- NBA Live 10 was the last great NBA Live game. Mike Wang actually left 2K to work on this title, resulting in a great NBA video game. The next year, he returned to 2K, and EA ruined everything.

@@_will795 mlb is by far the most realistic seeming game. i have 2k22 on series S but mlb's broadcast feel and character behavior blows everything else out of the water especially with its sound. 2k still sounds so generic like 2k8 but they atleast have improved at mimicking authentic arena specific sounds since then.

NBA Live's gameplay wasn't amazing, but I always though the game was fairly deep, fun, and controlling your players felt smooth. I loved being able to spend time playing with the international teams. Players actually felt different with Dynamic DNA and online was incredibly fun with Online Team Play and The Run. I spent so many hours on Run and OTP, I remember playing in an OTP league through Operation Sports. Great video as usual.
NBA ELITE 11 base gameplay ironically also carried over to NBA LIVE 14.
One thing I noticed about live 10 was that the Mascot moves around the stadium instead of staying in one spot
Speaking of NBA Live 10, the new March Madness Legacy Mod for NCAA Basketball 10 uses physics and AI from NBA Live 10 to make the gameplay much better.
Just bought NBA Live 2005 for PS2. Its wild how much more realistic a game made with horrid graphics is vs games today

@@shawklan27 2k games have plateaued from the lack of competition, regularly getting low to bad scores from most users lol. Same game every year with no innovation, recycled animations and assets and shitty micro transactions and live service features. You’re telling me 2k is peaking right now?
I played nba live 10 so much I literally burned out the disc so a point where the game would crash or be laggy even offline. The disc was in perfect condition just over worked lol
FIFA 10 also as great as NBA LIVE 10.

I still play Live 10 a shit ton to this day. I even happily bought NBA Live 14 and 15 on launch day, and enjoyed the hell out of them. Sold them when I sold my Orbis back in January 2017.
Live 96, 98, 2003, 06, 08, and 10 are my favorite Lives.
No matter the age of the sports game I am playing (the newest console I own are the PS3 and 360), I like to get around the lack of roster updates by just doing a fantasy draft every time I start a Season or Dynasty.
NBA 2K1 is what made me a sports game player, but the last one I enjoyed was 2K6. Because starting with 2K7, it got WAY too realistic for it's own good. I hated having to learn every player's shooting stroke. It sucked all the fun out. It's a video game. If I want that kind of realism, I will watch an actual game or go play basketball myself.
I recently bought NBA Live 19, and can't wait to start playing it once I buy my nephew's Durango here soon.
This was legit my favorite basketball game back in the day! 2k for real life like play and EA for fun play.. This game is still even really fun today and i will always come back to this masterpiece.
My older sister got this for me I remember there was this practice mode where a whole bunch of popular players at the time were in a gym shooting hoops that memory is burned into my head

I'll never forget the day I got Live 10 was the same day Kobe hit that buzzer beater over Wade. I loved this game a lot but man I was ADDICTED to 2K10s MyPlayer. I couldn't stop playing that for anything. Just imagine if we had 10 years of consistent improvement off of Live 10, the basketball game landscape would look so different now. Instead of 2K dropping a great game every 4 years they would have to come with it every year. What could've been sigh

Just imagine if ea would’ve built on wangs foundation here. I still go back and play live 10 to this day because I love the rosters from my childhood(Kobe gasol lakers) plus I like how different this game stands out. I remember growing up playing both nba 2k10 and live 10 and not knowing which was my favorite.

Nba Live 19 was a good game but it was graphically outdated. I hope they release a new entry because I really like the way NBA live was focusing on attracting a more adult audience.

I don't know if it's just me but I feel that 2k is more realistic but it has a bigger learning curve while EA games are more arcade like but are easier to pick up and play

I personally enjoyed the last two NBA Lives (Live 18 and 19) but they can't hold a candle to NBA Live 10. That was truly the last great Live in my opinion as well.
18 & 19 were fun af. I actually still enjoy 19 for online 3v3

In the rarly 2010’s me and my older brother and cousin loved this game and I can remember countless times us loading up the game on my cousins XBOX 360, this was the last nba game from either franchise that I was super hyped about to play regularly and very much enjoyed, not saying the games now are trash though, they aren’t, but this was just another level of fun to me, and we always loved competing in the warmup screen before the game too 😅😅

I call BS on his idea of leaving. He just wants a bigger paycheck with 2k so he used EA salary grade as leverage.
Seems like sabotage going to your rival elevating them to new heights only to leave them shorty after and watch them self implode. Call it 2K's way of revenge for EA getting that NFL exclusive license think of it EA got hurt so bad 2K has been looked as the superior basketball franchise since.

I never played live 10 as I have live 2005 but Mr. Yang had the right idea then and I wish more had and that competition and having that competition to push you to do better is what’s right

NBA Live had the perfect vibes that a basketball game exactly needed from the menu, shoot around while loading, presentation, atmosphere, sound effects etc. Only thing I like about 2k is the deep customization of rosters and mynba/myleague settings
I'll never forget just loading up into the hanger mode in this game and just sitting in there for hours

I saw someone purchase a copy of NBA Elite at the Midwest Gaming Classic back in 2019 and without knowing the whole sordid story was shocked that a sports game of all things would go for so much.

Nba live 10 is my all time most favorite basketball game, man that game was fun and way better than 2k was. The newest 2ks shooting and defense is so garbage it makes me miss this one even more
Wang was an inside job. He went and took everything Live had and made it stiffer, play live 09, it was a smoother game, especially from building upon the responsiveness of 08’s dribbling. Elite 11 was what live 10 could have been, but then derailed by what changes happened, they were always focused on physics and responsiveness, live 10 took the good of 09, stopped it and added canned animations like 2k. Mike wang is why Elite 11 was a mess, it was an inside job by 2k, not to be commended.

I switched to 2k after Live 08, and switched to FIFA after 2k11. Started playing 2k21 and it’s almost unplayable. I’m waiting for the next live game to play a realistic game of basketball
As soon as I get my PS3 fixed or buy a new one, I'll get NBA Live '10 someday since I enjoy the NBA Live games on Mega Drive, the original PlayStation and the original Xbox.
Live 16 was the comeback game but Live 19 was good too. But they just couldn't hack it anymore.

Mike Wang leaving immediately after Live 10 is what killed Live and put it into a 4 year hiatus.
This was the very last sports game I put all of my gaming into besides Madden... and both were very fun to play that year... man I fucking miss whooping ass on those games and the effort & detail EA put into them. I turned 32 a week ago and I can honestly say I grew up in the "Golden Age" of video games because the shit they put out today is just disrespectful compared to the ps2 or even ps3 days 😞

EA doesn't even try to make games this good anymore. 05 was a literal golden age for sports video games. It fills me with a bit of dread how that was 18 years ago. I was a single man playing these games for money, now I'm married with kids, still popping in NFL2K5 on occasion just to play a sports game that actually good.

I never played this Live 10. A friend gifted me NCAA basketball 🏀 10 for PS3 now i want live 10.
NBA Live 19 is fire though.
I still play it here n there just to play 3v3 online. 3v3 lobbies today still fill up within 30 seconds and you load into the game! I much prefer that than waiting for an entire game in 2k to finish, just for the other team to leave, or people just won't play with you because they don't know you..
Wanna know how awesome upgrading players is? Okay, it takes about 1-2 weeks to get a player from creation (70 overall) to 99 overall 🔥
This part is AMAZING: once you get just one player to 100 XP, EVERY single player you create after has the ability to start at XP level 50 which translates to 86 overall 🔥🔥🔥 and there's even a glitch where you can start them at 97 too. And no microtransactions!
...that being said, it took me a bit to get used to Live's movement having played 2K for so long. After i got used to Live though, movement in 2K started to feel weird lol.
Especially playing as a max height & weight big in Live with traits that makes my player run faster than normal, going to 2K as a big after that feels like I'm stuck trying to run in mud or something
