Osteosarcoma is the most common form of bone cancer, and is often seen in children and young adults. Gary Friedlaender, MD, an oncologist with Yale Medicine’s Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation, has spent his career diagnosing benign and malignant lumps across the musculoskeletal structure - including bones, joints, ligaments and muscles. This video highlights the improvements in surgery, chemotherapy and immunotherapy over the last 30 years. The two-year survival rate for osteosarcoma, says Dr. Friedlaender, has improved by around 80 percent.
