Not a scam, you just overpaid. No one scammed you, they said a price and you paid it. Travel Vloggers need to be very careful throwing the 'S' word around. We lived in HoiAn for a year and were overcharged a lot, but never Scammed.
If they wanted money for the photo, just give them 10,000. Not like they were going to beat you up.

Lots of westerner complain if they've been charged an extra $, but at home they happily pay x-times more for the same stuff.
Even in Cairns/Australia, we locals get lots of discounts in pubs and restaurants.....it's just the way it works all over the world.
Agree mate, you should have bargained or declined to buy the fruits. Nevertheless, they are signficantly cheaper and fresher than Australia.

i think when in Vietnam please be aware of many scams. when in HCMC, any coconut seller walk close to me and offer to lift the bamboo pole on my shoulder.he little bit force me to did it. but i aware and then walked away from him. but, i don't know i set Vietnam as a my favourite country in SEA although scam spreads everywhere for tourist.
In France you can get charcoal granules in pharmacies for stomach problems, such as indigestion.

Lol yea that scam happens all the time with tourist. These ladies usually target folks like that. But my advice is for you stop them don’t take pictures yet find something you like in their basket then bargain for it after making the purchase then asked to take a picture without having to pay because you already bought some thing. Is it a scam? More a sale tactic, if anything. You can always decline and delete the footage or just give them 10k and enjoy the experience. Not everything is a scam.

I'm waiting for you to run into the coconut scam. You offer to buy 1 coconut from a street vendor and he starts breaking open one coconut after another and you have to tackle him to stop, because he will charge you for all those coconuts.

We will never forget Hoi An - got to know the hospital really well after really bad food poisoning …. Only bad meal in 4 weeks of travelling Vietnam …

Depends what you’re after but the top 3 for me are Saigon (For food), Da Nang (Relaxation) and Hoi An

Such a rookie mistake. You should always ask the price from 2-3 different Vendors before buying. Even if you're not interested, just ask the price per kg so you can get a feel of what things costs.

I got scammed. I paid almost US$10 for the mangosteen when I visited Hoi An & they ALL were rotten!
