For the stars I really recommend using the Lightpen in the Luminance section. It is much easier to control and you can get so many different sizes to make them look more realistic
This is so fresh and suuuch a great tutorial man! Thank you. When you talk about patience and not rushing.. learning so much about drawing from you. Thank you for your creativity! Much love from Tasmania.
Thank you 🙏
Man I can never get my mountains to look right but that eraser trick did the job! I’m so happy, best looking mountains I’ve ever done
That’s awesome, glad it helped
Hello ! I have been seeing your art for quite some time and I am so impressed and soo motivated to try things out but how are you soo good in this! All your art work are fantabulous and you are doing an absolutely great job
Another amazing landscape James. I was wondering if I could make a request. Can you do a stormy sea at night. Like rough seas and lightning. I’d really appreciate it.
This was fun! I thought that the northern lights would be easier to create, and I'm glad I took my time. Thanks James!
My pleasure
Awesome! Just found this series, and wanted to give it a go! I started oil pointing and did quite well with the medium, though I want to be able to paint on my iPad as well. So I figure there's no better way to start! Thanks for the vid! I saved it to my custom playlist so I can revisit!
Thank you and my pleasure
Wow this breathtaking. Can’t wait to Procreate this Awsome
Thank you 🙏
Thank you so much! I am new to Procreate, and this was so helpful. I had to add my color palette manually, so the colors didn't show up in the same order as yours, so following your color selections was a bit difficult at times. Although, it was probably my newbie mistake when creating the palette (first time doing that too)! Thanks again, James, I appreciate you so much. 💕
Absolutely amazing. Thankyou for another awesome tutorial.
Thank you 🙏
thank you a lot like i never had ideas of what to draw and now that i see this i can show it to my dad and he can get me procreate and plus i have an idea now of what to draw
This was amazing. Every time I have nothing to do on procreate your video is a savior.
Thank you 😊
Wow, this is amazing!
Thanks for sharing :)
I love seeing tutorials to learn from them, and apply that knowledge into the artworks I create from my mind/ a reference image
Your tutorials are generally the most helpful ones! Would love to see some 3D ones too
Thank you I appreciate that 🙏
Thanks a lot! I painted my home by the fjords, and let the waters mirror the skies. Had fun! :)
My pleasure
I ,love watching your tutorials they are so informative and easy to understand and follow thank you for making these!!!!!! Can you do drawing bones or skulls?
Great tutorial, I enjoyed working on this!
Thank you 😊
Beautiful sky. I love it!
Thank you 😊
Awesome! Glad that I found your channel!
Thank you 😊
Fantastic !!!!
Thank you 🙏
yo mate thanks so much for this tutorital!
What a great channel. My girlfriend and I are noobies, but this step by step tutorial makes it to so easy and enjoyable. It’s also fun comparing our drawings in the end. A modern Bob Ross.
Great to hear!
Many thanks, loved it, i will share it in FB ! still learning!
My pleasure
I love it! 😍
Thank you 😊
Great tutorial, thank you so much
Thank you my pleasure
Fantastic learning so much
Thank you 🙏
Just the video I was looking for 😊
Awesome
You are a great teacher! You go nice and slow and show us everything in detail. Thank you so much! I just loaded the app in my iPad and now I need to get the pencil to be able to play with it.
Thank you 🙏
That’s awesome
Thank you 😊
Could you please do some videos with grass and rocks in it? I'm struggling in this area particularlu when they are in the foreground and it would be very helpful
I’ll see what I can think of
This is spooky, just yesterday I was watching a movie that had the Northern Lights in it, and thought “it’d be awesome if that guy who does the Procreate tutorials did one with the Northern Lights”.
I’m going to start saying how awesome it’d be to add 3 zeroes to the end of my bank balance…
Thanks for the video!
Haha good timing!
Only 3 zeroes? You gotta think bigger, brother/sister!
Was it „finch“? That was my moment where i decided to try drawing northern lights myself!
@@blumensekte Ha, yes it was!
@@StrickenBiged that scene was really insane. It took my brain a while to combine these two contrasts into one picture… but what a great cinematic move to show the change of everything in one simple picture.
Even the storms looked super dope, one day i‘ll make movie fan art!
James I came across you whilst browsing, I'm so pleased I did. ok its a little off topic but can I import a picture (don't forget in very new to this) Presume this could be layer 1,for layer 2 use like a HB pencil draw/sketch all the outlines as a start point remove layer 1 (the picture) and I'll have a foundation sketch to work with. Or have you already covered this? I retire soon and this will keep me very busy Thank you
BIG BIG LIKE AND THUMBS UP….This is so good and amazing artwork, hope we stay connected and have a safe and wonderful day.
Thank you 🙏
Amazingly!
Thank you 😊
Amazing
Thank you 😊
Hello the shady brush to create effects on the aurora aorealis does not look like yours, how can I change that please :)
thank you so so much! :)
My pleasure
Ok what did u do to ur brushes because that don’t look like mine
how do you download the color palette? or where do u type in the colour codes? :) thank u!
Just love how you teach us so beautiful also is this able to to printed out ? I’m all new thank you
You can print any digital image once you have saved it as a jpeg etc
Where do you get the extra brushes?
I would love to see how Blood moon with landscape is done.
Nice suggestion
Make los Angeles City love ur videos ❤
How can I share my effort? This was the very first digital piece I’ve ever done and I loved it!!!!!
In the video description are links to my instagram and Facebook group where you can tag and share with me
When I attempt to follow one of you tutorials sometimes the brush size are too small or too large and i don’t get the same effects I wanted any ideas on how to fix that? I even use the exact same brush size
I have the same problem. I am using that same brush and everytime you pass over a line you drew the color. Hanges. I am so stuck on the mountains I might as well have shaded them all in that dark color. That is what it looks like. I give up.
Hey, I love the tutorials you put out, I've been following you for quite sometime now and id like to say my digital airbrushing skills have gotten pretty great. Could you please put out a video on oil painting or acrylic painting? If not could you please point me in the direction of a youtuber who does?
This is my art teatcher at my school
**Me trying multiple times to draw northern lights and not once remembering that smudge tool exists**
Beautiful art it is hehe.
Haha it helps a lot

When you’re early and don’t even realize it:
Thank you 😊
Could you do a tutorial on abstract art? I’m completely a devotee of Klee, Kandinsky and Rothko? Not to copy or replicate but general techniques and principles bbCheers from NH USA
Very difficult to teach sorry and I think digital versions of there work wouldn’t work that well anyway
Paint this 😎
Are you saying I couldn’t do this with real paint? 😆
I’ve been following a few of your tutorials and have to say, they’re absolutely amazing, however my paintings never seem to have the same depth of contrast yours do? I’m using the same palette, with the right hex codes and everything, but my colours always seem much flatter, and less vibrant? Any idea why?
late reply, but check to make sure your color settings for the canvas itself are correct. the one you can change when you are creating a new canvas
I can not find the brushes
Following this on PC but the color on my PC is different to the color on youtube also on my PC.. was this edited video (with a filter)?
The camera changes colors plus depending on your device and the type of display, the actual colors can show up differently. So probably a combination of both! Best to follow the hex codes.
What tablet do u have or is it apple coz I can't get it on Samsung
Procreate only on iPad
Can someone please help me understand how to set up the 8 x 4 he mentions at the beginning? Is it inches? Cm? pixels? The scale looks different on my end. Please help! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I said A4 canvas is a standard size already set on procreate
@@JamesJulier-Artist omg i feel so dumb!! Thanks!!!!! ♥️♥️♥️
Haha no problem!
Turn on the closed caption, cc, to understand the British accent for people in the USA. what he did say?
Which camera set do you use? Lol just kidding
Ha!
Can u tell me which app u are using
Procreate
I dont think the hex codes are very accurate for this painting??
Camera changes the colours which is why I provide the codes
