Many years ago I would hike/backpack in snowstorms and camp out with nothing more than a good quality tent and sleeping bag. That ship has long since sailed !!! If it is predicted to be in the 30F range at night I don't even consider it anymore. Keep doing what you do, Nick !!!
Fast motion with sound effects for the win.
Seriously, the fast motion set up montage was like something out of a Ren and Stimpy cartoon. It introduced a lighthearted element in the middle of the viddy that legit made me smile.
In this video you destroyed the saying "Jack of all trades, master of none". You showed mastery in ALL areas!!! Stills/video/killer drone shots/AWESOME sound (and sound effects when putting up the awning!! HA!). For crappy conditions, you had some "hang on the wall" shots. Good grief.... you do indeed rock Mr Page. My respect of your talents overflow...
Really appreciate it Dave.. I think that those that utter that phrase aren't willing to pour time into more than one pursuit, or don't have the time to devote to more than one. I am trying to slowly get better at all those things I do.

I love these short photography excursion episodes. Amazing conditions @ -12 deg C THAT IS COLD! It never get's that cold here in Australia. I love the simplicity of these images.
Ah...the lone tree! Never get tired of these. These are great. (And I'm not sure why the speed clips of setting up camp are so funny but they totally amused me). Thanks for going out in the cold!
I'm sure you had an ear to ear grin as you plowed through those snowdrifts in your badass truck...Love the Solo stove, BTW. One of the best inventions for camping. Pure hot burn and little smoke in you face.

I always love the no-nonsense approach you take to discussing composition and technique, but my favorite part of this video? You including a "slip" sound effect at 2:27
I can sympathize with the cold, it sucks being cold at night. Almost impossible to get any sleep. You have probably already decided on it but I'd recommend getting a really good sleeping bag for those cold nights. A useful tip is to boil up some water and but it in a bottle that can handle the heat (like Nalgene) then put the bottle in the bottom of your sleeping bag, then you'll have hot toasty feet all night long 👍🏻
Loved the opening!!! The owl was stunning. And the tree at sunrise was great.
Those sped up clips of the camp set up had me laughing. Those skies at the end were great. Super cold weather makes for nice vibrant conditions.

All the photos are superb!! Some people are still asking "How i could take pictures like those?" Just you should be kind of crazy, take your car in a snow storm, sleep in a tent whitout the sleeping part because is freezing cold 🥶. Then you'd have the same passion about photography.
It would be hilarious hearing you blaming CZcams, photography, your subscribers, the mother earth, the guy that sold you that battery... that cold and long night 😆

Great video Nick. You show not only photography but adventure, and I love it.
I was out today, getting stuck in the snow to photograph some drifts. But not out in the wild, so people came and helped me out. Also, I did my winter camping when I was younger. Taking along some hand/boot warmers and sticking them in the foot of your sleeping bag about 30 minutes before you get in is helpful. Although, with an electric blanket and heater that would be redundant. :D
It couldn't get much better than this, great opportunity for some fine outdoor cooking and a very very cold beer with a sjde of photography. Really enjoyed it Nick. 📷🔥❄️

The first thing I did yesterday morning(,Jan 15/21) was grab my gear. To hunt for winter compositions. At sunrise.As soon as I stepped off the snow onto parking. I slipped, fell, and broke my left wrist. Spent the whole day In hospital. I did succeed in great photos today. Frozen waterfalls. And time lapsed video of mist across the lake. It was the coldest I seen in Texas since I been here. Moved here in 1985. I never saw creeks freeze like they did this year.
Holy cow! That’s not only hard-core that you were able to get yourself to the hospital, but also to go out shooting the very next day with a broken wrist is pretty intense!

Its been - 20's , -30's for the last two weeks here 🥶 miserable! thankfully starting Thursday we climb out of the deep freeze and i can get out to shoot comfortably again.

You’d love photography in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in winter. Ice caves, shorelines, forests, quaint cities, and lots of wildlife.
Dude; EXCELLENT video. I braved the elements this week in Texas with our single digit temperatures to drive out and get a shot an hour outside of town, but I wasn’t brave enough to camp in it. Just proves, no matter the weather, if you want to get the “shot”, you have to brave the elements! Excellent job Nick....

Hey Nick, you probably won't see this comment at this point, but a ferro rod and cotton work great for cold weather. Never have to worry about running out of fuel, and easier to light when your fingers are cold.
