I've heard Brilliant got a real good video editing course to do it more efficiently and easier.
Yeah. This is an excellent lesson for anyone on the purpose of pain. It’s a feedback mechanism. And true blindness… having lost my vision in one eye… is a really distressing feeling. I recovered, but this took me back.
10 hours is actually better than I was afraid it might be.
And on that count, 10% is a rough set of odds.
Glad to hear you're still with us, and that your lenses are working even if they came with some unfortunate "strings attached." I have always loved your content Magz ever since I found it and your channel is definitely one of my favs especially since you usually play it smart, and you're so calm and methodical. Your videos definitely help me de-stress after a long day. All of that said if you need to change your format or drop CZcams to take care of yourself, your wife, your family, and your new design business then please do that. We love you, but you don't owe us anything. All the smiles along the way were enough. Take care of yourself Magz.
As an optician with a master title, Meister here in Germany it's not the same as a masters degree, I am happy that the prosthetics work well. But you where lucky with the inflammation as well. A deep corneal imflammation can really mess up your eyes to the point of needing a transplant cornea.
Is using used cold tea on your eyes to get rid of bloody/itchy surface? Or does it contaminate it further? I don't like using meds at every single minor inconvenience but I work at a laptop most of the day and I don't want to hurt myself progressively
Yeah that is what my specalist was worried about and still partly is, we think it's ok but best to not trigger the imflammation anymore regardless.

You can get rid of swollen eyes by placing cold teabags onto the CLOSED eyelids for about ten minutes. But if your eyre are itchy oder bloodshot all the time, you should see a medical professional.
I know, using meds all the time isn't for everybody. But a sterile saline solution is a good option to clean the eyes. Just not all the time.
And consider getting the glands in your eyelids checked.@@michaelcorleone2794
I had similar inflammation in my eyes a couple of times, it always felt like someone presses a thumb into your eye. Vision is such a crucial thing, yet we're acting quite careless. I hope your state remains stable long enough, until they find a new therapy.

I'm really sorry to hear about that inflammation, sitting helpless and in pain was the worst experience of my life.

Edit: 41 isn't old Magz. I'll be 42 in 18 days. Hard work and a hard life have worn the body down, but the mind still thinks I'm a 20 something adult lol. We're like a fine wine. We get better with age😂

Welcome back mate. I lost the sight from my right eye 'bout 15 years ago (Mini - Stoke apparently) but then a genius who dressed like Biffo the Bear operated on me and I regained a fair bit. (Qne and a half eyeballs is better than just one) and it's fair when they say that you don't appreciate something 'til you loose it. Anyway I truly hope the people who worked on me are getting shagged rotten on a daily basis by a team of Super - Models of their particular taste........................................Anyway good luck and good to see ya.

Massive respect to you Magz. It’s hard enough to maintain a CZcams channel on its own, but dealing with health issues, marriage, kids, and your personal life as well is one heavy lift mate. I’ve been following for damn near 8 years now (I think), and most all of us are with you for the long haul. Take care of yourself man, the content can suffer a little for your own benefit, never suffer yourself for the content’s benefit.

The weather is crazy up here in the nordics too. It should be around 10° or even less, but last week we had 3 days straight of over 20°.
And the average has been around 16° which is insane, because as a kid, we already had snow around now!
Other visible climate change phenomena has been the lack of bugs. I'm lucky if I see even one butterfly during summer, and bees are a rare sight too. But 30 years ago when I was a teen, the summers were full of butterflies, bees, and all sorts of bugs.
I haven't been stung by mozzies in years, and I used to be one of the unfortunate ones who smells good to them.

I'll be honest, this was very difficult to listen through, Magz, can't imagine what you're feeling, and what you're family's feeling. Those are some rough odds, then again, this isn't exactly going to be simple, anything involving surgery rarely is. Can understand why you don't want to go for it, 1 in 10, flip a coin that it works, then flip another coin that you don't get an infection, flip another coin that you don't reject the grafted tissue, flip a coin that your vision stays the same, flip a coin that your vision improves, flip a coin that your vision degrades. That's a lot of coins, and Lord knows RNG can be a cunt at the best of times.
Don't feel bad for taking time for yourself, Magz, fuck, mate, 10 hours a day of good vision, that's precious time, and stressful as it may be, don't burden yourself unduly on our account.

HEY, BUT IDEA: you could get more than one work day of vision if you do ONE EYE AT A TIME. so if you use only your weak eye with 5hours + 5 hours of lens, then remove that lens for the day and switch to your strong eye for the same, you could get a full day of vision.
AND - the fact that your weak eye is being used so consistently and heavily SHOULD mitigate any issues with it. in fact, the treatment for cross eyedness can involve an eye patch for the strong eye to make the weak eye catch up. this might end up having the same effect. hey, and it's an excuse to buy left AND right eye patches. who doesn't want to look like a pirate?
but deffo ask your docs about that.

What was the first sign you had with your eyesight?
Cause I'm late 20's (28) and my left vision has started to play up quite a bit.
Halos around lights was probably the first sign, think seeing the world like it was a JJ Abrams movie. Next was distinguishing letters and numbers on signs while driving at a distance, this continued over years as the distance I could see and read got shorter and shorter and things got more and more blurred.
Magz I think it's obvious but... you put eyedrops constantly, I mean drops every hour, while wearing lenses right?
Kinda, the lens creates a seal that prevents tear exchange so once every one to two hours they must be removed, rinsed with saline solution, my eyes also need to be rinsed with saline then the lens cups need to be filled with solution, sometimes also saline sometimes a cushioning solution, before being re-inserted.
This is pretty standard for anyone who has this kind of lens.
What my wife does is she uses her contacts mostly and glasses for only emergencys when her contacts hurt or go bad. Do you have glasses as well?
No, My condition cannot be corrected with glasses, Hell my condition can't even be corrected with normal contacts.
The lens I wear are classed as visual prosthetics. They are a hard plastic cap that encases the whole front of my eye.

We really need to put re-growing organs and limbs as a priority.
Have you looked at genetic therapy ? Sounds like your condition is genetic (thanks mum and dad! :) I wouldn't go for the surgery, seems like the wrong approach. Genetics seems the right direction ?? Although I'm not a medical person, so I don't really know. I would get a second opinion ,from a genetics guy.
