  • This joystick mod is not for the faint of heart! Skill level needed for sure!
    Its def worth it imo but I will soon be getting some hall effect sticks to compare, and may try to mod these even further soon!

    Dude, thank you so much for this. I'd all but given up after snapping all 4 clips on the backplate but after your suggestion that it'll still attach with the side clips bent in - absolute hero. I wasn't changing the springs per your plan and instead fixing the right stick that was dead horizontally after only 2 weeks of albeit kinda intense use. The top/horizontal part had come out of its mechanism/slot. Saved me from ordering a new one!
    Earned a sub from me!

    Following this video, I skipped the spring mod and I found that if you jam up the plunger with a sliver of tape to make it fit more snug, you can eliminate the play at the center of the sticks. Made fps games more enjoyable for me on this thing 👍

    Great tutorial man. I can't believe there aren't more like this given how loosey-goosey the Ally's thumb sticks feel. I might not even do the mod but here's a tip from a fellow tech nerd 😁 Oh and was wondering, have u stretched the springs beyond what's in the tutorial? I like mine extra stiff (is what she said)

    • @cppctek
      @cppctek  Před 26 dny +1

      Thank you so so much !! And yes I like it tight and stiff too lol 😆 but yeah I’ve gone past that. I’ve also used the springs out of the handheld diy brand tighter hall sticks and those works great too if you have them but the Hall effect sticks themselves the sensor on the left gets messed with when you using the trigger and reduces direction. I have been meaning to do a more up to date joystick guide. I will be doing one soon for sure. Thanks again. !! 💕💕🤠🤠

      @@usagitivi4054just take cap off and wrap tape on the stem of the joystick itself and how much it depends on how loose your caps feel wrap some push the caps back on and see how they feel if still loose wrap some more but an inch to 2 inches should be enough

      I mostly play shooters competitively on m&k but with the 120 hz I enjoy the thought of being able to play relatively competitive on the go with the sticks. Would the tighter sticks make enough of a difference for accuracy to feel more comfortable for shooters? I’m newish to controller playing

    Do you know, if I took the springs from a standard xb1/ds4 ALPS analog module would they fit and be a higher tension than the oem springs in the Ally ones?

    • @cppctek
      @cppctek  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Unfortunately they wouldn’t fit. They are too wide to fit inside the hole. That’s the first thing I tried. I ruined a few controllers too busting springs out lol 😂

  • @belleparsons6779
    @belleparsons6779 Před 9 měsíci +2

    My right joystick kicked the bucket and I’m about to replace both with Hall effect joysticks. I find them too loose too, so I may stretch the springs while I’m in there as well. Question though, on whether you think I could do this. I’m a little hesitant: I’ve built my own computers and also upgraded my laptop internals. I don’t have much worry about simply replacing them, but I do worry about taking them apart to this extent.
    Could someone help me if I fudge it up? Lmao!

    • @cppctek
      @cppctek  Před 6 měsíci

      That’s cotton does nothin for the spring tension if you’re just setting it under the joystick cap. Unless you’re taking the entire joystick apart and taking the spring out and then shoving cotton inside the spring cup and using that as a spacer but even then that will get caught up eventually. Horrible idea lol

    • @carimpest
      @carimpest Před 6 měsíci

    Hi, im planning to take care of my gp66 disgusting temperatures using Gelid thermal pads and shimming gpu by 0.3mm as You suggested. How are your cpu temperatures tho? In the video of gp66 teardown comments You said to "Use thicker layer of thermal paste on the cpu", did the die contacted fine? I wanna make sure cuz my biggest concern were extremely high cpu temperatures. If you could give me link to reddit post about gp66 you created it would mean a lot to me as it's not in the video description. Thanks
