Live in Toronto, Ontario at The Ontario Place Forum for the Kumbaya Festival on September 5, 1993. This is a clip from the TV special broadcast on MuchMusic.
haha, woops. He said they were about to play Nautical Disaster but they are playing New Orleans is Sinking............oh wait...Now they're playing it..lol
I could listen to Nautical Disaster at nauseam, it's my favorite non-Pearl Jam song up there with Rearview mirror, Black, Jeremy and of course Crazy Mary. Just perfect
i remember seeing this for the 1st time. at home. younger than i am now. staring at my television set. mouth wide open. id never seen anything like it before. my love for music was born that day. my life has been the richer for it.
Thank you so much! I was 16 when I watched this. It was the first time I heard Nautical Disaster and was blown away how they mixed it into the song, so awesome! I'm a hip fan for life :)
Come on.. Who could ever forget Steve Anthony's hair... LOL! Back in the days when the VJ was a kin to an actual DJ... Not long after that, the old time VJ's moved on, and they were replaced with mostly tits who were clones of the MTV generation... Sad. Truly a loss of canadian style culture. Maybe george Strombo and Suk Yin Lee were the minor exceptions. Either way. A classic video performance showing just how tight the hip are and were as a band. Back in their rocking days Thx for posting this
have to agree with yerfucked, hell that song was on when i was still with my first ex wife, And although its a tragic event, Katrina, its not you did not know it was going to happen, Just like the next big one In California.
I was at this show - I refer to when the Hip were the Hip and this is it. 2 years earlier they played at McMaster Univ. in Hamilton - aat the 'Downstairs John' - Cover? $2 - that was my first hip show followed buy 3 on Road Apples tour including above, 2 on the following and 4 on Day for Night. By 1998 when Gord was sober, married and boring - they had lost their edge all together. Gordie - although a fascinating and insightful intellectual, no longer rocks. Anyone else at this show?
Awesome version. Right up there with Killerwhaletank. Greatest rock n roll band in the world.
Concert was 20 yrs old when you commented,
(10 yrs ago).
It's now 30 yrs, and I still agree.
"No Canadian band -- no Canadian musician -- would be complete without a song about a nautical disaster. This song is called 'Nautical Disaster.'"
then goes and plays New Orleans is sinking.
🙃all canadians
I discovered the hip 3 years ago, unfortunately after Gordon passed but god damn I love every single one of their songs
'Nautical Disaster' one of the greatest rock songs ever written. Very underrated.
12 yr old comment, but I bet you still rock to it !
Me too Bro.
back when MuchMusic was worth watching.
"See how hard it is?...See how hard it is?..It's real hard." Haha that just made my day.
haha, woops. He said they were about to play Nautical Disaster but they are playing New Orleans is Sinking............oh wait...Now they're playing it..lol

The introduction is one of the best lines ever.
God... I miss the Forum.
And I sure as hell do miss the "old" MuchMusic.
Best song introduction ever. RIP Gord.
My goodness. I miss you so much.
my memory of this band will never end
haha I knew they would slide back into NOIS
at the end!!
NOIS is a prerequisite for any CD called
'Greatest Rock Tunes of All Time'!!
i remember seeing this for the 1st time.
at home. younger than i am now. staring at my television set. mouth wide open.
id never seen anything like it before.
my love for music was born that day. my life has been the richer for it.
this morning I was younger than I am right now.
I was there for this and it was incredible...first time hearing Nautical Disaster.Great venue also with the rotating stage!
Jeff Heacock what was the event? So jealous of you!
Twenty two years later and I still remember watching this on TV live with my jaw on the floor. Legendary.
If you watched this live it was twenty seven years ago (twenty eight this year)... not twenty two (1993).
@@gmotdot I stand corrected, and depressed at the times that has passed.
Toss up between this introduction and the introduction for Nautical Disaster at Woodstock 99. Think I like this one better.
My favorite band of all time. Period.
Thank you so much! I was 16 when I watched this. It was the first time I heard Nautical Disaster and was blown away how they mixed it into the song, so awesome! I'm a hip fan for life :)
Miss you a lot Gord...
Hearing this band for the first time. (I know, where have I been?) They sound great. Now I got to get some of their cds.

Jaysus, the Forum in the summer was a great place to see a show. And you know, if you you told the kids about it today, they wouldn't believe you.

Pretty cool that they did Nautical Disaster...but more than a year before it was released! A working band if there ever was one.

Holy dick, I wish I had a Delorean. Great performance!
Unfortunately CZcams is the closest we have to a time machine
Was he referring to Bobby Orr when he picked back up with New Orleans is sinking ?
Band
fricking wild, there is only one, can't believe that in Katrina the song was banned from the air waves, they don't get it at all
Well I'd say we have great taste then ! Their music only gets better with age too..

When the Levee Breaks is a traditional folk song. Zep didn't write it.

@eyeqew Calling songs that you like 'underrated' is overrated.
