It made all the difference :*( My roti came out beautifully :*( Finally, this Indian could marrid!
Kimberly Borosa I understand and can relate to your dilemma! I had the same problem for many years too until I figured out the secret, which btw I am happy to share! Well done! Don’t forget to invite me to the wedding! 😂👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😂

My mother always reminded me--- "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach". The universe has heard you and sent you here first to sharpen your skills. I am sure he is on his way to you right now. Btw, how's your dhalpourie and paratha skills? Don't forget to check those recipes out as well. Lol
@@CookingWithRia Yes lol. Right you are again. And so is your mother. I'll certainly be looking at your dhalpourie and paratha videos and will attempt them with my new found confidence. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

Ria, it’s never too late to learn, I am a grandma, have been cooking for so many years & never knew folding the dough over makes the roti comes out stiff. Ur tutorial is very good & easy to follow. Keep on sharing ur great cooking ideas, very much appreciated. Thank u.
Best sada tutorial on CZcams. For people like me who didn’t have anyone to teach them, thank you Ria 🙂
Shernella Gaya You are most welcome Shernella. My pleasure and honor to teach you!
Plz visit my channal for simple recipes
Omg Ria you have no idea how much this rolling motion has helped me. I never understood why my roti always missed that soft lightness to it, never thought it would be my technique. So helpful.
This is the best roti video I've seen. "Getting over your fear of kneeding roti" I knew I was in the right place
Hi Ria! I'm 40 years old and only now learning not to fold over my roti when kneeding. Could never figure out why my rotis weren't soft after they cooled a bit. I'm trying it out this on my Canadian husband this weekend. He love he Roti! Thank you so much!
Wow... best tip ever... “ don’t fold or roll the dough over itself”. This has definitely been my main issue for the past 20+ years. God bless you for sharing such vital information. Definitely the best tutorial.
OhSkuntMan Thank you, much appreciated! Made the same mistake for quite a number of years!
oh wowwwww!! Ria the word "AWESOME" does not even begin to describe how wonderful your tutorials are! Your methods are so user-friendly and measurements so accurate. Thank you very much for that. I also appreciate tremendously the tips that you dispense with such care and thoughtfulness for your views! I made sada roti this morning...now the kids want a repeat later!!
Love your tutorials, they are all more authentic than most and comes from practical experience. Finally tried your method this afternoon, my roti is no longer considered an anchor thanks to your tips. Used a glass top stove and an old frying pan as i couldnt find the tawa. Roti was able to swell and came out tender.
Fellow Trinidadian here 🇹🇹🇹🇹😊 I quite liked this video, I'm actually going to attempt this in a few minutes! 😊😊😊
EDIT:
It came out wonderful! I was quite pleased 😊 and so was my family 😁 looking forward to following more of your recipes!
I made my first soft sada roti today! wow! i am so glad i properly followed the recipe (which i never really do)! I am soooooooo happy today!
Thanks for trying and following the instructions. Happy to hear
It turned out soft!
by far theeeee best video on making roti to this day, i also love how you have the definitions of what all the words mean, you are a natural born teacher ❤️❤️❤️
The best roti video I've seen on CZcams and I've watched many. Learned lots from those videos and from trial and error making my own but I have learned the most from your video. Nice audio and video editing. Well done!
I use the same recipe but I fold over the dough and it does become stiff once cooled. Cant wait to try this method. Thanks
Update: I made it using this method, and I couldn't believe the difference in texture. Now I can eat my roti even when it gets cold.
same.
I can’t believe how easy this was! Tried it following exactly what you advised and got perfect results ! Thank you Ria for revealing the secret in the kneading without folding 🙏 now i can make sada. (no yeast required😀) and not worry if it gonna swell ☺️
My word , this is the best instructions i have ever seen ,i always fold over dough ,i will never make that mistake again and i didn't get about the sealing top either , thanks much for the video 😁
Thank you for the wonderful tip of not folding over the dough when kneading. It makes the world of difference with the outcome!
What a fantastic tutorial.... I followed this to the letter and for the first time my rotis were perfect.
Thank you very much.
Thank you for this video, it is very detailed and informative, very appreciated, Roti comes out great every time!!!
This has been so helpful. My roti kept coming out stiff and I didn't understand why. Now I know it's because I kept folding it over and into itself when I was kneading the dough. Thank you!
You wouldn't believe how grateful I am for this particular recipe. I can make roti like a pro now, all thanks to you!
I just came across this channel, and I must say, Ria, this is an excellent video! The best sada roti tutorial that I have ever seen. Thank you so much for taking the time and showing us the truth and the light!
Ria, thank you, thank you! Of all the methods I've tried that's out there yours worked the best! Since my mom passed I've had to become dad's roti maker. Now he can finally get soft swollen roti just like mom used to make him. My method of kneading and for how long was totally wrong. Thanks once again!!!!
Candice Hatake That made my day! Thank you. I am happy my technique worked for you.. and your dad! Sorry to hear about your mom. I know she is proud of you! Happy New Year! ❤️
I saw someone used yeast an a machine to make it but in Trinidad nobody used yeast its baking powder an just like how u made it
We all need to eat but we all cook differently regardless roti is roti made out of flour your taste of cooking and my taste is totally different. Thks .
@@CookingWithRia xx.
I tried over the years to make roti but never got it right. After seeing this video and noticing your technique in kneading the flour I realized that I had gotten it wrong. I always folded the dough many times which cause the roti to come out very hard. I tried this way and it was very soft and stayed soft until finished the next day. Thank you.
I love the old photos and stories that go with your recipes.
I use this method for all kneading now and it makes a huge difference!! Thank you.
Thank you for sharing I love how you explain everything

That's awesome!
At last!! Someone that makes the roti like me.😊 Alot of the uploads on here tend to make a stiff dough.
I'm really happy to have watched this video. My previous attempts were just short of a fiasco. The kneading steps were especially helpful.

Absolutely love your channel. Watching you prepare and cook is very relaxing. You have a very calming voice. Love your videos 😘
Useful presentation.
I learned something about "sealing"
It seems she knows a lot about food tech besides tradition.
Thanks for the video!
Respect. I am West African and love Indian food. I never knew all the work and love put into this bread. I'm so grateful.
This is the BEST technique I have seen.
I doubt anyone else can top this video. Well done.
Thanks for sharing!
Wow... Thank you!!!! I usually swell mines in the microwave. I let I cook as normal but the swelling I do in the microwave.. I put it on a kitchen towel... And set it the time for like 50 second I get beautiful light golden brown spots roti
Thank you Thank you ever so much for this tutorial. I'm 30 married with 2 kids and still can't do this but I love this dish so much. Your video gives me the encouragement to finally make another attempt after several failed attempts years ago.
Nish Nish
Merci de
Great tutorial Ria, I have been cooking for years & never knew that folding the dough over makes the roti comes out stiff. Never too old to learn. Thank u❤️
Hi Ria , thank you sooooo much for this video. I never knew how to make sada roti the correct way. It always came out like flat roast bake. I looked at this video once and attempted it and it came out so good except for the swelling part. I am currently attempting it for the second time (after seeing this video) and after looking at the video again I realised where I went wrong, so I am certain that it will swell this time. This is the meaning of step by step. You are so generous for sharing all of your methods. This is my go to channel now! Thanks again. Much love!
Wow mam i thought i was the only one: using my fist when kneeding 😃.great video...thnks
Excellent tutorial! I usually make mine just like you did, except I fold over my dough and it does become stiff after a while. Will definitely try your method! Thank you!
Indeed, an excellent video! I'm in the same situation. Most of my sada roti swells (some like phoulorie, some halfway), but the next day my leftovers are stiff. And I do fold over my dough :(. Now I know not to fold. Will try your method the next time I make roti. Thank you Ria for sharing your knowledge and I love the humour (How much? Average nah lol)!
You are very talented and paid attention while your Mom showed you how. Thank you for sharing your talent and all the little details..really enjoyed watching
From the bottom of my heart thank you very much for this video... I needed the correct measurement of baking powder

?twice rotie
Oh gosh 😋 I think I just fell in love💞
Love the video, love your beautiful outfit and your food looks delicious 🙏🏾
I followed your instructions about not folding but only using the knuckles and my Haitian husband showered me with hugs and kisses. Thank you ever so much for the verbal instructions about not folding. Now I understand why mine kept coming out hard. I actually used Amaranth that I popped and ground into flour. They puffed up and were soft as a pillow. So delicious. Hugs for such a wonderful instructive video.
I literally just tried this........this method 100% works !!!!!!!! Thanks a lot for sharing
Great Trini ah Trini
Wonderful. You used the hindi words unlike others who seen embarrassed to use them. Your cooking method is real. But wait, I would like to see who Rita is.
Do you use a wet paper towel to cover them as well?
If you making plenty you can cover the loyahs with DAMP PAPER TOWEL OR CLOTH to prevent it from drying up.
. Not wet.

Hi Ria. Thanks for the sada roti making tutotial. Did it another way for over 50 years. Time to make a change. No more folding over. I will try squeezing and caressing the dough instead of folding...as that is for bread making. My grandparents also left India during indentureship. I am Trini and i love roti.
Very simple recipe and technique. Thank you for sharing and I found great value in your content.
Ria thank u for such a detailed and faultless recipe
