  • We took a deep dive look into the Ape Labs Connect (iOS / Android smart device app) and the ApeRemote. We looked at the basics as well as most of the advanced features.
    All Ape Labs products can be controlled via DMX as well, but we'll go over that in a different video.
    Within app control, there is a currently a Beta feature called "ApeDMX", which we touched on as well in this video. This feature allows users to bring non-Ape Labs branded wash lights into the Ape Labs ecosystem and app control. It uses DMX inputs and settings without actually going into DMX control (control remains on the smartphone or tablet).

    The best part in the video is in the dancing scene. All girls are dancing and a guy opens the door and shouts "RUHE" ! 😀

    How do you create the rainbow "wave" at 8:00min (on a smaler scale of course). I have 32 Maxis. How can you program the lights so that the rainbow effect is "waving"?

      That wave effect was done via DMX. Click More on the Connect app, then "DMX Transmitter". Then use any DMX controller to program. Usually, this is done with video mapping software, but it can be done with any standard DMX-512 controller (it just takes a lot longer to program if you aren't using mapping software). Ape Labs is talking about adding mapping to their Connect app, so in the future, you may be able to do this right from the app. Right now, you may be able to "fake" a wave effect by setting multiple groups right next to eachother, set at the same speed but with slightly different programs (for example, Group 1 as Red to Green to Blue to White, Group 2 as Green to Blue to White to Red, etc). It won't be perfect, but for certain speeds, it can look pretty good....until an update is made to the Ape Labs software or you get a video mapping sofware.

    wish it showed how to use the WAPP with a dmx signal going in so we can see how to control with dmx software

      To use DMX, open your app, Set all the lights to the same group, use the "Devices" (or the "More" then "Setup lights") button on the app to set groups and DMX channels/modes. Once all lights are addressed and on the same group, click "More" then click "DMX transmitter", then select the group you want to be on. If you have more than 512 DMX channels to control, use multiple groups to do up to 4 universes.

    In another video it was mentioned that 2 remotes could give you 8 groups but didn't explain how this works. Can you share this info?

    • @kpodj
      @kpodj  Před 6 měsíci

      Sure. To do this, you'll need to use the Pairing feature. If you have two remotes, choose the lights that you want to be on groups 1-4 and pair them to Remote 1. Choose the lights that you want to be on groups 5-6 and pair them to Remote 2. Pairing is described at 8:34

    Love my 2.O maxis except for blowing out foam crumbs from the charging case after every use. Very non German.

      I agree. We mentioned that to them. Ape Labs has been working on improving their foam. Their new cases are better.
