  • It's about time that I go through all of my books and decide which ones I really want to prioritize. But also I'm incapable of making decisions by myself. So please comment about any books you would like to save from my unhaul pile!

You should be strong with the knowledge of your own opinions. Keep your books if you want. I only get rid of extra copies that I don't want/ or books that other people stick me with thinking that I'd like them.

I absolutely loved The Appeal, The Midnight Library and Sea of Tranquility so happy to hear you're keeping those. I think How to Stop Time is worth reading. It's one of my favourite science fiction books of all time. I reckon you could let Beautiful World Where Are You go. It was completely forgettable for me!

I just read Mother Night a month or so ago and loved it! It might be one of my favorites novels by Kurt Vonnegut, but I think it was right time and place. It was a quick witty read, which is what I needed. I am also hear to support un-hauling! So it goes.

True History of the Kelly Gang is my favourite Peter Carey novel, had it on my shelf for years, I was also born in Kelly Country and know a lot of the places talked about in the book, Ned Kelly was not just a bushranger but a freedom fighter to some, please try it before unhauling. I probably need to reread it, it's a keeper to me. Get rid of the Rooney, it's such a frustrating book, watch the TV series instead.

  • @AliceandtheGiantBookshelf

I forced myself to read True History of the Kelly Gang and wholeheartedly agree with your decision to unhaul. Yawn. Also good call on Whisper of Death, you should absolutely read that! Loved Christopher Pike as a teenager and that was one of my favourites. I want to reread it to see how it is as an adult! Can’t wait to see your thoughts on A Clockwork Orange.

Midnight library is a very repetitive just so you know- it’s like the same thing over and over and not really a good idea. But that was just my opinion 🤷🏻‍♀️

More shelves is my solution. Hoarder alert. I’d have to take an antihistamine after a clear out. I loved Carey’s True History of the Kelly Gang. And Milk Fed. I wouldn’t get rid of such lovely editions.

Humankind by Rutger Bergman is excellent. If you liked Sapiens I think you'll like Humankind.

  • @AliceandtheGiantBookshelf

I’m sad you’re unhauling those super cool editions of The Southern Reach trilogy, probably because I read them from the library so had to take them back! 😂

I may be in a minority, but I really like beautiful world where are you. For me, I enjoyed it a lot more than the other two books. The characters are older and so felt more relevant.

I feel like when it came out, I heard tons of great things about it. But maybe it's one of those things that reached a wider audience than it should have because of all the hype and then the people that only read because of that weren't happy with it lol

really didn’t like The Water Cure (in fact it was my least favourite book the year it came out and I was so excited to read it). I’ve heard really good things about Milk Fed and would have just bought it (maybe read the first couple of chapters). The Perks of Being a Wallflower is one of my favourite books I’ve read this year.

I have a few copies of Infinite Jest. At times -on vacation-I’d buy a new copy. But never would get past the first 20 pages. Any chance you might do a book club over several months? I feel like I need assistance. And… I’m heading out on a trip in July. My concern is will I have the will power not to buy another copy. Oh one more thing--love your Ted Lasso series. Putting some of them on my TBR. Bird by Bird is an all time favorite.

first of all you should read "The perks of being a wallflower" 5 stars from me.
one more question I am planning to start a booktube channel to keep me on track with reading. any words of wisdom for me.

    • @FreshlyReadBooks
      @FreshlyReadBooks  Před rokem +1

I would just suggest focusing on the books and genres you most want to read! There is an audience out there for every type of book, so you should never feel like there are certain books you "have to" read. Good luck!
