    The Toyota that basically exists only in CZcams reviews. You have better odds of finding a Bigfoot, a unicorn, or a Dodo bird on a Toyota lot than a Prius.

      Well, you are not far off. This redesigned model is very rare "on the street". It's been at least two years since the new model was introduced and to date, I've only seen three of them on the road. We ordered our Prime back in 2022 and, 21 months later it landed. Long wait for sure, but, on the bright side, we ended-up with the 2024 model. And that one as you know, has several advantages over the older car. We also lost over $2,000 in trade allowance as the 2012 Model C was close to two years older than when we ordered the new one (still got half of what we paid for it 12 ears ago though !). Plus, we had to absorb two model year price increases.
      Still, we expect the 24 Prime to save us at least $ 1,600+ per year in gas. There's almost 1,100 miles on the thing and nearly half of the Dealer Fill-up tank is unused. We'll hit 2,000Km on the first tank (and, summer isn't here yet). This car is as good as a full EV but at less than 2/3 the price.

      Yeah, the only time I see them are the ones bought by security companies. Toyota seem to have sold to them in bulk.

      I see them driving around in DFW often but you are correct about them not being on lots. Can’t find even a base model let alone the fully loaded limited I would buy. I wanted to test drive one but there are none. Even on Turo there aren’t any in the DFW metroplex.

      UPDATE: We have now driven 5,000Km from new. On, less than 1.5 tanks of fuel. This car is THE answer.

      Are those fog lights on the front bumper or just accent lights?

    Unfortunately the new Toyota Prius way massively overpriced; Every dealer seems to add another $2000-3000 on the MSRP for this car. It's insane.

    • @User.Joshua

      They’re priced at MSRP in the north east. I also got $4,500 off with a lease incentive.

      In Canada I just bought one at MSRP

      You have to call and look around. There are many show rooms on the East Coast selling at MSRP.

      In Canada it is illegal for a dealer to sell new vehicles above MSRP. I bought a top trim, Supersonic Red, but I had to wait 18 months. Love that car!

    Good review.
    Toyota's new 5th generation Prius has undergone a major change in appearance, and I think it has become even cooler. It looks like a coupe style sedan.
    Because the front pillars are large, the top of the instrument panel is deeper than the previous model, making it difficult to see the bonnet and the tip of the body. The rear seats feel a little cramped because the seating position is low.
    Power performance has been significantly improved compared to the previous model. The hybrid system is now in its fifth generation and has improved driving force in the practical rotation range. Improved power performance makes driving easier and fuel efficiency is better.

    I guess I was lucky to find a 2024 Prius Limited at my local dealer. I was looking at the GR 86 and wind up with a Prius.

    Compare it to a 2025 Camry. They are great hybrid powered cars as well.

    As per your opinion should I get with this 2024 Prius or 2025 Honda Civic hybrid?

      This or the civic hybrid hatchback… exact same question I had. The civic is bigger but gets about 6-7 mpg less

    Nice review Mike. Too bad this car lacks a spare tire… a deal breaker for me… waiting for the 2025 Camry….

    I find it curious you don't mention that the steering wheel can hide the dash due to the display size and placement, nor the fact that rear window vision is nearly impossible due to the sloping. Other reviewers have also found the shifter difficult to work due to its cheap materials and mechanism. Good review otherwise

      The steering wheel is tilt/telescoping, allowing for easy repositioning, while the seat height is also adjustable. Individuals who struggle with these basic adjustments and have difficulty viewing the instrument/gauge cluster may want to reconsider their readiness to drive. Regarding rearview visibility, the digital rearview mirror serves its purpose effectively, rendering traditional mirrors somewhat redundant. As for concerns about the shifter being "difficult to work," it's a matter of adapting to modern technology. Unlike older models, you don't need excessive force to shift gears; simply tilt it to the desired mode and release.

    • @alginyes
      @alginyes Před 4 měsíci +3

      You can lower the steering wheel!

    • @TheYoungMontana
      @TheYoungMontana Před 2 měsíci

      I have a 24 Prius and neither has bothered me. You can adjust your seat/steering wheel once to see the dash easily. As for the rear window, I removed the head rests and visibility greatly improved.
