Confucius say...
Man who sideswipes highway barrier must have patience with new driver. ;)
I forgot about that one good point
Damn my boy Confucii said that?
LOL,,, yep,, saw that one. He kinda FAILED on that one. I don't care what he professes, he was distracted by more than a Podcast. LOL He's still a great guy, but I see through that. Dost thinks thou protest too much? LOL
We're taught to no run over the property, and that's probably why he wasn't backing up the way you wanted him to at first.
Its a big difference going from a big rig to a pick up truck. Not only that, but anyone who backs up trailers know that, that actually is a really hard driveway to back in. Wasn't too bad, at least he was improving each time and was probably nervous being that its his first time backing up infront of his possible new boss and being recorded at the same. time.
Caliche, reefer, and hotshot trailers all have different breaking angles but it’s rewarding to know you just have to learn them once an they stay with you forever !
Seriously, how annoying would it be to have your first day on the job training being recorded and put out to 80k+ subscribers.
@@whatdidyoutoldm3293 8ea99999r
give the man a chance i pull different trailers and some are easier to back up, and he has the boss waving his arms around like piglet does might make the man a little nervous hope this works out for you
I've found that every new driver can eventually get to a point where instruction becomes more of a distraction, than a help. When you reach that point, unless it's a case of imminent danger, better to be left on your own much as possible to think it through for yourself, and afterwords receive instruction in the form of a recap. This is particularly true when it comes to backing a trailer, but same approach can have it's benefits on the road as well.
Ain't no difference then these car haulers removing an axle and loosing 2 breaks
Alex, I love your vibe! What ever situation you get in, good or bad you're always happy and smiling, keep it up! 👍
Congratulations on the continued growth and success! Thanks for all your genuine help!
Alex, I love your progression. I am literally learning a lot from you. Kudos
Lol can't believe you hired this guy 🤣
Then recorded him and put it on CZcams thats awesome.
I asked for his permission
@@TowPiglet lol I know its just funny because he couldn't back the trailer into your driveway.
Seems qualified for flatbed to me lol. As the old joke goes flatbedders cant back up 😂
I should go easy on myself I'm a flatbedder.
@@TowPiglet can I git a phone number plz
Props to the driver for not arguing with you, that’s definitely a tough spot given the narrow driveway and then it looks like even next to your driveway where the tires cut across the lawn it dips down seeing as how the truck had to work to get the trailer over the ledge of your driveway, further making it harder to back into that spot. But props to him for not arguing with you and just letting you try to explain the best way to do it! If you want another driver I’d love to work with you! I know you’ve seen at least some of my videos which should show my knowledge and determination to keep going and how I’m able to fix a lot of things on the fly in the event of a breakdown. I’ve also never caused damage to any truck/trailer I’ve driven yet and I think that would really help benefit you if you get to where you’re looking for another driver! Great to see you expanding and creating jobs nonetheless! Keep up the hard work, it’s great to see it looks like you’ve been able to be home a little longer this time around and be with your family more
This is epic, awesome opportunity for that driver, I been looking into hotshot for a minute! Thanks for the uploads!
Man I really really want to get into something like this. Always loved when I could pull trailers at work. Learned at an early age how to back up and everything. Just have no idea how to get started in something like this. Good work man keep it up. Glad to see you’ve came so far!
Fantastic Buddy!!! I love how you mentally process and then just tell it how it is! When you were doing the math of how much having the second rig on the road is going to cost...you said “Broke!” ... but hopefully he’ll get swinging and run his side of things and hey... in a couple of months if he isn’t there... then that’s an opportunity to give another driver a ...”shot” at being a “hotshot!”... the more I watch your channel the more I wish my ass was in the seat!!! 👍😁. Keep on Truckin’!”...
Very patient with your new guy. It’s hard switching from something you’re very used to, to something new. Hence his struggle
Dude you are the man. I Love your go get it attitude you're gonna kill it keep America trucking.👍
I did learn something lol. Thanks for the backing up help. 👍😎🏁 I've spent alotta time trying to back into my own driveway, even widened the entry of it to help me.😂😂
He started backing up on wrong side of the road
No matter how much experience you have if you're telling me that every now and then you don't set up quiet right or don't have a brain fart or under overestimated or underestimate a spot I'm calling you a liar.
Every driver has had those days.
@@guruoo Its always the easiest docks that you need a couple of pull ups lol
Damn man, good to hear you're becoming so successful. Keep it going!
Congratulations Alex, keep on trucking bro.
Thank you Alexis. Folks this guy doesn't mind helping people for great information... thanks bro from the number 1 Outlaw
Stoked to see you hire a driver. Big moves 💪
Love your videos and thank you for inspiring.
Wish you the best with the new driver
Keep on rolling Alex.
When you drive a semi it's the same thing. The trailer will turn by itself and you just keep driving straight while you're backing up
I love the tire strapping, pretty slick. That trailer is light light
Your doing one hell of a great job
Oh good for you bro, on a growing spree.
If you need another CDL driver, let me know
Very nice congratulations, and good luck with your business
the last 30 seconds are golden!
The new driver was watching the tires and not the 10ft overhang on the trailer.⛟
all that Backing in especially coming in from driver-side should’ve been a piece of cake for an experienced driver
Haven't even watched video. Great move for your family's sake. Blessings upon your future.
Just want to thank you for your help my brother
I would have died of embarrassment.that was not a difficult backing. This owner/o.o has a great attitude!
Alex congratulations I have my fingers crossed I hope everything works out good luck my friend
I live in Houston and when I see you down the road I’m going to honk at you lol I’m studying to get my cdl so I can do what you are doing keep up the good work and by the way I’m learning a lot by watching your videos 👍👍
Great video, TP. I'm a CDL driver, and even I was able to pick up something new from it.
Alex you are super funny and I think the squirrel moments are the best parts! Keep up the great work
Update:: Hired next driver to finish the Houston to Kentucky load...This driver is parked at the curb of a truck stop after not being able to back into parking space...
Steve G 🤣🤣
Good luck with your new driver
Love your Vids ✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
Alex, you are the man.
I need to go back and watch your enterprise vs finance video. Though I imagine just the peace if mind knowing that you have a low mileage truck and the comfort of having the best safety technology at all times alone might be worth any extra cost.
30 years driving trucks. Always thought of that as floating it in. great advice for tight spots.
I have a helluva time backing gooseneck/5th wheels (long ones) because of how slowly they start turning. I can back a bumper pull near-perfectly every time.
Everything’s going Gucci over here 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love your videos !!
You doing a good job buddy, don’t give a fuck what people say on your Instagram. Keep on Trucking.
Your Fired !!!
This was truly inspiring! I really want to do hotshot trucking!
Just know what you’re getting into, it can be extremely stressful. But things are going good right now in the market so loads are paying good.
Same here , I started my business driving with a trailer in 2015, it’s 2021 now and I have 3 trucks , Ram 2015 2500 , Ford 2019 F250, Ford 2016 F150 , got my own apartment , 3 kids, my life has changed in a short amount of time 🙏🏼
This kind of happened to me going from Van 53ft to tanker 40ft. Then just two weeks ago switching from a manual Kenworth t800 to an auto. Freightliner at a different company. Nervous and at the end embarrassed I got it in that weird tight spot.
Good job explaining the backup
Dude you’re awesome...
I run into the same backing up issues into my driveway. It's a small Main Street with no lines on it. Just saying how small it is. And its a one wide car driveway. So yes I have to drive all over the grass to get it back in. I have a 37 foot deck over gooseneck. Tell the driver it has a completely different pivot point on the trailer than he is use to on a semi. That's what I had to start getting used to is where the pivot point is on the trailer where the axles are. If that makes sense. The tail trailer swing.
Well said. Like sometimes it tougher to back up 20ft trailer compared to 53ft trailer.
This is most definitely the move for me. Find a driver and haul ass, it’s all in the motion of the hands.
This guy is awesome 😎
Lol Alex Keep up the great work
Good video man 👍
Sometimes.... the “Don’t Ask,,, Don’t Tell”... statement, is very good value to use... !!!!!
Tow Piglet in effect....the GRAND MASTER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
👍 I wouldn’t want to back anything in that driveway. Alex have you considered adding some gravel and width to that gate and driveway?
I know quite a few commercial drivers who cant easily back up a trailer. Usually they're oil patch and never have to. I've had my commercial license just about a year and have only had to back up a few times but can when needed
If I had as much energy that He as I would hurt myself. Lol. Alex has so much energy that he gets every one Excited .
Yeah the positive energy is contagious
I could definitely see why the driver had a hard time getting into the driveway. The roadway was so narrow that if he started to cut too early, the front wheels will be into the grass on the right side. He should have pulled really long into the left and started gradually cutting, then lock it up once the trailer showed some guidance into the driveway. I’m not a CDL holder but I pulled a few Uhaul trailers in the past 😂😂😂
Alec 10Q for the video. One day I will like to meet you brother. Keep the good work 👍
Tell you a secret to back into places like your drive way. Keep off the grass and push the trailer and and Jack straight back. Pull forward and to driver side so trailer is over the grass than cut truck around for follow up. When I say jack it. Your just pushing the truck straight back since you can't follow up. This pushes the trailer back some and past straight with the driveway. So when you pull up to the left the trailer lines up for your follow up
Broke in debt but not dumb.... I love this guy
I stopped after he was trying to back into your driveway shit made my head hurt. Going to be a hell of show watching him park at truck stops at night.
You need to a do a video on what tools you carry when hit shotting.
CDL for years and can’t back up in one shot ..... did he drive for swift?
a ONE shot is where you haul one load & quit.
Just because you don't back up in one shot doesn't mean you haven't been driving for years
Right! Could grab a 10 year old farm kid and they'd hit it first shot. lol
Every truck and trailer has a different feel man. I have a 32ft enclosed trailer that backs with ease and a dam log splitter thats less than 10ft and it kicked my ass the first couple times. He will get the feel and be a master after the first couple loads.
Louis Daniels Iv been driving semi truck for years and I understand that , it’s all about wheel base and location of axles on trailers but still looked like a easy back maneuver and shouldn’t have taken him 10 tries , shorter the trailer the harder it is to back
Nice!!
Next Episode: Alex hosts the Hot Shot Driver Rodeo.
Best wishes with your challenges of being the boss.
Leader*
You definitely know how to backup your trailer 😬👍🏻
He just needs a little more time to get use to how things snaps around. Plus his set up might have been off just a little. It takes time to get use to the smaller trailers and pick up trucks. Instead of the bigger monsters he used too. You did explain it correctly to him. The backing move you are explaining is called a 90 degree see side back.
Can you make a video of what you drink and eat or munch on while driving. Things you do a way to help you stay awake or alert while driving
Wow looks like you got a good one
When he failed to back it in, he failed. Of course, the number one rule in backing a rig is : If you don't have to, don't.
Also, if inspected at the the scales, your trailer would be put out of service. You can run unloaded/empty missing brakes, but not loaded.
I told my trainees and any new driver the exact opposite.. I was taught the exact opposite. You back up when ever possible. Practice practice practice. That way when you have no other option but to back. You are nowhere near as nervous. plus you get better.
@@jessedonovan9009 Well said. Thank you. Training is the weakest link to success in the trucking biz, IMO. Companies put too much pressure on trainers to put miles ahead of training, and training suffers for it. For example, newbe slow on backing, trainer takes over to speed thing up, costing trainee the experience. Newbe slow with fleet management, and logs, so trainer takes over to rush back to the road.
Trainers should be allowed to place training #1 above all else.
And the big dogs will still scratch their heads and moan when they see half new drivers they claim they so desperately need leave the industry before end of their first year.
Also don't start in the middle. Come in on your property line than swing it to other side to place trailer wheel by your yard and already have a nice angle
That driver probably drove for swift... for one also he started backing up on the opposite side of the road as Alex’s driveway.
Very interested in your videos and progress
Can't wait till they open up the country
You want fun backing up. A public boat ramp. I was with a group SCUBA diving in TX. Dive shop owner couldn’t get boat in water. I asked to drive. I backed 6 boats in water before I had to hop in boat because they were ready. People didn’t even try. “I’ll give you $5 if you back my boat in”. 1984 so decent for 5 minutes . (Back in, they release boat, pull it over to dock as I pull trailer over to parking area, lock, bring them keys)
Driver didn’t want to run over your grass. Has to learn pivot point. Learn not to back sharp loaded. (If at all possible)
I think the driver did pretty good considering hes used to backing long trailers with the trailer wheels a lot further back than the hot shot trailer? Ive always said its easier to back a 53' trailer than it is a small trailer. In this instance, not near as much hangover on a 53'. Little or No hangover on a 48'. He'll get the hang of it. He just has to get use to the hangover.
you have lost capacity on those straps by rigging it that way that's why you need the ring in the middle
Axels are farther up on 40 foot hot shot than Bigtruck trailer axels makes a different on when you pivot.
Tow piglet. Put me in the old Ram I have a life like literally a whole life of truck and trailer experience. And I’m extremely dependable
5 years good job ;)
your Fired ! 🤣
It can be misguiding when your trailer axles are more centered on the trailer. If you back up using the the back end of the trailer, you’ll be off almost everytime, gotta look at your rear axle for guidence. Specifically for that kind of trailer
I'll take the job. That driveway is so easy.
I used legal zoom. Kept me on schedual fore all my paper work , kept me legal year round
Alex is like “say sike right now.”
I’m just here to read comments
& watch the video?
Put in coach! I can reverse that goose for ya! Lol!
a semi kind of guy is used to have the trailer axles on the far back. Your trailer has the axles basically in the center. make a big difference, he will get it, let him drive hehehe
I really really really wish you would have shown the correct back in procedure from outside. I think it would be very helpful for a lot of new guys. I personally back into a driveway EXACTLY like yours on a busy street so the learning curve had to be stupid fast while learning and holding up traffic on both sides of the street
First time viewer and I have no idea what I just watched...
From experience, semi is easier to back in than a hotshot pickup, mainly because the turning radius.
Great 5 year speech !!! Bootstraps !!! some people think that EVERYBODY isn't capable to pull themselves up by the bootstraps. MANY more people ARE capable, if they HAVE TO. The government, it's media and schools, like to teach people that they are oppressed victims. With a little encouragement and "WANT TO" many many more people could be successful. Many, doing things that most never thought of.
easy backing lol yeah got to hit grass a little. I could make that with my 30 bumper pull lol
