet 'whiskey class' coastal patrol submarine - S363, ran aground in Swedish waters, approximately 6-7 miles from a Swedish military base.
The sub had managed to navigate through the very rocky waters, but then got wedged between rock formations. They attempted to escape, but failed. They were stuck!
    The Swedes caught them.
The Swedes sent a team to perform a gamma-ray spectroscopic analyses of the submarine.
Traces of Uranium 238 were detected in the vicinity of the torpedo tube(s).
It was later confirmed that the submarine, S-363, was indeed armed with nuclear warheads.
    _______
ABBA's Cold War songs were released smack dab in the middle of
a major event "The Whiskey On The Rocks". A HUGE story at the time.
'Soldiers' has a Thomas Paine 'Rights of Man' vibe. He warned of the "sunshine patroit" not appreciating the sacrific of the soldier fighting on behalf of his fellow citizens.
Paine could have wrote those 'Soldiers' lyrics -- he actually, kinda did.
    _______
In 1982, the USSR banned 'The Visitors' album, which was released end on Nov 1981. ABBA's final album.

They were always ahead of the curve musically. How many of the early eighties British bands stole their sound from this song?

+Kent Mains Very true, and they're hardly ever thought of as an '80s band - who'd have known what could have been. Also, their stuff from 1972 stands up to anything from the late '70s.

They obviously made an impact on the pop/rock sound as they were so distinct and at the same time so diverse in their genre crossing borders between rock/pop/disco and musicals. In this song I hear much of the sound that later came in the brilliant musical Chess by Björn and Benny.

I always thought this song was about aliens or just being kidnapped, but apparently it's actually a song about dissidents who get arrested in the USSR! I now have a newfound appreciation for this song. Really appreciate that ABBA got political in one of their songs, not to mention just being a super catchy song
