Everyone says to cherish watching the elder statesmen like lebron and kd and steph. But luka just makes the game look so easy and fun and we should never take his greatness for granted.

When coach Gregg Poppovich says before the game "were going to hold him to under 50," he still scores 50 that game and after the game Poppovich said that there's no one defense to stop him you have to hope he's missing his shots. You can believe he's telling the truth. Luka has the answer to every defense that's thrown at him. He's the most doubled and tripled team player and he's the most blitzed player as well and he's averaging 34pts on insane efficiency. Offensively the NBA has never seen anyone like him.

I wanted the Mavs to go after Lonzo when he went to Chicago because I knew he was going to be a great player. The last season he played he was shooting 40% from deep and close to 45% on spot-up 3s. The mavs could really use that accuracy right now.

My biggest gripe is the gatekeeping and double standards in MVP discussions from Nuggets fans. Anytime someone argues Luka or Shai for MVP, Nuggets fans just move goalposts, spew cherry picked stats, and claim the race is already concluded when the season isnt even over
As a casual fan, wdym? You'd have to cherrypick for Shai and Luka. Jokic is Top 10 at least in almost every stat. He's higher than them in every advanced statistic, topping almost every one. His counting stats are worse, but he's much more efficient. Plus, Luka's usage rate is literally top of the league while Jokic barely has the ball and still gets all his touches.
Ain't only using counting stats the definition of cherrypicking? Not saying you're wrong, just that it's hard to make a case for anyone other than Jokic without cherrypicking counting stats, no? Plus, Denver's the No. 1 seed now. Casual here though so could be wrong.
The MVP discussion has been quite silly, the talk has been about standings, but not even mentioning injuries or the quality of the team. Anyway, it's between Luka and Jokic, the others don't stand a chance as of now.
It's fantastic to watch Luka, 1v1 or 1v2 play is just spectacular and being the most blitzed player in the league by a mile says a lot. When it comes to teamwork it has become much better now that he has some real centers and good options to pass. The team has defense and it looks like he has been pushed to improve there, which he has a lot. At times the team looks like a bunch of monsters and I wouldn't be surprised if many players don't want to face Luka and the Mavs during playoffs.

This video only reinforces my opinion on Luka for MVP. Team seeding aside (even tho theyre not even far from being the 4th seed) Luka is THE most valuable PLAYER for their TEAM.
If Luka isnt on the team, the mavs would never be in the playoffs.

Joker leads the league in PER, win shares, box plus/minus and VORP. Per 36 mins joker and Lukas stats are pretty evenly matched other than Jokic is doing it way more efficiently. Luka still has some catching up to do if he is gonna win MVP
He arguably had the best rookie season ever statistically. I know other rookies made it farther in the playoffs but that's because they were on better teams. Statistically Luka or Lebron had the best rookie season ever, and I will go with Luka because he was a better shooter and passer in my opinion.
Luka has definitely been the best player in the league this season. People always point to Jokic's advanced stats to force his narrative, but they are strongly dependent on the team. Luka was carrying depleted roster for a long stretch of the season to a respectable record. He has been dominating game after game after game with scoring and playmaking. He is averaging almost 10 points more than Jokic and was simply better, considering that Jokic can just coast in a lot of games and allow his teammates to take over for him. Sometimes pure stats and eye test are better indicators than advanced stats. Luka is the MVP and it is time for people to admit that. When it comes to that Jokic 6 seed MVP - the league was way less competitive at the time with a lot of teams actively tanking. That Nuggets team would not even make a play-in this year, even with Jokic going crazy.

luka IS the best player in the world, i said it since the summer (during the world cup) and he has only gotten better since, he took his conditioning seriously, he improved his decision making, he isnt crying to referees as much even though he has a bad whistle nonstop, his team improved a lot and he carried his team the whole season while they were the 3rd most injured team and while before the trade his support cast was objectively bad apart from kyrie... idk what more he has to do to be considered mvp this season, it's absurd

Unfortunately, the narrative is not really in Luka's favor. Kyrie, Lively, Green, Klever and Exum have missed more than 100 games together but the injury narrative never comes up in the media, quite the opposite, they even discredited Luka's 73 when just a week prior, they gave all the flowers to Embiid - he was having a great season but he lets a lot to be desired in his Playoffs performance to grab a back-to-back MVP. Since Westbrook and Jokic won as a 6th seed (47W and 48W, respectively) Luka should have a chance even as a 6th seed but even when the Mavs were #1 seed or held their #4 in the beginning of the season Luka was never #1 in the MVP ladder. The difference between the 4th and 8th is so minimal this season that it's hard to give it the same weight as in some other season.

This season alone he is generating the most offense for a player when combining points, assists, and rebounds since 1972, second only to Kareem that season, he had the most efficient 70 ball in NBA history, and he set the record for most consecutive 30 point triple doubles in NBA history. He is practically averaging a 34 point triple double for the season. If that doesn't make a player the best in the world I don't know what does.

Possible outcomes: Mavs get 4th seed and first round home court and Luka wins MVP. Clippers/Denver is much tougher than staying in the 6th seed and face OKC/Minn. Easier path to WCF.
Who is saying that Denver will clearly be 1st? Right now they are dead even on losses with the 2nd and 3rd seed. So everything from 1-3 is possible... And even if, you play to win, not to look for a maybe easier schedule.
Clippers are the easiest opponent, they’re 11-12 in the last 23 games. Pelicans gotta be in this breakdown too. Looks to me like mavs/pels in the first round, clippers fall to 6 seed and face the tims. Just my opinion.

And in 2022 Luka wasnt as efficient as he is right now, not even close. His indiv ORtg was 110, compared to 122 right now. A TS% of 57% vs a TS% of 61.5% right now. He shot only 53% from 2 (57% right now), 35% from 3 (37.5% right now), his TO% was way higer (15.3% vs 12.5% right now)... he just wasnt nearly as good in 2022 then he is right now. And clearly worse then Jokic was that season. He didnt deserve the MVP back in 2022. But he has a real case right now. So why are you talking about the past, not the current season? Not to mention he (by his own word) came into the 2022 season overweight and out of shape. So no, Jokic deserved the MVP in 2022. And Luka (considdering all the injuries to our players) deserves the MVP this season.
