  • Experts have long touted the benefits of taking a vitamin D supplement, with Canada’s food guide recommending everyone over the age of two take the sunshine vitamin every day. Most of us don’t get enough vitamin D from our food sources and we don’t get enough natural sun in the winter to make up for that deficiency. Dr. Jacqueline Petterson, a neurologist and professor in the department of medicine at the University of Northern B.C. joins Dan Burritt to talk about what Vitamin D does for our health

My primary doc tests my vit d level each year at my physical. It’s usually around 74. I read it should be higher than 50 but not over 80. At my last blood draw my vit d was 29. So I bought a more bio available brand and began taking 10,000IU 2x a day. Did that for 3 months and now I am takin 5,000IU 2x a day. Getting retested in a week.
I haven’t been sick in over 3 years. You need to take K2/M7 along with taking D, or calcium won't go into your bones, and instead can go into your deep tissues & arteries.

I need to take 7,500 iu's to be at an optimal level of 120-150. I've tested several times over the last couple of years to figure out the dosage. Looked up my genetics through 23andme and Ancestry raw data, and I have a couple of polymorphisms that reduce vit. D absorption. Multiple studies show vitamin D levels of 120 to 150 nm/ol reduce breast cancer by 80%.

This is why countries in the upper hemisphere are considerable milk drinkers. Countries near the equator? Don't need it as much.

Except milk does not naturally contain vitamin d. It is added as a supplement. Calves make their own vitamin d from sunlight.

Wasn't this type of redirect considered borderline conspiracy talk during the pandemic? Oh the irony

So the question is, why are bc physicians incompetent to deal with vitamin deficiencies? Do they get their medical licenses out of a box of cracker jacks? Bc is the wild west of healthcare.

It’s not just BC. Nova Scotia won’t even let our doctors test for Vitamin D. I have a longstanding deficiency and symptoms that could be explained by low Vitamin D
