I feel like Helicopters shouldn't blow up, if they get shot enough in thier engine or take rotor they should lose control and crash.
The pilots and passengers should have a 20-30 percent chance to survive a crash
Feel like it would make it more interesting, give the enemy team more incentive to cheek a crash site for survivors and give the passengers a chance to carry on thier mission
Thing is, skilled pilots can still land very easily without an engine or rotor, and once people git gud with the squad helos, shooting people down will by Nye impossible without blowing them up. But I do agree with the chance of surviving thing, I think it will add alot of interesting moments
@@catfunt5583 yeah, a skilled pilot can land a pretty damaged bird, but if that bird blows up just from machine gun fire they might not get the chance to try and land
that'll be great.... 0% hull, instead of exploding the heli, it triggers the malfunction of the rotors instantly (50% chance of the main rotor, or Tail rotor) then it starts to spin or fall
helicopters can blow up just like jets they use the same fuel which is usually what makes the big ball of flames
@@fivemeomedia yes,but unless these helis are hit directly in the tank or on a fuel line the chance of it completely combusting from small arms or .50 rounds are slim.
Engine catches fire? Yeah I can see that, but instantly blowing up like in the game? Nah
If it's hit by 30mm in certain spots I can see that being a pretty bleak situation but most of the time they are more then likely going to be battling infantry or other Helicopters
If ur okay with the effort to make this, i would recommend u to try a mix of both, infantry and helo gameplay but edited to show both perspective of the same encounter, maybe some footage of a mate as inf used for that.

Eventually it will happen. Squad evolved from Project Reality mod for BF2 and that has jets so expect the same for Squad via it's mod support.
I believe air strikes and artillery will be commander call in's when OWI release that in the next release or two. Very exciting but also could affect balance quite a lot...

Definitely a mix, although the helios need all the features just as rappeling or medical treatment. It would be awesome if a commander could take a command position in the helo for coordination with ground teams in squads.
A one life event helo medevac scenario would be dope.
I really like the Helo pilot only videos. Maybe after a while you might want to make the vids more varied but for the time being I love seeing the heli content
I think a mix of both would be awsome but also other vehicle combat would be cool as well. Great vid keep up the good work

I was the only one to survive that first hot drop at 4:20. I ended up walking half the map back to the battlefield, but i survived.

Never went back around for your buddy... The blackhawks I flew on usually run routes...maybe try creating good routes and coordinated rallypoints, CASEVAC's etc etc... but what do i know. I'm just an old infantry grunt.

they'd need to add a dedicated anti-air role and maybe some AAA vics for balance
@@aceambling7685 in the squad SDK there is something about a AA role for infantry. Idk if it's going to be put in but it's there.
The helis are strictly transport so nothing about them makes tanks obsolete. Let’s say players could fly the a10 warthog. That would make tanks obsolete. But not really. The airstrike could only be as good as the call out for it. And if the airstrike is more a feature than a player controlled plane then it will have a timer and the tank would likely relocate.
It wont make tanks obsolete, just like tanks did not make APCs obsolete, APCs trucks, and trucks infantry.

VRS means you can't land down directly or backwards. The dirty air has no lift.

Hopefully they fix the cockpit of the Mi8. The one they went with it’s horrible and not even close to the original. They could do a correct one but updated with glass if they wanted.

The penalty for destroyed helicopters must be worth the risk associated with more rapidly deploying forces deeper, right? Violence of action, forward momentum, etc.
There is only hot, or not hot. There is no in-between.

You can also start droping Spec Ops insertions, scouts, harassing Op elements, small teams for spotting mortars, Op4 surveillance, supply drops, medic,repair station set up, troop support gun runs blah blah blah
And this right here along with Squads mod support is the real BF killer not that P2W CoD hype train. Hell Squad is not only going to outlive both BF live service scams but CoD MW as well.

Just my opinion but one side or the other should have a helicopter to keep things a bit fair. Although it would be fun to watch a whole event with nothing but air to air combat.
