I grew up with a blackberry vine outside my house. My great grandma had transferred a few there before I was born (she died in the 80s and I wasn't even though of for another 2 decades) and I remember waking up almost every day in summer and making something from a few of those berries. Smoothie one day, desserts the next. That type of thing. I hated when they weren't in season because all the vines did was spread thorns otherwise. I wish I could try that mead. It would taste like childhood to me.
I have tons of Himalayan blackberries growing wild by my place. I have been eagerly checking them. Im planning on making a blackberry wine and blackberry mead with them. So excited! Cheers!
Try brewing a Pomegranate Lemon mead, also try juniper berry and hops. I loved these 2 after brewing them. I currently have a batch of peach mead going that used Raspberry Honey.
Got your mead book and its fermentation is going strong! Like ive brewed tons of beer before and ive never had one go this quickly and effectively. Cant wait to bottle it cheers!
>with time much of the rocket fuel harshness mellows out Thank you for the reassurance! My first batch that worked really well felt really strong for some reason, even though I knew it couldn't have gotten to 20% ABV or something crazy.
you're inspiring me to try to make mas at home my guy, love the stuff but you don't see it as often at establishments so I always end up Bevmo, Total Wine and More...etc..etc. Thanks for the awesome tutorials glad you popped up on shorts.
Every time he said my guide I though he was saying might guy and all I could think of was “ now lee the key to make good mead is effort and with that you can make the best mead ever”
Now I've made a lot of beer and I pretty much exclusively use swing top beer bottles. Do they have something like that for wine bottles? Or can I get instead of corks, screw top models and replaceable screw tops?
Been wanting to do a blackberry, blueberry, raspberry mead a real berry medley of flavor, also want to try a pb@j after that with the addition to peanut butter to the berries. Liquid uncrustable sounds good to me and works great in beer n whiskey so why not mead pb@j too. I know a few big mead brands do a pb@j mead.
See I wanna make a mead that’ll make you go blind. I love honey mead but I feel like it can have a higher content than wine if done right. Edit: this is like the third time your content showed up without a sub. Love your stuff man, definitely subbed!
The ultimate decider of the alcohol content is your yeasts tolerance. Most winemaking yeasts will struggle to go stronger than 20-21% alcohol. If you want stronger than that, you'll have to get into distilling, which is a whole other process.
Okay id really love a short on this. You say preserved for years but dosent wine have the ability to age for hundreds of years? Or is that what you mean just many many years. I grasp everything about mead except the ageing now
I'm going to say a strong probably, my family sometimes makes wine from kits the last one we got had wood chips that where meant to go into the fermentation vessel after a certain amount of time, I don't recall what kind of wood chips they are but I'd assume any wood that has a nice flavour that it can impart would work
Yeast can't read. The cap for yeast is just kinda an average abv for that yeast sometimes they won't hit their cap and other times they'll exceed it. Lalvin 71-B exceeds it's cap often in my experience
I doubt it would stink or even have a very strong scent. My family occasionally makes wine and last time it was made in the room right next to my bedroom I never detected a noticeable smell, we've also made it in the dining room before and I don't remember their being any kind of smell then either. I use wine as an example because it's a very similar process to making mead
Can't lie I kind of wish we had a video of him taste testing for the very first time and it being rocket fuel the spit take😂 and not saying that I could do it any better because I have not done this a single time in my life I've only watched videos so yeah I know mine would come out straight up sending people to Jesus
I see you comment. Hopefully you see this I know it’s an older video. Imagine flavors from batch to batch even with the same recipe could probably change looking at that bottling. you able to do 3 1/2 so two jugs will get you pretty much eight bottles of mead? But are you able to mix from a different batch man? I feel like that’s probably a dumb question, but I just don’t know if it would change flavor field even if that matter in all honesty.
Mean with mad honey. Im suggesting it left and right but nobody wants to do it. It would be expensive, but interesting as the Himalayan honey already. Has hallucinogenic propertys
Can you sanitize the bottles by boiling water in them whats the best easiest way to santize the bottles?? And i love your videos btw i wanna try some homemade mead bad ive had some store bought ones but i dont think there hittin like they should
My adhd ass wants to do this, but then the slightly more rashional part of my brain says you don't need another fuckkng hobby. Still cool, tho. Thanks.
Very similar, it's made using honey(and any fruits or botanicals that you want to add though they are not necessary and some purists will say anything made with more than honey doesn't count as mead)
A fun trial run for me was using figs from the backyard. High in rocket fuel, more subtle flavor that got swamped by etoh. Could be a fun rocket addition in a blend. 🦜
I love watching your videos. Please keep making them. They're so relaxing.
Much appreciated
@@goldenhivemeaddo you have a website? I’ve love to purchase a bottle or two if you are selling to the public
@4infinitepretty sure that's illegal
@@bodiray6643no, since they are a company, then it's completely legal
Simple to the point vibes! Love it!
"i have made batches that taste rocketfuel"
this is the best sentence in world

thank you for sharing, it sounds lovely
This is giving some vibes on making fallout drinks
just started my first brew of mead 3 days ago, added juniper berries hibiscus yarrow and apple... wish me luck!
im right behind you

I love your videos!! Keep them coming bro, awesome job!!

Any chance for a longer video or tutorial series going through the whole process? Rather than just one minute videos that cut off at the end?
i remember when i was younger i would use the same corker to help my mom when she bottled her own wine
You’ve done it. I’m going to make mead! Subscribed and thanks!
>with time much of the rocket fuel harshness mellows out
Thank you for the reassurance! My first batch that worked really well felt really strong for some reason, even though I knew it couldn't have gotten to 20% ABV or something crazy.
I want to make a super raspberryish mead. I love raspberries.
I’m making one right now! It’s a super pretty pink color and smells amazing. Should be done in a month
Ngl I'd buy a mead recipe cookbook from you if you had one
He does have one, check his page
Whats ur fav wine that u made blackberry wine is mine me and my dad use to spend days making it
Blackberry so far. It’s so good
you're inspiring me to try to make mas at home my guy, love the stuff but you don't see it as often at establishments so I always end up Bevmo, Total Wine and More...etc..etc. Thanks for the awesome tutorials glad you popped up on shorts.
I have to start doing this!
Blackbriar Meade really did know it was the best for a reason.....huh
I've been wanting to get into mead making for a while now, so imma use this as my sign to finally get into it lmao
But was the corker sanatized? also amazing work.
Ways wondered how you sanitize everything. Like do you just use alcohol wipes??
Every time he said my guide I though he was saying might guy and all I could think of was
“ now lee the key to make good mead is effort and with that you can make the best mead ever”
Now I've made a lot of beer and I pretty much exclusively use swing top beer bottles. Do they have something like that for wine bottles? Or can I get instead of corks, screw top models and replaceable screw tops?
Tip, get a siphon with a tap, then you don’t need to restart it, can you close your tap and carry on to the next bottle.
Do you need a permit or anything to make mead?
Been wanting to do a blackberry, blueberry, raspberry mead a real berry medley of flavor, also want to try a pb@j after that with the addition to peanut butter to the berries. What do you sanitize everything with
Do you have links for the equipment you use? Such as the fermentation bottles/gas escape valve etc..
Yes it's in bio
How do you sanitize the corks?
I make my own mead and I honestly love it. Was it hard to start a business making mead?
how do you wash your fruit? i made topache once and the natural yeast/bacteria gave me sulfur juice
See I wanna make a mead that’ll make you go blind. I love honey mead but I feel like it can have a higher content than wine if done right.
Edit: this is like the third time your content showed up without a sub. Love your stuff man, definitely subbed!

I only drink from the Honningbrew Meadery
Started making mead when I was 17 never needed a fake I'd.
Started at 20 and have never needed my id
how do you knw when to move it from the jar to the jug?
in beer brewing the color of glass usually adds some of the taste since some wont let that much light in, does that apply for mead aswell?
Okay id really love a short on this. You say preserved for years but dosent wine have the ability to age for hundreds of years? Or is that what you mean just many many years. I grasp everything about mead except the ageing now
Any tips for someone living in a high humidity area? My house is pretty much 80+ degrees f and 75% humidity all day long.
This is kind of a obvious suggestion, but if you could get a dehumidifier that works well enough that might help you out
Can you make the mead without yeast
Where can i find the bottles and other things?
Do you use wildflower honey or clover?
After letting it age. How do you get the last little bits of pulp out?
Sooo... you've drunk rocket feul?!
That is *NOT* Mead, But *METHLAGIN* which is honey and fruit fermented Beverage
You tend to always have a large amount of headspace when you rack. Is that ever an issue? I hear that its bad
You pleh too mash skyrim 😂
Do you degas your mead during fermentation
I need some of this
I wonder is you can make wine with oak and apple wood. Please please try
I'm going to say a strong probably, my family sometimes makes wine from kits the last one we got had wood chips that where meant to go into the fermentation vessel after a certain amount of time, I don't recall what kind of wood chips they are but I'd assume any wood that has a nice flavour that it can impart would work
18.3% ABV? The highest I’ve ever been able to hit on my homebrews is 12%. What strain of yeast did you use for this one?
Same. This was very surprising. I used KV 1116 which typically caps out around 15%. I guess this was the perfect environment for them
Yeast can't read. The cap for yeast is just kinda an average abv for that yeast sometimes they won't hit their cap and other times they'll exceed it. Lalvin 71-B exceeds it's cap often in my experience
Can i let it sit for many months without any disadvantage before bottling?
If someone wanted to try this whats the cost, generally, to get started?
Does the gas peoduced in the process stink? Or in general, what does it smell like?
I doubt it would stink or even have a very strong scent. My family occasionally makes wine and last time it was made in the room right next to my bedroom I never detected a noticeable smell, we've also made it in the dining room before and I don't remember their being any kind of smell then either. I use wine as an example because it's a very similar process to making mead
How important is knowing the alcohol level? That's the one part I think might be troubling as me and math do not get along lol
i love that Americans call brandies with over 60% alcohol rocket fuel in balkan we call that rachiu/rakja
Do you sell? I'd love to try some of this.
Can't lie I kind of wish we had a video of him taste testing for the very first time and it being rocket fuel the spit take😂 and not saying that I could do it any better because I have not done this a single time in my life I've only watched videos so yeah I know mine would come out straight up sending people to Jesus

Isn't that too much headspace in secondary or does that not matter that much?
It’s not ideal, but it wasn’t enough to oxidize it luckily
@@goldenhivemeadi like your response here admitting that it's not ideal I hope a lot of people can learn from you
Can you sanitize the bottles by boiling water in them whats the best easiest way to santize the bottles?? And i love your videos btw i wanna try some homemade mead bad ive had some store bought ones but i dont think there hittin like they should
How do you know the alcohol content of what you make, enough to put it on the label?
What was the alcohol content in these 18 or 13%?
My adhd ass wants to do this, but then the slightly more rashional part of my brain says you don't need another fuckkng hobby. Still cool, tho. Thanks.
How do you measure alcohol content?
It depends how many strains of yeast and ammount you add, im no expert but simple wine and such can go 15% before the yeast dies.
I need the instructions please as i have a massive blue berry tree
bro who thinks that “fermentation” sounds complicated
No one, it's just stuff getting eaten
So is mead like wine?
Very similar, it's made using honey(and any fruits or botanicals that you want to add though they are not necessary and some purists will say anything made with more than honey doesn't count as mead)
How much is one bottle
Alternatively use brown sugar
Bean mead?
Do you sell your Mead
You sell ?
You don’t need corks if you down every bottle in a day
How do you know what rocket fuel tastes like?
Don't let the black-brair family see this....
Black briar mead
you know if you put corks in hot water will help to...lol
Can u just put the fruit in the car boy
I'm pretty sure bottle opaqueness does matter because UV radiation is an unfriendly constant
Isn’t this a melanomel and not a whine?
I can make rocket fule 😂😂😂 but it's illegal
TWU
They violin accurately portrays the time wasted all for a terrible end result
Not mead.
You gave no instructions 🤷🏼♂️... (How to make). Not being a jerk, just saying that your title says... --> How to make
Why are you making alcohol in your home
Bruh leave him alone
Why should I that is illegal
No it aint
Bruh this kid is probably 6
Bro stop that’s rude
