- The chairman of the parish council in a quiet village feared that his life was “in peril” when he was attacked by a businessman in a dispute over birds’ nests, a court was told.
Magistrates were shown mobile footage from the village of Church Fenton, North Yorkshire, in which Andrew Mason, 63, can be seen on the ground in front of a tree-cutting cherry picker as Chris Makin, 65, tries to drag him by his clothes and hair during an incident in April 2023.
Prosecutors at Harrogate magistrates’ court described how, before the footage begins, Makin had poked Mason in the face, knocking off his glasses, and then “thrown him to the floor in a kind of headlock”.

This so called money grabbing buisness man should be prosecuted for killing wild birds,
that's the sort of Councillor that we need representing us..
What kind of man lets another man walk over him like this? "Get off me" that did him no good
That thug should have had a 3 month prison sentence for that. A 1k fine is nothing to a multimillionaire. Not one of the many local onlookers came to his aid either. They only needed to get closer and shout at the guy to stop. If a few folk did that he would have stopped.
Looks like reasonable force to move the person for their own safety. The person rolling around on the floor should stop squealing like a little girl and man up. Pathetic.
not sure this is being attacked
That guy thinks he can stop a tractor by laying down in front of it. Prove him wrong. Maybe other idiots will get the message.
