Wow, I thought this was a great performance!
The girl has a great voice,
That bass tone...
And the drummer could not have been any tighter!
cheers!
I saw them two days ago in Connecticut and was blown away. The drummer is really, really good!!! The whole performance was great! It was a _tiny_ venue and I was right up front the whole time. Alan Wilkis (Big Data himself!) was super friendly, too. :) So was the whole band! L1ZY (Lizy?) was super! I want to see this band win Grammies. They're WAY better than a lot of bands I hear on the radio. (Get off my lawn, darn kids!) The bands opening up were Fitness (FitnessWasTaken.com) and Castle Comer. THEY were great, too!!!!
@@GunnarOlsenMusic I saw you last night with Puscifer in Seattle and had to find this to tell you you were amazing!! Congrats on the success, you've earned it dude!!
Who is she? Who are the band members?
About half way through that drummer is GONE...He's in drum world....amazing drummer too. Just AMAZING.
agree lol
+James Barr To me he is the best Gunnar Olsen, he has a youtube channel, best drummer I've seen in ages!
+Ernani Joppert Gunnar, Justin Nace (Pvris) and Jason Gerycz (Cloud Nothings) 3 top drummers IMO right now. Personally know Jason
great place to get lost at
I thought that was Gunnar Olsen!
Bass line of the year. But damn that drummer steals the show. I really like how the drums were mic'd in this performance too. Good stuff!
finn maguire He is the Jerry Cantrell of drummers...looks just like Jerry too.
James Barr Daaaamn, can you imagine being called the Jerry Cantrell of something? I wanna be the Jerry Cantrell of mt biking.
Listening to "Anger Rising". Best damn chord progression ever written.
Imagine being Cantrell and being able to play like that for 1 day.
finn maguire thanks!!
Damn that drummer is pretty dope, terrific performance.
Cheers!
Gunnar Olsen Oh shit you're actually the drummer. Excellent work man.
Long Term Effect You're right, it is groovy. One thing I picked up on that I venture is overlooked by many is his regular muting of the crash cymbals. It is even more evident in the studio take, but I really dig how he, Gunnar I gather, is very deliberate with the mutes. We always see drummers reach to mute as fast as they can, if at all. Whereas here you see the stick man consciously let it ring out until he doesn't want it ringing anymore. As it were right on the back beat. We always put our focus on when a note begins and therefore underestimate how it's equally important when a note ends. Gunnar has this figured out, and as a result this groove can really breath. I always find myself complaining that drummers over use cymbals, but it appears Mr. Olsen and I could be mates. My name is Mr. Funk and I approve this Big Data message.
Mr Funk Hell Yeah man! cheers!
Gunnar Olsen I'm in love with you. Marry me.
Gunnar just crushes this, taking the song to a whole new level. With so many inventive fills, syncopation, different tones, and distinct sections ... OMG. I love those extra hits he throws in at 3:01. I jog to this on repeat!
David Chaffee thanks man!
@@GunnarOlsenMusic well deserved accolades, i love a timable on the left ;)
Just watched it again for the umpteenth time. Great performance of a really cool song. Both vocalists nailed it and were totally in the moment. Bass was like a giant irregular electric heartbeat on acid. Loved it. Thanks for sharing.
My daughter's first concert at 6 yrs old. Big Data opening for Fitz and the Tantrums in Detroit. Killer show. Made me a fan for life. And my daughter too. 💜
That is an amazing bass line. This duo should stay together, they harmonize very well and I think the guy may be the next Elvis Costello. So don't leave the band too soon young lady.
You should check out a film called Scott Pilgrim-Beck wrote the tunes in it, very similar fuzz bass style
This is the best video of this song I have seen liz ryan lights it up !!!!!!
Tight drumming! Simple and to the point. Great energy...
cheers!
forgot all about this.... at least 5 years. all hail the algorithm. thank.
I freaking love Alan's excitement about this.
I forgot what a banger this song is.
Fantastic! Just when I had given up on anything new or meaningful from the piss the music companies put out... A driving bass beat and funky lyrics... rock lives on!!!!!
just heard this for the first time the other night. new favorite band.
This song is epic...great job guys!!!
Every part of this masterpiece is epic! the drum pattern and bass lines are amazing!!!!!!
I'll say it again: Best. Love. Song. Ever. 😁💖

@@LaNoir. Okay, LaNoir... 😐
such an amazing song!!!!
The female singer has the voice of an angel.
Just fantastic. She's amazing
What an awesome song! It’s one of the tunes that brilliantly perfect.
I don't know what to say except THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an incredible drummer!
Great song, great group.
Still the best version of this song I've heard freekin great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bass tone is stellar.
Modern day.. Soft Cell, AMAZING
Absolutely the best live version out there. Period. You shold hire that drummer and bass player everytime.
Konrad Kozłowski I agree. Love, love, love this song and this version takes it to a whole new level. I can’t get enough!
@@joanieharmon7948 Absolutely!! This is awesome!
I absolutely love, love, love, love, love this!!!!!+
My fav song this year; blow it up on 94.5 FM Houston.

*Bassline

Idk what youre watching but im watching baseball.
I love 💕 that ppl are still watching this years later. 2020 sucks and this song is good
@@tenoch1485 Folks just being polite, sweetie. We all knew what he/she meant (and agreed!).
When bass and drums is all you need to lay down a groove... you have got something
You are dead on right. Killer groove.
Great Drummer!!!!!!!!
he has eggs lol but ya.
Yes, I am in love with you guys!
this whole song 😍😍😍😍😍
Oh Yeah Alan, one of your best!
I love this song, too cool!!!
Love the bass tone
I don't normally listen to KROQ. Flipping around led to discovering this freakin' awesome song. Thank you!
I love all the live performance videos so much. Alan wilkis glitchy robot dancing and nervous expressions are so funny and perfect and lizzy ryan's voice is awesome, sometimes I even prefer it to the original (the bombs over brooklyn one OMG can we have that as a studio recording please...). And obviously there's gunnar olsen. Wish I could see them live
That base hits hard
Perfect..simple..beautiful
nice job guys, that was fuckin sweet
Alec Hall *sweat
bang on !perfect pocket ! start to finish !you guys are gettin played in philly ,i hope its like that everywhere else !!break a leg !!!
It’s insane to see how Gunnar takes this song to the next level.
Love this, sounds amazing
Very nice!
Just blasting this loud will get your mind right!!!
this song and performance are tight city usa
WE NEED MORE BIG DATA!
Who's the female vocalist? She's my favorite of the female vocalists in the live stuff I've watched thus far. Great voice and presence, if a bit shy. And the shy thing adds to the allure, so... yeah!
Sean McK Her name is Kimbra if you didn't know!
Matthew Vernel umm no. That's Lizy Ryan.
Cara, eu tô apaixonado por essas linhas de baixo!
The rhythm section should be arrested...cuz, they are KILLING it!!!
budmtss
Im only 6 years late but still valid ;) bloody good drumming.
@@carmenbarrionuevo2915 Thankyouverymuch I'll be here all night...try the tofu...it's...vegan.
Yeah it could have been good if they actually added much more to it and made it into a real song. As is it just repeats the same thing over and over and over.... It gets old quickly and not that good overall.
@@tdbass2968 omg just let people enjoy the music they like. If you didn't like it in the first place why didn't click off of it, instead of leaving a hate comment on someone else's opinion. Bro your opinion WAS NOT NEEDED
The bassline is fucking amazing
Great song! Kick ass performance!
New to the party but wow! Good stuff and class drumming!!
BIG DRUMS!!!
Love this, great job
Another good version, Lizy your eyes are so pretty don't hide them behind shades!
Den
Cheers! Gunnar! They're right, "tight". Den
I can't wait to see you next month! The first round of drinks are on me. I promise.
Now this is tight!
Loving this!
The filming the band through the screen of the guy filming the band with his phone was a pretty clever shot. It's probably pretty common, but this is the first time I've seen it.
Did you notice...that you couldn't even hear her until the applause? After that...she throws down. Classy looking woman...and a great voice as well.
This song is excellent! Awesome bass sound! The bass looks like it might be a Fender American Original 70s Jazz Bass, roundwound strings, played with a pick, through an orange Boss DS-1 Distortion pedal and the red color pedal looks like it's probably the MXR dyna comp, the white pedal is probably a Boss tuner (or it could be the Boss Delay pedal - those are white also), the other pedal shown in this video might be a bass chorus pedal. The bass amp in this video is an Ashdown, you can see the Ashdown Engineering Logo on the bass speaker cabinet in this video. The bass amp could be ABM500 EVO II Bass Amp Head. But in another live video of the song "Dangerous" (rooftop at the Historic Hollywood Tower) the bass player is shown using an Ampeg SVT-CL Classic Bass Head. Alan, if you're reading this comment section, can you tell us who played this bass part on your studio recording? And what equipment is used?
Here are some of my guesses as to the bass equipment used in this live video:

Sooo catchy!!
I love the records, would love to them live 😍
Sounds really good!
Too KOOL!
The musicians are the only ones that carry this. They needed Joywave to make this bigtime.
Much better than Joywaves's version, in my opinion......
Awesome.
It is really nice to listen to a band play live and have it sound better then the studio track. That shows that you have real Talented and Enjoy what you are doing, Nice!!! :)THx
Who is this chic? She is amazing.
Massively underrated song!
I think the older asian lady in the audience is the mother of the female vocalist lol. Such a nice supportive mom.
Yes Noticed that proud look
Proud mom
a great song for LOVERS!!
Gunnar killin it, carrying the whole song!
Sounds really Talking Headsy; that's as big of a compliment as I could think of off the top of my head for this sweet tune.
So, not everyone's a critic; it's around 50% by my count. Sounds great, looks like y'all are getting increasingly comfortable performing together. Looking forward to seeing the show in Columbus.
Awesome
awesome
Wow I love that song i listen to it everyday 😂
greatr song.
I didn't even know there was a female singer in the original, even though it said featuring Joywave.
Nine inch nails.
"Only."
I fucking love the Nine Inch Nails dude. Not a lot people do :)
Love Your Nails... NEWErect...?
Max Ritchey i do....
I am a ginormous reznor fan, and the dude knows what he is doing. He sets trends for songs like this to play off of
Whoa....I totally hear the similarity to Only. Shame, I liked this song.
🤘💯
So late to the party on this song....but for me, bass guitar sounds best on this than other live or the studio song
nice bass
Any bass pro able to tell me how to get this tone! PLEASE
Compressor to allow for that attack to come through nicely, synth bass pedal and when using the pick, angle it slightly so it scrapes as you play.
@@mrclynemusic186 thank you bass pro 🙏🏾
just getting in on this, i never listen to the radio, too much crap, but gems like this make me rethink my decision.
the female singer is a keeper. she's hot & has a great voice.
Like. Shared with friends.
Where can I download this version (Big Data performs "Dangerous" live at the KROQ Red Bull Soundspace).
I’d love to know the meaning behind the writing. I feel like there is some allegory here to be unpacked.
How do i find them now lol
El baterista se lució
Dat bassist tho.
The bird is a fxxkin fox....great tune..
