Hi guys, I hope you all are doing well! I've been filming a lot of dance covers lately, and this week I wanted to share how I learn and film kpop dances at home. I usually don't have too much free time, so this is what I do to learn the dance fast but also getting the choreography right. I also included some of my best tips & advice for learning kpop dance at home and are beginner friendly. If you're someone who is trying to learn kpop, I hope you found this video helpful!

I learn choreos pretty fast but it takes me so long to make it look powerful🥺🙄
I think it took me about 9 months of consistent practice before my moves started to look more powerful. I always record myself when I practice and that really helps me pinpoint where I need to work on :)

best tips that i use as a beginner:
1- pick a very easy song with easy moves like twice's tt or signal as a start up. learning harder dances as a first will not only make you hurt yourself a lot while trying to learn, but also unmotivate you because you don't think you'll be able to do it.
2- watch the dance at least ten times again at a slow speed (i usually do 60% to 70% but you can do however you want) this is just to get a brief idea of what the moves are going to be like and i guarantee you that this makes learning the dance way easier to memorize later. it's also best to do this before sleeping or in the evening.
3- it's your choice whether you want to start over or try to perfect the dance move you're struggling with. for me, if i keep starting over, i'll start from doing good and then start getting sloppy at the end from starting again so much.
4- take breaks when you need to. practicing for so long will make you only confused at the end. i recommend dancing less than two hours because not only you're giving your body a rest, but you're also giving your mind and muscle memory time to really take in the dance moves.
5- learning the beat. if you hate having to break your neck while turning around and looking at the dance practic/performance/fancam to see if you're getting the right timing, you can count it or use weird sounds if it helps. for me, i prefer making random noises instead because the counting distracts me from the actual song, and professional dancers also usually do this when teaching.
6- if you're learning arm movments or leg movements first, don't perfect it before learning the other. this will make one of them look better when you're doing the dance and it's only going to be harder for you to fix it. just practice each seperately a few times until you can do it and then do the legs for a few times, and then try to do them together.
7- take it slow. you don't need to learn a whole dance in a day or make it perfect in a day. the dancers you see on youtube have been dancing for a long time so they have more experience thus can pick up and do harder dances more easily than you can. it's ok if you did terrible on the first day, there's always a tomorrow. you don't have any deadline or anything pressuring you, unless you have a performance.

This platform is getting really competitive making smaller channels hard to grow, but it makes me so happy just making videos and I will keep trying my best 🥰
My tips -
1. You should start with dances like TWICE tt and blackpink hylt
2. Watch the dances in slow motion two three times first
3. Do stretching before learning a dance
4. Don't over practice (I know k-pop idols do that but it's unhealthy)

Bts is my inspiration for dancing i dance bp because their dance practice are perfect for beginners
My first ever dance is ktl
It took 3 weeks to learn
And my next dance was D4

My personal tips :
~Focus on 1 member because if u focus on everyone its easy to get collapsed
~there are many utube channels who post tutorial
I learn from ellen and brian and imlisarhee
(I'm not promoting their channels I'm only sharing my experience)
~start from a easier choreography because if u start with hard u can't do it and u lose ur hope in dancing

You can try recording yourself if you have a phone or a laptop! I also danced in the bathroom before I saved up for the mirror and that can work too :)
Recording is the best option . I don't have a mirror too . I mostly do the dance myself first . Then I record . And further improvise .

Personally, I use a google chrome extension that allows me to mirror CZcams videos without downloading them! Super useful

I'm dancing in front of my big window. I mean, window is behind me, and it makes me completely black, when i record it. Only my moves are visible, not my face. It helped me a lot, and now i don't need to worry about my face expressions while dancing.

I use my living room and just push aside the furniture haha if you watch my newest video, there is a part where I cleared out the wall to film! I’ve also seen videos of people filming in their bedroom and that works too as long as you have good lighting. I hope this helps!

Being skinny shouldn't stop you. I actually wish I was skinny too so I could flow better while dancing. What ever size you are, if you really want to learn to dance, nothing should stop you.
omg I feel you!! I’m also pretty insecure especially posing vids online where everyone can see haha I feel like being a good dancer is independent of your body shape or size. I honestly believe anyone can be a great dancer with consistent practice. I have basically no curves, and I sometimes have to tweak the moves a little to make the dance work for me but it can be done and you got this! 💕

Just some small tips to add to this video
1: instead of chromecasting, if you don't have a chromecast you can just connect your laptop/computer using an HDMI cable or a DISPLAYPORT cable or use an adapter (this will most likely be cheaper as well.
2: You don't need to download the video to flip it, you can just use a chrome extension. It could be the case that you don't have fast internet in your country, and downloading the video will take a lot more unnecessary time AND space on your computer storage.

Is not necessary download the video to make it mirror, there's a google extension that lets you do that and you can make it slower and repeat the parts that you need again and again.
