This opening is one of the best I've ever seen, the passion for the details towards the character's fanaticism for Sega is incredible.

With the uncle's favorite game being guardian heroes and having all those rare sega saturn games in his house, I honestly in my mind wanted to be best friends with this guy.

I love this series because I lived the same era as ojisan and I'm a SEGA fan as well.
Without doubt one of the best opening
I think the finger wiggle at the 0:48 mark is a Sonic title screen hand wiggle reference.
Just to add to that, the transition screen at the middle of the episodes (usually for commercials) reference Panzer Dragoon, another great Sega Saturn game

I'm a 90s kid like 1990 and I grew up playing the genesis till the ps2 came out and only played the ps2 because I went to my cousins house since they had it.
Thanks for putting this together I just assumed it was all random look alike animation but it's so cool knowing it was an homage to history.
I never really played any SEGA consoles or games in my youth, just was past my time, but man does the thought put into this opening and the anime itself make me want to experience them, I can see why Uncle has such a passion for SEGA.

The glowy thing he does at 0:20 I'm pretty sure was based on one of those special attacks from the Shinobi series.
I hope this anime gets a second season!! We saw him get a sega saturn in episode 2. A sega genesis in episode 7. hopefully he will get a sega dream cast in season 2!!!

I loved those GA diving jumps. You can't just use them randomly though! They were my fav trick, but the standard jump attack and charges were usually the way to go.
If they adapt chapter 29, they Sega BETTER allow them to do it properly
Sega usually doesn't care about other people using their IPs. There was that one time they mass removed Shining Force Let's Plays to promote a new game but that was it.

The Guardian Heroes and Golden Axe "references" seems like a bit of a stretch imo. I'm kinda mad I didn't catch the SF2 Ryu ending refence though lol. Good stuff.
