  • Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway is an exciting trackless attraction that recently opened at the Disneyland Resort this week! Though the ride is similar to the version of the ride in Walt Disney World, how much of the attraction was actually changed in Disneyland? The number of changes in the ride might surprise you!

    The flag effects in the Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway attraction at Disneyland are now working again, however, outside of that, everything else in the video should be the same 👍

    another small difference is that the train cars in disneyland switch their order differently than the ones in hollywood studios (for example: in the carnival scene the third car in hollywood studios becomes second while the third car in disneyland becomes last). disneyland does this so that each car gets a fair experience!

    The exit from daisy's dance studio is also different. WDW exits front left of the room while DL exits back right. That's probably part of the reason for the extra tunnel and scene mirroring at the picnic

    There's one other thing. The screen explosion in the Disneyland pre-show has an added screen effect that makes it more violent. They also use waaay more fog, making the overall effect way more convincing.

    Most of the changes seem to be timing adjustments to make sure the last 2 cars aren’t losing out on the story. I’m betting most of those will be ported back to WDW during their rides first major maintenance and upgrade. Some other differences such as DL’s covered bridge at the end stem more from the different shapes of the ride buildings. The DL Toon Town building is longer and narrower than Hollywood studios GMR theater building.

  • @rygregory

    Perspective-wise, I think Goofy waving towards the left makes more sense at that particular moment since he does have windows and visually, M&M are to the left of the train before it makes the turn. If Goofy had waved to the right, it would look like he was waving at a wall.
    Also, I think the “long barn” at the end is supposed to be a covered bridge.

      @infinitydash Před rokem +7

      Yeah to me the Disneyland version is a mixed bag. Some great improvements in pacing, but removing so many moving physical props, especially in the factory transformation, is kind of lame. The "2.5D" effect was one of the main selling points of the ride but now it's mostly just flat projections, more so than in Hollywood Studios.

    • @RetraCarteR
      @RetraCarteR Před rokem +3

      They probably did it in order to make the ride more reliable and decrease downtime. After all, the fewer moving parts there are in an attraction, the less likely it is to break down.

    Another thing to note is that Minnie's voice actor changed from the DHS and Disneyland versions. Russi Taylor was able to record all of her dialogue for the DHS version before her death in 2019. The added dialogue in the Disneyland version was recorded by Kaitlyn Robrock. I'm not sure if this meant that she rerecorded all of Minnie's lines or if a mixture of her and Russi were used.

      Russi Taylor is still at Disneyland

    • @RetraCarteR
      @RetraCarteR Před rokem +3

      Yeah, I've seen a lot of people point out that because Minnie has a few new/different lines in the Disneyland version, Disney must have changed Minnie's voice. Apparently, their simple reasoning is that because Disneyland's ride didn't start development until after she passed away, Russi couldn't have POSSIBLY recorded unique dialog for it.
      News flash, folks: voice actors record lines that end up going unused ALL THE DAMN TIME. When recording the voiceovers for the DHS version of the ride in 2018/2019, Disney intentionally made sure to get more content than they could possibly hope to use so that they could pick and choose what to include in the final product. When it came time to make Disneyland's version and they wanted to change up a few things, they used the archival audio from the original recording sessions wherever they needed new dialog or alternate takes.
      Russi Taylor definitely still voices Minnie in Disneyland's copy of the ride. All of the "new" voice lines are just old voice lines that we haven't heard before now.
