Toccata and Fugue in D minor Meets Metal - Johann Sebastian Bach

- Well everyone,
It''s been 13 CZcams Halloween Octobers on here that I've wanted to tackle this and here we are. So the whole thing is....long haha. Tons of options, but in the end I wanted it to be typical song length and relying heavily on the "minor" in d minor. When I studied Bach in college, my mans wrote so much music I think we spent almost a month on him. And just like many of the greats, I didn't change anything hardly. Metal af.
Thanks for everything. It means the world.
Big ups,

Some say Bach was the first Metalhead in history. Just hear his music and you would get metal vibes all over his body of work.
Yea man when you add distortion to bachs work holy crap its some of the best metal ive heard
Easily a metalhead 🤘🏼🤘🏼
yeah, his heart was at the right place.
He just lacked the instruments back then.
This cover proves it
But my favourite heavy metal composer is Wagner ))
What is the pipe organ if not Heavy Metal... most pipes are of a lead alloy
Fun little story: my mom's not a metalhead, but she loves your covers. She also loves Toccata and Fugue, so much so that she had the organist play it at her and my dad's wedding, and listens to it all the time (especially around Halloween). So the second I saw the notification for this, I immediately told her and we listened to it together. Absolute banger, and mother-approved :D
Love you mom!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Wholesome af
@@331Erock Guitar ?
especoally around halloween! so she is metalhead
They had the organist play this at their wedding? Is your last name Addams?
Every time I hear Toccata and Fugue I always somehow expect it to transition to Back on the Rocks
Bach was 22 years old when he wrote this piece, THIS MAKES IT FEEL LIKE IT WAS MADE YESTERDAY!
Love how efficient your picking is. You make it look so effortless.
🙏🏻☺️🙏🏻
I love your classical music covers! Can we get a whole album of them?
🙏🏻🙏🏻 let’s do it!!
Right on! My favorite is Moonlight Sonata 1st Movement.
@@331Erock Yay! Those always were my favourite!
+1 for a whole album!
One million percent yes let's get baroque🤘
I love your classical reimaginings. And bach is just amazing.
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Bach and Beethoven are my absolute favorites. This is a very good demonstration as to why
Both were 🤯
No need to overly edit a truly classic. Just give it the life it deserves. This song has needed to meet metal for years
I absolutely love when you make classical songs metal. Moonlight sonata you did way back when was the absolute best thing Ive ever heard.
Edit: I dont suppose youd be up for hungrian rhapsody #2 would you?
ALWAYS down for classical. It’s the arrangement and prep time that’s the killer
Especially the 5th one!!
I mean, this is Baroque, but I know what you mean.
Very nice! Reminds me of your "old" classical covers, nice bit of nostalgia! Keep up man, you're one of the YT metal covers OG!
🙏🏻🙏🏻 still here!! Thanks for sticking with me ☺️
@@331Erock Always.
I've been requesting this piece for ages. You did NOT disappoint, that was everything I hoped it would be ❤❤❤
🎉🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Toccata and Fugue: Played on the organ: Creepy and awesome! Heavy Metal: Badass and awesome!
Your classical music takes are my favourite content of yours!
🙏🏻🥹🙏🏻
I have been waiting for a VERY long time for a half-decent metallized cover of Toccata and holy crap did you kill it! That was awesome!
This is going to be my favourite cover now. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
🤘🏼☺️🤘🏼
watch "Tina S" version
I think that was one of the best non-classical arrangement of that piece that i have ever heard. 🤘
🙏🏻🥹🙏🏻
You have no idea how long I've been asking ppl to make a metal version of this song... Made my day.
Wolf Hoffman of Accept also made one.
In the words of The Terminator: I'll be Bach. Top cover mate!
This is f'n beautiful and brilliant! One of my favorites, a song I've grown to know intimately, playing it on keyboard and church organ frequently. My only wish is this song were full length 10 minutes or so! I need to own a copy of this song! Please tell me you've made it available? I'm a firm believer that Bach would have been a metalhead. Beethoven and Vivaldi too. Keep em coming!
One of my all time favorite classical pieces. This was amazing! Thank you!
🤘🏼🤘🏼
Briliant!! I like to think the greats like Beethoven and JSB would be delighted at how the ways of performing their music has evolved over the years sine they were first written.
Some delighted by, some disgusted by 😂
AMAZING dude, thank you for still posting these sick ass covers! i've always pictured this song sounding super metal in my head!!
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
This was w2ell worth all the 13 Halloweens, man!! So sick!!
Haha yay! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
I just had a really shitty day and this really brightened it up. Rock on brotha. 🤘
This is my favourite piece of recorded music at the moment. It is so well done. I love everything about it and I can't stop listening. Thank you!
One of my favourite pieces of classical music, absolutely fantastic dude well played :D 🤘
The man is a treasure chest of music
Count Dracula approves this
I am always amazed off his talent. And I would definitely purchase a CD if he would record a cover album of all his classical covers.
🫵🏼🤘🏼
Blue Lobster jumpscare
This immediately lands in my playlists... amazing work! THANK YOU!💕
By the way - any chance to buy your covers in a physical album form sometime in the future?
🙏🏻☺️🙏🏻
That's so great! Classical music is often said to be the ancestor of metal music. This is a great honor to your ancestors! 😊🤘🤘🤘
It so is!!
This takes me way back to the day of the arcades. If you ever played GYRUSS. This is the music that played the entire time you played the game and it sounded just like how Eric is playing it. So you kids didn't even know you were listening to the old grand masters music.
02:43 Fly me to the moon, and let me play among the stars
Bach would be proud of you, thumbs up guy
I keep coming back to this, amazing.
"I'll be Bach"
Astonishingly well done. I *have* to believe that Bach would highly approve of this. A perfect take on this classic song!
Always enjoy your vids bro. Would really like to see some metal covers of lesser done composers like, Handel, Rachmaninoff, Debussy...etc.
Def want more of this type stuff.
You got it!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Imagine Sab hearing this. I bet he'd be amazed and flattered. Just spooktacular, man.
🙏🏻🙏🏻
It is like every time I see a new video from you: at first I give the thumb up, at second I enjoy your music - and was never disappointed
🙏🏻🥹🙏🏻
Great playing for Great pieces! Thx!
This reminds me of my childhood, back when Papa would make porridge in the eventide for us to have for supper. I recall us "feasting" every evening upon the full moon. Once upon a midnight dreary when i pondered weak and weary over a query of the raven
Love that Randy Rhoads sampled part of this composition for the outro solo in Mr Crowley
I was 11 the first time I listened to Bach at music class in Italy and the first thing I thought wast that that guy must be the real father of Metal genre.
between this and Marcin Jakubek's cover of it we got some of the highest quality metal versions of Bach. i love how your arrangements evoke each other because they are the same song but are wildly different at the same time.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
More than 10 years i follow you, thanks you for all this Métal. ImI
🙏🏻🥹🙏🏻
I got to put you up on the level of Randy Rhoads. you are badass I got to say man you just amaze me every time I watch you
Name dropping my idol 🙏🏻🥹🙏🏻
Dude! You are amazing, best Bach cover ever...🎸
🙏🏻☺️🙏🏻
I discovered this channel while surfing for Beethoven videos. While I don't think that the classics are boring, it is nice to hear a fresh new take on them.
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Really love the middle part, i need the extended version of it
Another one requested long ago fulfilled. Never disappoint! 😎
🙏🏻🥹🙏🏻
really cant help but feel some classic Guilty Gears Vibes with this classic
This is amazing! Absolutely LOVE the cover versions of classical music. ^_^
🙏🏻☺️🙏🏻
@@331Erock Dude I've been listening to you for years and you've consistently produced absolute heat from literally any song.
Black Sabbath: With our dark themes of the occult, drug use, mental illness and war we created heavy metal.
Led Zeppelin: We took the sounds of Hendrix and Cream and amped up the heaviness to create the heavy metal sound.
Hendrix/Clapton: We laid down the foundations for heavy metal via an aggressive form of blues-based psychedelic rock that uses fuzzy feedback sound effects.
Chuck Berry: I innovated the electric guitar to make blues standards louder, planting the seed for not just metal, but all of rock music.
Bach: Children, please.
Luv you, man
🖤🫵🏼
Such impressive playing. I've always liked Bach. Your music helps me realize it's because Bach and metal share a certain aesthetic of music.
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Bloody love this version
So good to see you, HEAR you. After I got the basics one of the first pieces "forced" upon me by my teacher was this one. It was a btch to play back then but I cannot be more grateful than I am now for his decision. Excellent upload as always.
It’s nice to see young people still enjoying the oldies. That was great- Brovo😊
Man you never get boring no how times I hear you play
Everyone else when they cover a song the same thing but with distortion
331Erock adds little flairs throughout a kick ass drum beat bass lines and other instruments to fill
I’m so glad someone notices that 🥹🥹🥹🥹
Happy Halloween!
My word this was Awesome
As an organist who was inspired to learn to play by this song, well done sir! I always greatly enjoy your covers of classic works. Bach would be well pleased.
🤘🏼🎹🤘🏼
Very nice
Exactly what I needed from you!
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
great tune and omg, I am amazed it took you this long to do this.
tbh, I'm amazed I never realised you hadn't done this either xD
It’s a free time song, which I don’t like arranging bc there’s no set rhythm so mapping it out isn’t the most fun
Absolutely killin' it, as usual. Love this 💯
🤘🏼☺️🤘🏼
I've long thought this piece would make an amazing metal track. Thank you for proving it. Rock on!
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
I’m confident this is what JSB had in mind when he composed this masterpiece.
way back in the 90's I would play Dorsey's Bachbusters (Bach on synth) while driving around. Convert that album to metal and I would need no other playlist, hah
Super Erock...🤘🎸
Got the notification and thought “oh this is gonna be great.” I was not disappointed
🤘🏼🤘🏼
finally a metal cover of this music 😍
🤘🏼☺️🤘🏼
So good well done
Absolutely amazballs continual play on atm
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Gotta say, been a fan of your videos for a long time, subbed after first hearing Terminator Meets Metal. Ever considered doing a long video in a metal-classical style? Of course I'm thinking Walt Disney's Fantasia. I'll keep my hopes high.
High hopes considered ☺️☺️
simply amazing.....
Fucking awesome 🤘 perfect way to finish up my Friday lunch at work thanks man!
🙏🏻☺️🙏🏻
loved this one so much.... please let me put my vote/request in for the little fugue in Gm, should you decide to do another in the genre. It's been my favorite since I heard it at an organ recital, and as the first notes sounded, they pulled back the curtains on floor-to-ceiling windows showing the hills and forests behind the recital hall, as the sun started to set.
yeah !!!!
Sick as always
🤘🏼🤘🏼
Toccata and fugue in D minor is one of my Absolute favorites and you ROCKED it!!! Totally enjoyed it!!!! BRAVO!!! Hand clap, standing Ovation!!!!!
This might be the best thing I have ever seen. Kuds
🙏🏻🙏🏻
That was ear candy. Good job!
Delightful as usually good sir, bravo i say, bravo.
🙏🏻🙏🏻
So sick my Man
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Love that piece
Me too!!
He managed to fit all the major parts of a 12 minute piece into a 4 minute box of AWESOME. Huge respect for this guy, he is on par with the original.
something tells me Johann would love your version. Rock on Eric
We can hope ☺️☺️
This really gets me in the proper spirit 🎃👍👍
Holy shit this is phenomenal!!! 🤯🤯🤯
Absolutely love this!
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Amazing as usual buddy
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
this man does not get old
I have seen and loved many of your videos. I really love Halloween alot. After hearing Toccata and Fugue and started wondering if there was a heavy metal rendition of it like how Van Helsing's Curse took a bunch of classical pieces and metalified them. I absolutely love this. You are one of my all time favorite metal guitarists.
I never knew what this was called, I just remember first hearing it when playing Gyruss as a kid. Awesomeness!
🙏🏻🙏🏻🤘🏼🤘🏼
Phantom of the metal?
