Andy, Thank you for your recommendations on the Suzuki 250SS. I bought the outboard a year ago last September for a repower on my Champion 203 DC and I am really happy with the motor. Andy gave me a phone call to check on me and the motor at the time I was on the lake for its first test run. Because I was in Louisiana and due to the Covid outbreak I was not able to buy the motor from him but he still gave me a call to check on me. What a great guy! Thanks again Andy.

For the suzuki rigging try using generous amounts of baby powder on the cables as you run them through the grommet. This might help as a dry lubricant.

I had a 150 hp optimax and it was a good motor. I reported with a Suzuki 225 and I freaking love it. So damn quiet and seems to be a very powerful motor. I know it’s a big difference in horsepower, but the Suzuki seems like a very strong running machine. So far I am impressed.

does Suzuki have anything like the "merc monitor", I use the merc mon to check my maintenance and data and alarms as well as use it for Great Lakes "troll control" mode, or the "link"module that connects to the motor and a Lowance via NEMA. But in the future I may buy a Suzuki, but definitely need some kinda merc mon gauges if I do.

I have a 2020 Mercury 115 Pro XS on my 2021 Beavertail. I've had THREE power trim and tilts go out on it within 15 months of ownership (took delivery of new boat and motor June 2021). All they do is keep replacing the power trim and tilt assembly but no explanation or investigation into why I've had 3 go out in such a short time. I also had my Idle Air Control seize up at 2 hrs. Turns out it was a factory recall due to a bad IAC part...but Mercury dealer didn't bother to replace the part prior to install. That was an easy fix. The motor has been outstanding but just blows my mind that their power trim and tilts are this bad.

Merc is 3 + 3 on the warranty. Suzuki can't compete as far as performance either. On a bass boat you need speed, charging and resale value. Suzuki loses in all 3 of those categories plus the warranty.
