I had a very dark moment at age 20. I also ended up with an amputation. The following five years my life was a drunken and drug fuelled mess. I met a woman who literally saved my life. Married now for 40 years, I have a loving son and two adorable grandchildren. Igor, I don't know you personally but believe me when I tell you your life CAN be wonderful. Do NOT let your past dictate the direction of your life and find it within yourself to forgive the actions you took on that fateful day. Good luck my friend.

@john gibson absolutely. We can bleed out within 8 minutes flat. With four limbs. With an accident, alcohol in his system thinning his blood. Wow. Truly they should receive honorary awards. I'm sure they put tourniquets on each of his limbs. It's amazing that they got to him so fast. Sadly my cousin lost his leg. He's hard of hearing. Didn't even hear the train coming. He went to cross over people were screaming and waving their hands at him and he didn't understand what was going on. He thought they were waving at him to say hi. Unfortunately he crossed over and lost his leg. Sadly last year they put him to rest. He was a wild one. I know he's keeping my mom company. They were like two peas in a pod. He more like my mother. And I'm more like my aunt. They used to joke we should just trade children. He had blonde hair and blue eyes. Although my aunt has blue eyes. She has darker hair. Although my skin isn't the same color as hers I look more like her daughter than I do my own mother's daughter.
Bless this man. I hope he uses this accident to prove to people. You can do anything you set your mind to. And that is the truth. Wherever your will is, that is your way. The only thing that stands between us and what we want is ourselves. Bless him

When your limbs are completely severed, they can close up and cut off arterial bleeding because the muscles retract like broken rubber bands and bind up against the opening of the wound. So the medics may not have contributed to him not bleeding out.

His gf pulled him out and ripped off her shirt to make tourniquet for his severed legs. He went blind due to loss of blood and lost his legs above the knees. But he still sings heavy metal music and sometimes walks with prosthetic legs, but they hurt to use. God bless you both. Yes. Glad he lived. I have a close friend who was shot 6 times in the chest and one in the neck. He spent 4 years in a wheelchair and was told he'd never walk. He kept trying and trying eventually playing pool as an activity he could do in a wheelchair. He says it legit helped him stand again. He has to have a cane at all times but is the chilliest man you'll encounter. He got out of the gang life and lives well today. The man who shot him got 15 years for attempted murder. He showed up at his parole hearing at 10 years and asked for him to be let out. I've heard that before about being suicidal and having a traumatic experience that shakes up your view on life and the ultimate beauty of it. In fact I just watched a true crime doc where a young woman was distraught walking down the street planning her suicide. She was abducted by 2 men and held captive. When she had that experience she realized how much she really did want to live but needed help. Thank you for sharing about your friend. Glad he still rocks. 💜 🙏

Alcoholism and depression are a dangerous mixture. They stop you from self care and self love.
Drowning your hidden sadness and feelings of inadequacy and feelings of failure and hopelessness, with alcohol is NEVER a solution.
Avoiding alcohol and having counselling and setting small, practical achievable career goals are very important for recovery... and so too, having genuine, safe, good, caring friends who are there for you during your difficult, dark times is essential for improving mental health. Kindness matters.

I was a month and half in the hospital with a tibial plateau fractureand it took me 4 months to walk around the block with poles supporting me. (“Activator”poles which can be found on Amazon. I took physical therapy at home and next at a nearby pt office. PT was a frustrating, disappointing experience with my injury. Every time I got on the Pilates reformer I felt this is it. I can make it with this kind of therapy. No matter what PT therapists would put me on the Pilates machine for 6 minutes max, no more.
I made a big decision to invest in a reformer Pilates club with unlimited access. The cost of reformer Pilates had me rule it out emphatically as a fitness tool. Now, with my ability to walk and reduce pain is dependent on this discipline. Without Pilates my quality of life would diminish. Okay, just thought I’d share my rehab experience. Grief comes in cycles. Hopefully, he’ll reach every single goal he has set in his mind. When you have a life altering injury you come to a high point in recovery. You have to accept your limitations. That’s not so easy to accept, that there is no better. You may know it’s your fault the whole time, but the older you get you realize exactly what you robbed yourself of. Forgiving yourself can be the hardest thing in the world to do. His attitude now is great which will take him a long way, but he’ll never feel with fingertips again. His feet will never touch sand, grass, or water. Life is the greatest gift. It’s the little things we take for granted.

I’m 42 and I’m dying of liver failure from drinking beer. I didn’t drink hard liquor but I drink six beers every day 12 or more on the weekends. I was given 30 days to live and was placed in hospice. That was almost 3 years ago this month. I’m sober and have been since I was told that it didn’t matter if I stopped I was done for. I have never been good at fallow directions especially if I didn’t want to hear it. I’m not going to live into my 70s but I’m going to do everything I can to live to 100.

Don't give up, the human body is incredibly resilient at healing itself and recovering even after long-term abuse. I am sure you'll make it and wish you the best of luck on your journey. remember nobody is perfect we all deal with our own problems and personal demons we are all damaged one way or another in this life but that damage is what makes us stronger at the end
