Ikr. "didn't show enough emotion" when you I clearly feel the emotion! They just don't want the ROOKIES outshine the seniors. When they have the rights coz they did a good job.

the thing is they were rookie at this moment and both baekhyun and chen were just trained for few months. how talented they are, literally. but they still practice much more than others to achieve many things and they deserve all.
another thing was they were lost. idk exactly the reason but people said that back to those years, idol wasnât appreciated by other artists. they think idol is only able to dance and rap.

They lost because the judges said they lacked emotion also the other performer had been in the industry longer they couldn't have rookies out shine its said really

What happens actually was that: They was rookies and really youngers. They said to the judges they didn't know what real love means, at that time, because they was young, and the performance should show the feelings and emotions about the lyrics of the song. For me, this happend, it's clearly that was really emotional but the judges didn't agree. I think they watched this with a unfair thought because Chen and Baek said that, and because they said they asked to their mothers and aunts what is the feeling when they heard that song. So what they showed was they didn't know that feelings. But, for sure have more behind that, like, they was competing with a senior who was really famous, so I guess a "rookie" cannot win of a senior like that.... I think was unfair not the fact that they lost but what the judges said to them.
Yes, they lost at that program due to "seniority". Their rival was the guy in sunglasses and he was an older and "real singer", not just an pretty rookie idol. Totally unfair to everyone who has seen this performance đ

And to think that they were just a rookie at at that time with both have only 4 months of training before they debut, these only proves that these two are just naturally talented and powerful. Well, all EXO members are.
This is crazy because Baekhyun and Chen were trained for only 4 months. They auditioned the same day and joined SM together.

Can you believe that this performance was from more than 6 years ago? So this was when EXO were first starting out, which just goes to show you what amazing vocalists Chen and Baekhyun have always been. Immortal Songs 2 is a weekly singing competition show where Idols and famous singers go on the show and compete against each other to be voted the best performance of the show by the audience. Each week there is a theme and most of the time the theme has something to do with a famous older well known singer, group, composer or artist or a specific genre or era of music, and all the songs are remixed covers of songs from the artist that is featured as the theme of that week's show. For instance, they have even done English weeks where the theme of the week is Michael Jackson songs or Michael Bolton songs and all the singers who competed on that episode sang Michael Jackson songs or Michael Bolton songs. (Michael Bolton was even on the show to critique the performances.)
So the point of the show is to take a famous old song and to remake it into something new and amazing or to blow the audience away with your vocal talent.Each singer or duo or group goes on the show and competes against all the other guests on the show and the audience votes for whomever they thing had the better performance. And every performance is 1% live so they always have a live band or orchestra. Each performance is given a numerical score depending on how many times the audience pushed the "thumbs up" button. The person with the highest score becomes the winner of the show that week and takes home a trophy.
Immortal Songs 2 is a show a lot of Idols go on when they are first starting out to help gain popularity and recognition for themselves and their group. What makes this show unique is it's a show with singers and artists across the spectrum of ages and musical genres -- artists such as Chen and Baekhyun who are famous Idol singers in their 20s could be competing against a famous rock 'n' roll singer or band who could have been in the industry for 20 years, etc. And not only are the artists who compete diverse, but so too is the audience -- Immortal Songs 2 is very popular across all age demographics from teenagers who love Idol Kpop music to grandparents that listen to traditional Korean music. It spans all generations -- teens like the show because they get to see their favorite Idols and grandparents like the show because most of the time the guests cover older classic songs that they love and grew up on, etc. The show is all about impressing the audience with your performance and it's a really big honor to win.
However, can you believe, that even as impressive as Chen and Baekhyun's performance was, they didn't win that episode? I'm pretty sure they won their round which means they beat the person they were going directly up against, and they might have beat the next one or two people to compete that week, but over all they didn't outscore everyone on that show that day. I can't remember who ended up winning -- it's been so long since I have seen the whole episode -- but they must have had a really fun and/or impressive performance to top what Chen and Baekhyun did. đ
The guy with the sunglasses is another one of the contestants/singers on the show and he is backstage waiting for the results. I think he was the one that Chen and Baekhyun went up against to win their first round.
The lady with the fluffy hair that you saw grooving to the song was the featured artist, composer, songwriter, etc. ( I can't remember exactly who she was) that was the theme of that week's show and she gave feedback after each of the performances.
If I remember right, this song is a really famous old Korean song which was originally sung by a woman and she is singing to and about her love that she has been separated from.It'ss about how during the Korean War North and South Korea were separated and when that happened couples and families were separated. Some North Koreans escaped and went to South Korea while others stayed behind. North Korea is a dictatorship and because of the ongoing war between the two sides people who are living in North Korea have no contact with South Korea. In 2018 North and South Korea had a meeting day (not sure if that is what it is called ) and North Koreans were able to meet and talk to their South Korean family members for 5 minutes at the border between the two countries. I read a story about a man that was brought over to South Korea as a baby during the war by his parents. While they were escaping they got separated and the mom was left in North Korea and the son and father made it to and lived the rest of their lives in South Korea.They hadn't seen or spoken to the mom since the day they were separated. During the meet up day the son, who is now 75 years old, got 5 minutes to meet his mother, who is in her 90s, for the first time since he was a young boy. So this song is a very sad and beautiful song that showcases the vocal powerhouses that are Chen and Baekhyun's voices.
And that is why Chen is the #1 lyrical tenor with the most advanced singing technique in the KPop music Industry and possibly beyond. And Baekhun is EXO's 2nd best vocalist.
Baekhyun for is the real no.1 best vocalist because of his manly voice..He has that angelic voice #Baekhyun is the real kpop king of vocal

This ws d 1st ever live prformance I evr watched frm them in 2014 ..how can I not b fan?haha..as a singer, I'm totaoly mesmerized w/ d vocals + d arrangemnt & d band..perfectt! Evn tho, u can see they were nervous, it ddn't affect d quality of d prformance..they were still rookies back then (2013)..luv this duo so much..their cover is d best.. Hope u watch exo as a grp in d same show (immortal songs 2)..they prformed "It's still a dark night" & "With you"..still r covers frm artists specified for each week..so great! U'll luv it! Also, pls reaxt to exo hidden vocals (vocal compilation of 6 othr membr xcpt 3 main voxals - chen, d.o, baekhyun - showcasing they too have great vocals) a sneak peak of some prformances to look forward..u'll enjoy it for sure! I recommend these coz most dnt ..these aren't that popular videos but r best for sure..coz sometyms we dnt see d great things n d mist known things, ryt?ihaha..thank u so much!

Ok first tine listening to exo's like this. I think now i have to look for their music in detail. I think this is the best kpop piece i have ever listened. Their feel and emotions are reaching straight to my heart. Reading the comments below surprised me that these guys couldnt win. Like man i have rarely heard korean boy bands with such vocals and emotions. Atleaat not in the kpop. May be rock bands or solo singers.

The programme is called Immortal Songs. They invite popular singers/producers/etc as guests and have the newer singers perform their old, very loved songs. Audience will vote.
There was a Michael Bolton episode which had some of the best covers from singers.
Personally, I love Boohwal's episodes as the covers were awesome and it's one of the bands where I know almost all of the songs the singers covered that night.

And you have to know that they were rookie at that time ...and you also have to know they were training for 3 to 6 monthes only cuz they were the last members consider in exo .....so in that case we can could them legedens cuz it's not easy to achive an high level of hermony and also the. Vioc 's strongth ...... So that's simply could called talent ....so thats why there is a defrentce btween a talented guy with a some monthes of tarining in the other side a talented guy but not in higher level to another one with many years of training.......in the end every person has talent that mean not is ready to be called a professional but here is persons like baek and chen gifted with high level of talnte so they sounds like professional in the first year of they debut .........and that happend in 2013 like a almost year of exo's debut in the end of 2012
