    As a supramolecular polymer chemist, working on "self-healing" polymers, I have to say that this was a really good explanation of healable polymers and the techniques used. I like the fact that you said that the polymers aren't actually "self healable" but are "healable with an external stimuli." Well done Linus!

    • @HoloSkull
      @HoloSkull Před 9 lety +1

      There actually isn't one that I can find that goes into detail. What kind of information are you looking for?
      "I'm still pretty confused about all the a/g/b/n/ac stuff"
      a/b/g/n/ac are all protocols that dictate approximate data rate and range, and possible frequencies. Check wikipedia at /wiki/IEEE_802.11 for more information.
      "and 2,4/5GHz speeds"
      These aren't speeds, but rather frequencies, or wavelengths. The easiest way to explain the difference is to mention that typically to get more range out of the 2.4GHz band, while the 5GHz band offers better stability. The problem with the 2.4GHz band is that it is often cluttered (since damn near every wireless device will be communicating on this band; every device supports it) it also must compete with cordless phones (which typically use the same band) and also has to deal with interference from microwaves.
      Also note that not every device will support communications on the 5GHz band, and not every wireless protocol supports multiple bands of communication (see: b, g).
      "can you just buy a PCI card or USB stick what allows you to connect you to connect to internet?"
      Yes, either or, or both. You'll be able to find wireless NICs (network interface cards) in both a PCI and PCI-e x1 format. Check to see what your computer has available before buying. Note that depending on your available slots, you can install a PCI-e x1 format NIC in a PCI-e x16 slot. It may look weird, and it will affect graphical performance if you are running a GPU in another PCI-e x16 slot, but it works.
      You could instead buy a USB wireless network adapter. The difference between the two is that the USB adapter will have internal antennas to work with, and depending on where you plug it into your PC, may not provide a stable connection as your PC hardware may be blocking part of the signal. A wireless NIC will start off by default possibly having these kinds of issues, but most of them allow you to replace the antenna(s) will that of a higher sensitivity AND one that can be relocated somewhere where there won't be any interference. Check out the TP-LINK TL-ANT2408C Antenna to see what I had in mind (I have quite a few of these).
      Sorry for the length.

      Thanks for the message the length is good because you covered everything I needed to know, I'm going to build a new gaming PC and I was just wondering what all these things meant but now I know, I already have Wlan what is connected to my pc with a wire and my phone gets Wireless connection from it, I've decided to save the money and plug my old Wlan to the new PC when I get it because the old supports wireless.

      @FarzadSaif Před 8 lety +1

      Most of the self healing materials I have heard of are either polymer based or metal based. I haven't heard about anything for glass, so it may be that the self healing compounds will probably make your screen worse instead of better.

      It can. We've already found ways to cure diabetes through stem cell research, which means the human can basically recreate a functional liver or pancreas if required. However the government won't allow hospitals to utilise this research because it could end up being the key to a longer life, resultijg in vast malnourishment and overpopulation.
