On the DP reversal, EX gladius has enough hits of armor not to care sometimes, such as on Ryu's ex.dp, and you are minus enough to get a full punish

The number of Marisa's I face dropped sharply on entering platinum. My main gripe with marisa is the ludicrous damage she gets off of one combo with virtually zero execution required.
She is a beginner character. The only character with ease of use as "Easy".
Her combos require execution, bro. Everyone does. I can at least play her on hitbox, can't play Gief, 360s suck on hitbox. Also her combos are fun and cool to do, and I enjoy charging her heavies, reminding me of Vaseraga a lot.
Her combos are literally HP HP QCF P...c'mon man...😂😂😂. Execution is relatively low. The damage is not balanced for the execution. And holding down a button makes her +4.
Wtf , "easy execution" ? Lol go and try play her then bro . Try the charged uppercut rush back+hp and shory od , the timing must be so perfect that o just cut it out from my combo . People like to talk about the character they struggle , like they where easy or somewhat broken , just at launch people yell all the time , "marisa is broken" , this dude broke her in 6 minutes of video , weak defense , bad buttons and the list goes on

I think its also worth mentioning that her gladius (except OD) armor doesnt work against lows.
As a Marissa main i can confirm, Manon is great at exploiting this

I just dont understand why a character can have EZ high damage combo, armor moves and retardedly long reach of normals, yet people still claim her weak

That's the plan
As a Marissa player one thing I'd like to say here is to check her armor moves one in a while with moves that hit low on the body like ryu stand lk. Her armor loses to alot of those moves so if I charge Gladius I lose to it. That makes me want to use the unchanged Gladius but since that's minus 5 as well characters like ryu and Cammy can punish it pretty well.
Marisa players are STILL eating for free because players aren't getting how vulnerable she is to throws while armoring. I don't even play her, yet I laugh every time I see it.
@@antonsimmons8519 Your strategy might work if the Marisa player does a blockstring into special from point blank. Go into training mode and actually try this. Mashing throw on a well-spaced block string is suicide. You can target combo and charge gladius to easily punish counter your throw for 1/4 life.

I haven't seen so many people carried by a character since peak Abigail. Like 70% of diamond matches are marisa

That would be a low level Marisa, a good one will use Gladius as Anti-Aerial or even the command armour. And it also would use Level 2 as a wake up Reversal.

Good guide, quick comment on the the 5mp 5mp target combo.
Even though it would be a crazy call out. She can actually make her self safe (and punish) most ex dps by doing Drive impact right after
However all invul supers will 100% win everytime (unless they keep it gapless with drive rush like you mentioned)
Also her lp lp combo also has a gap on block.
I was doing OD gladius or DR cancel into lk, but this might save me more meter., I'll lab this, nice tip

Holy shit the section on the target combo is going to save me sooooo many loses. I've taken so many Ls to just that
maybe it's not ideal and just something that's been working for me in the silver ranks but scotum can be an anti-air option. It's not very damaging but if you jump in kick me and I throw my arms up, I will give you an auto tap and knock you down. If you jump in and see Marisa throw up her hands waiting, just land and go for the throw and get that punish damage because it will be a race between your throw and her command grab

Marisa bros, if you suspect they are going to OD reversal during your bloxk string, you can charge an OD gladius and blow it the fuck up. They will lose half their life and 3.5 drive bars.

1 major problem that I have with Marisa is that her offensive counter move (scutum) which is a problem to deal with. Both her and JP has an OD counter move where the latter(JP) is much worst!

I grinded the ranks as ken and from silver 2 to platinum 1 i found very few marisas.

One thing for the MP MP target combo: she does have another option to call out OD reversals by using OD Gladius. This move has infinite armour, so the reversal gets absorbed and she'll get a punish counter combo on you

first definitely goes to JP, second to kimberly, and third to honda. i just think the marisa matchup is more intuitive than those. i just struggle with the marisa mental stack.

The issue with marisa for me is her silly dmg literally 1 mistake and you loose so much
sure, but lets say you apply this video perfectly, the marisa isnt going to be able to open you up or do much damage to you often at all. this is what balances the high damage, hard for her to take advantage, but once she has it, alt f4. its like zangief. playing marisa in high rank is torture, and finally getting those hits in feels so earned.

I have to watch videos like these because capcom won't give me matchup experience with characters who aren't Ryu, Akuma, or Ken. There are still characters I haven't even seen online.

I’ve been saying this the amount of times I’ve seen someone who didn’t even know the matchup win from just much better neutral options and her just not ever being able to get in and stay in. Don’t even get me started on on being so damn counter hit prone.

her MP TC is actually pointless to use. Marisas are better off using her Crmp because its drive impact cancelable, only 1Frame slower, does all combos the target combo does, and its safe from the reversal gap of the TC

Can EASILY be out footsied.
All her armor can be beaten by all characters in the game with the exception of sim.
Because of chainable light jab. Two to three jabs broken armor. That the characters can cancel into more damage.
NO PROJECTILE invincibility
Can EASILY be zoned out.
No easy safe options into damage like a four frame special cancelable jab that can go into drive rush.
The people complaing about her dont main her.
