What's better is that you can now get an official refurbished Steam Deck for $280
I got excited and checked. They are out of stock
@@acecalderon8376 don't worry they'll be in stock again, I saw them in stock 3 days ago
@@acecalderon8376bummer you missed it they were actually in stock for a few days this time
Yeah I thought I got a steal when I bought the Deck new and now seeing what they’re going refurbished and on marketplace, they’re an absolute bargain.
@@acecalderon8376the 256gb is in stock for me it's 319.99.
Oled is also easier to open up there using higher quality screws on the oled it basically screws inti metal housing instead of plastic its makes it harder to strip them after multiple times opening the device
My girlfriend traded in her switch, an extra set of joycons, and 3 games and got $275 for it all.
Went to another GameStop that had a steamdeck and got the 516gb (That’s all they had) with warranty and a screen protector. I ended up paying about $60 out of pocket for the rest plus warranty and the protector.
Absolutely 10/10 with my experience
is it the OLED?
That’s a pretty sweet deal, especially considering you can still play most switch games if you’re willing to try out emudeck.
And please consider getting a ssd replacement that has the same wattage as tte og drive was a bigger issue with overheating with the morded 2242 or 2280 people stuffed in them vut anyway yes getting the same wattage will probably he safer especially for a refurbished. Valve themselves talked about how hard it was to cool be safe
Didn’t know that, just tossed in the cheapest 512 GB SSD I could find and it’s been fine so far. Will keep that in mind if I ever need to upgrade again
Great Video.
Thanks!!!
How are you handling the touchpad and ps button?
I’ve mapped the touchpad to the Steamdeck’s right trackpad and the PS button to one of the extra back buttons.
I have a steamdeck oled and recently got a playstation portal.the portal feels better to hold the dualsense haptic are a nice addition to handheld play.however there is no comparison when it comes to streaming games from the ps5.the oled steamdeck is smooth with no stuttering and next to zero latency.the portal stutters badly and is unplayable I have tried all the portal tips like hardwire ps5,lower resolution etc.i find it ridiculous that a free app on steamdeck is far superior to Sony remote play,Sony need to sort it out ASAP as if the portal ran as smooth as chiaki it would be my preferred way to play.tho Sony being Sony I'm almost certain that they will do nothing to rectify the problem.
Oh wow, was expecting you to say the Portal is smoother. They really should have just put android on it, then you’d be able to do other stuff like lighter mobile games or CZcams/Netflix… or use Chiaki lol. Even if it was smoother it’s still a single use device and I can’t justify spending that much for something that does only one thing.
Thanks for the insight, hope you enjoyed the video!
Great deals on steam deck. I got the OLED after owning the lcd one for like 2 years. I know the lcd looks great at 300 but the OLED hdr display is way better. I went from 2 hours barely in elden to nearly 3.
Glad to heard, due to currency conversion and import costs the OLED is significantly more expensive than the LCD. I’ll be sticking with the LCD for now as it meets my needs, will wait for the next generation steam deck in a few years.
@@salocin9009 better stick with lcd only few difference to be honest go for Rog ally extreme instead the performance is better, but battery life sucks.
the site btw to even get this even set up is offline right now found this out from another video.
Are you talking about the PlayStation sign in page? Because I had the same problem, it sometimes doesn’t work. Just try again later and it will eventually work, at least in my experience.
Only ps5 or "a PlayStation" like a 4 pro?
It work on all PS4 and PS5 consoles including the PS4 Pro
There is no lag on my portal even Playing HD2 100down15up 5gz wifi band one device at a time, hardwire ps5. That fking fan noise on SD. I hope next one be quite like switch or portal. I cant stand noise just to give context i drive around with earplugs on.
Weird, I haven’t experienced any fan noise when remote playing on the Deck since Chiaki4deck is soo easy to run. I only notice it when I’m playing a really demanding game and even then it’s not that loud, I know different steam decks have different fans so maybe I got lucky. No fan noise would be perfect but that’s the cost of greater performance I guess.
Glad to hear the Portal works for you, no hate for the device, I just think the situations where it makes sense to get one are limited.
@@salocin9009 I am happy with portal, I sold switch after playing Zelda TOTK will buy another when next Zelda release 😂🥲. I live in Australia, bought sd through a 3rd party Marketplace, I couldn't bear the noise so sold it after a month. I sold my 3080, i712th gen PC from Alienware because of noise. I am waiting for a handheld with minimal noise or no noise 😂. If it comes out that's the day 1 purchase. There are rumors that Xbox is making a handheld, If they do I think that will be the one with minimal noise.
@@SM-ov7yi Yeah, it’s gonna be awesome once we can get good performance with passive cooling. I hate fans as they’re just a mechanical failure waiting to happen, the less moving parts the better. Maybe one of Apple’s M series chips is the play, especially after seeing the performance they’ve been able to get out of the latest iPads.
If your wifi is good enough id run it at 1080p resolution it will just downscale it but should look better. As far as your setup ps5 should really be connected with ethernet to the router.
Ok thanks for the tip, I might have to try 1080p and see if it looks any better to my eye. The current floor plan means ethernet is not an option, doesn’t really matter to me anyway since latency is good enough and I’m already maxing out the speeds of my internet plan over wireless.
@@salocin9009 just so you know ps5 to steam deck connection has nothing to do with your internet speed:) it's all local you could unplug your modem from router and it would still work... but yeah if it's not an option then it is what it is.
To be honest you can make most modern stuff a much better PS Portal with a Bluetooth controller similar to the backbone. Wild how $200 gets you a handheld that cant even function without internet, defeating the entire point of a handheld.
You’re absolute right, this video is just about how the Steamdeck is a better portal. Any device you already own capable of remote play is a better option than a portal lol, I could probably make a video about how the iPad and a Dualsense are a better PS Portal
Man that sucks here in the US the ultimate tier of GeForce now is only $20 a month and if you buy a 6-month subscription it's basically $16 and you get 4K 120 frames per second totally blows away your experience.
$20 US is approx $30 AUD after currency conversion, so in the end it’s about the same price. Glad you were able to make it work though, probably helps that internet is a lot better in the US than here in Australia.
The Steam Deck is amazing and of course, a better overall device. It's a valid option as a remote player but it's not better than the portal, the weight, mechanics, the screen and ease of use make it better. Comparing the additional features isn't really fair their two very different devices at two different price points. I do think Sony needs to ease up and allow us to get more functionality out of it. If all you want is PS game on the go the portal is better for that.
I agree that the Portal beats out the Steamdeck when strictly comparing remote play capabilities, even then Steamdeck has the ability to output to a monitor and run full discord at the same time so depending on what you value the Steamdeck may come out on top if you only want remote play. I think the portal is a good product but in many cases you’ll already have a good enough option in your inventory, already owning a Steamdeck is one of those cases imo.
I run 720p n get nearly zero latency I play warzone or cod mp with ease
Nice, I don’t play those games but glad to hear they work well with streaming too
Come on man, warzone is hard to play with these settings too unless you are ghost of caldera
"Casual games like HellDivers 2", seriously?
Casual in the sense that you don’t need insane accuracy, yes the game can get very intense but I wouldn’t call it competitive like COD or The Finals. o7
At that price point, it better perform and look better than the portal.
I use chiaki4deck on my legion go its great I play at 1080p 60fps then I paired it with lossless scaling for even better experience
Oh wow I never thought of upscaling the stream, smart way to save bandwidth since you can stream a lower res or to get around resolution limitations set by the streaming provider.
@@salocin9009 yes it's great so I have my stream set to 1080p and as the legion go is 1600p screen I get an even better experience
For 2 hours ... Deck can run this for 8-10
@@hk6926 it can run longer when streaming as it doesn't need to be on high tdp so I can get near deck times as ps5 is doing most of the work tbh. But yeah I just didn't like the look of the steak deck I preferred how the legion go looked but both great devices I don't care about the "war" between better or not as long as the person buying it likes it
That is so dumb.
