Agreed. Given at least 50% of afl media these days is focussed on opinion / click bait headlines / faux scandals - itâs good to see a coach standing up to it. Have a read of an old newspaperâs sports section and itâs clear how far sports journalism has deteriorated .

Scotty Palmer wouldn't have leaked sensitive information just to break a story like this. Tom Morris gets 50% wrong and then just moves on to the next story. Cut from the same cloth as Caroline Wilson and Damian Barratt. To them the story is more important than the people who may be hurt by the story. Bevo in the right for calling this flog out and happy to see he was stood down.

@@Manseb I'd assume it's because they don't know where the leak is coming from, which means anyone in the club is potentially a suspect and their job/livelihood is in jeopardy until the source of the leak is found.

He didn't when Clarko called out Papley as a diver last year. Tried to give Clarko a lecture about ethics and morals and than Papley went and got cheap diving free kicks the week after making Horse look sanctimonious. Didn't apologise to Clarko for stating facts either.
Beveridge has lost his head and placed massive distrust on staff after he admitted that there are leaks at the club after round 1 just a good way to set the tone for a Premiership tilt....

Hands down Bevo, that was true, bloody awesome, and it shows that he wants to stand up for his club. What a legend.
There are two sides to this. On one hand, Beveridge is frustrated and his attitude is unbecoming of himself and his football club, ironically making himself disgraced in the process of accusing a journalist of the same thing. On the other hand, it is commendable that his action to stand up against biased reporting results in exposing the reporter for his previous actions.
I personally believe that although he may have gone about making his point with slightly more decorum, Luke Beveridge is in fact, in the right to call out reporting bias. Enough is enough, the masses don't want click bait, and clubs are sick of being harassed. Obviously the true irony of this situation is that Beveridge is taking aim at the very industry that will retell this story; in their own light... so I do hope people can see through the fact that intrinsically there will be another bias featured on reporting this very story itself, and that Luke is in actual fact, not incorrect.
Please note, I am not a Western Bulldogs supporter, but am a supporter of free speech and democracy.

Some of the information reported upon is factual, that is true. However by the way that it is phrased, it can be overly detrimental to a football institution such as it has for the Western Bulldogs. Summarily, the way you word things can affect how they are consumed by the reader.
I understand your confusion here, but I hope that this analogy assists in your comprehension of this particular topic.

Journalism continues to sink to murkier depths and it takes a man like Bevo to call out this self-serving behaviour which generates clicks in preference to integrity, respect and support for the game and its people. Tom Morris was called out and then the karma gods struck him. Thank you Bevo for opening this important discussion about what it means to be a decent journalist and citizen and we can only hope that people like Tom and the muck-rackers (Caro, Damo, Robbo, Browny (both of them), Chompers, Garry, Eddie, Sam and the rest of them) do some self reflection and re-alignment of their moral compasses.
