Wow, these were really close! 1dB will not be noticeable by most people, usually takes closer to 3dB to be able to "hear" the difference. Either way, fun and educational video. Great job!
Yessir! Thank you Big D!
@@ParkerTheBassheadpause
😂😂😂😂
A 3db gain doubles the spl. 133 is twice as loud as 130db. But for a human ear to perceive a doubling of volume it requires a 9db gain, super odd!😊
look at the watt difference 450 watt
Love this video. Nobody does content like this. What people actually want too see. Keep up the good work Parker 🎉
Here in South Africa we actually have Toyota minibus taxis with six 15 inch subs on a daily😵💫
Run all 3 and see if you actually get more or not. Everyone says don't mix sub sizes.
I agree
You can mix but you should run off different amps because the tuning will b different between sizes
My friends and I have been mixing sub sizes for years running all on the same amp and in some cases in the same box and never heard any complaints
If he runs all three it will be like running 1 15 and 1 18 he will definitely get gains
Running different size subs in the same box is the main concern possibly blowing out the weaker subs. Now if in separate boxes with different tuning you will cover a broader/larger frequency range which can help in a SQ setup.
Which sounded better, that’s the real question dude. Awesome video man keep bringing the content 👍
Thanks for doing a 15 comparison with two 12s. That's one of the things I've been thinking about.
LOVE THE SCIENTIFIC TYPE VIDEOS!!!! Went with 1 good 15" this time but I definitely plan on doing some more experimenting for the summer
A lot of people with this exact idea in their mind could benefit from being subbed to your channel. I remember seeing this kind of question with 2x10 vs 1x12, and 2x12 vs 1x15, whether on the old forums or on FB groups. I enjoyed this video. I think for some it could boil down to their trunk and whether they want to sacrifice the length of their trunk and have a slimmer depth with a pair or have a square shaped single sub and still have half the trunk, or the height of a single 15 wouldn’t clear the trunk
Love the content...so many people have these questions daily and it's so hard to find answers. A lot of times it's expensive to experiment. It's so much easier to look up a video with real-world results. Keep up the great work and bass on basshead
Awesome test Parker!!
This video should help a lot of people out on decisions!
Wow, Great comparison test. The 15" gives close to the same output if not more for less power consumption.
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS !!! love these type of videos AWESOME CONTENT PARKER AS ALWAYS !!!!
I appreciate it man!
When I had my sub setup was running a single DC Audio Neo Elite 15" on a Dc Audio 5k soundlab in a ported box.
It was awesome, had to upgrade the alternator, ran an extra yellowtop in the trunk, ran 8 guage from sub to amp & 2 guage throughout the vehicle. Could only bump hard for 10 mins before needing a cooldown 😢
Thanks for clearing that up
Crazy how close the results are.another good video bud
I have two 15” DDS SKAR subs couldn’t fit in my Caddy. Had to buy one single 12 tube by SKAR. Sounds loud and good but not the same. The 15’s not only sounded better, you actually feel the shaking of the subs and the car vibrates as well. The 12” woofer sounds good but no feeling behind it. 😢
Great video thanks for all you do for the bass community.
Love how you testing out stuff like this😃🙏
Exciting stuff, definitely would like to see evl 12's v evl 15. Fantastic video, pretty scientific stuff buddy 👌. Can't wait to see the one 18 v 2 , 15's maybe deaf bonce. Excellent experiment.
I’m currently running two of the Deaf Bonce SA-302’s love them so far. They slam and the sound quality is great
I'm fixing to build a new system and this really helps me make a decision!
I like the idea of running them all at the same time and seeing the results
A video we've all been waiting for 🤪🤪🤪🤪 Love from South Africa
this video was perfect thank you
Great channel. Would like to see more db testing, car loaded with luggage will this lower db reading. Also curious which direction I should take. Currently running 2 12in power t2d2 subs on fosgate 2500 amp. I only metered 140s. Would I gain more with more power on these subs or upgrade subs, I have considered doubling the power and using one amp per sub however manufacturer did not reccomend.
Great comparison Parker. Quite a few people have asked me this question over the years. One major advantage to a single sub is needing less power, equating to no need to upgrade charging system, which is a big expense.
Two subs would be much more efficient. Meaning they would be louder with less power.
im pretty sure i saw 5000w you def need to upgrade your charging system to handle that
It all comes down to driver sensitivity response. It seems everyone (these days) equates a huge motor and stiff suspension to a BETTER driver.. and really if you want to get loud w/o upgrading you charging system, you need 1) and efficient amp that has a low distortion factor, 2) a SENSITIVE sub that matches the output parameters of that amp, 3) a complimentary enclosure that works with that sub to reproduce the type of result you are going for.
What a lot off people fail to recognize, is you can have LOUD bass response in a relatively low bandwidth range, OR musicality in a wider range of response, but you are going to lose that little range of boost where you would be tuning that boost.
Soo many times i built an awesome setup, only to find that some songs just made ya tear up with how great it sounded, but play a different track and it sounds like a kid whacking a bucket with a stick
Pretty cool bud. Keep Bassin on.
Super test , continue comme ça 👍
I would like to see 2 8s vs 1 12. Thanks Parker.
Nice. I learned something. Thanks brothah.
I love that dual 12inch box planning on a new build think ill build something similar
I needed this thank you🎉🎉
Yes please get some 18's on the channel, doesn't matter what you compare them to just wanna see your overall thoughts on the 18in woofer if it is worth spending extra money and sacrificing extra space for a bigger box or should you just buy 2-12/2-15 instead 🤷♂️
Great video dude. Ds18 ZXl 15. 30mm xmaxx been really studying this sub for some time. Price drop to 299 made them more appealing. Love to see you test them out.
Excellent video. Really good idea.
Cool video, man. I would like to see a comparison of 4 8's skar evl's vs. 2 12 evl's
Grab the triple 8 skar preload box and do the same test. Curious how that stacks up, I have heard the triple 8 box from skar can get into the 140s.
Great video Parker!!!
I was searching the Internet looking for a good comparison between a single 15" EVL and a dual 12" SVR loaded enclosure deal. Single 15" or a dual 12" are the biggest that I can fit in my trunk. If the (2) SDR are hitting as good as the 15, that means the SVR will be even better. Thanks for the info.
Damn I have been brainstorming about this for my Colorado...
I wish you would have tested the difference between 25hz and 30hz. I wonder if the 15 would substantially pull ahead the lower you go in hertz. One or two decibels in basically a tie on the daily. Thanks for the vids.
Yea u right hopefully he see this
3 10"s vs 2 12"s vs 1 15", all the same EVL or same line from whatever brand(deaf bounce, sundown, incriminator, SKAR). Which setup gets the best bang/boom for your buck. Of course all 3 setups matched to cubic feet & RMS watts in the same vehicle. So for instance would 2 skar evl 10's hit harder than 2 12" evl's or 1 15"??? Or maybe swap the 15" for a 18" but not everybody can run a 18 so the 15 may still be a better choice.
I'm trying to decide which way to go now myself. Im currently running a single Memphis mojo pro 12" in a skar 2.0cft box on a skar rp.1200 @4ohms(500watts). Im trying to figure my next move & running the 2 12's side by side wont work in my Acura TSX. So do i run 1 deaf bounce 3512 in a 2.65cft box, add another skar single box with another Memphis Mojo Pro or up size to a 15" skar evl in a 3.15cft box???? Im very happy with the single mojo pro but of course i want more bass😂😂😂
I'll stsy with my Mojo 15's. Thanks for the upload
curious to see if sealed would make the difference larger or not
This also shows you that the 15" took less power and gave out more spl than the two 12s also i like the fact that you kept them in the same brand
This stands true to what I have always read and thought myself.
Great Video keep up the good work
Love a 15, i used to have a 15" Fosgate t1 on 1k powerbass monoblock in the trunk of a kia optima. Man that thing slapped.
so you have nothing now?
@@marthepedersen1454 yeah I have nothing now. I'm 50 years old and lost interest. I've helped my youngest son recently build a system with a skar sub, and Def bonce doors. It's louder than mine was.
Great content nice power ratings
I like that you did it within a dollar value, but yes, you should also do it comparing different sizes in the same line/level.
A full EVL test is needed!
I would love to see you test some of the DS18 EXL-XX12.4DHE. They look like some pretty good subs by looking at the specs. They have a lot of Xmax compared to most subs out. I know that the HOOLIGAN subs have more, but they are more money, and they are sold out. I just purchased 2 of the EXL-XXX12.4 from Big Jeff. It will be a little bit before I get them hooked up though.
When I first went from my 2~12 inch U series sundown’s to 1 15 inch Xv2 there was a huge difference and I just change the baffle on the box so it’s the same box
Also out of these 2 setups in the video, what sounded the best to you parker?
I run 1 15 in an angled box since I have a sedan and trunk space is needed for groceries and it’s perfect, bass is smooth even when hooked up with a 1500w amp
I want to get 1 15 sub what is a good one to get and I have a Honda civic
Would love to see one beefy 15" vs 2 weaker 15", would they be the sameish or would cone area beat raw power.
I think cone area for the win unless the 1 15 is on another level. Like way on another level lol
I did all these things when I was young not knowing what the heck I was doing and always got good results my systems sounded better than guys who get big bucks at car shops😊😊😊😊❤
I know they say not to mix sub sizes! but I like a hard punch of two 12’z, but I also like the deep bass of two 15’z too. So I like the best of both worlds at the same time! I’ve ran both at the same time before and sounded really good as long as u tweek it lol
I have a 2 12 and 15 setup now, and I love it
@@toneyellison2102 same amp or seperate?
When you say clipping is that the amp clipping or the subs bottoming out on excursion? If it's the amp clipping was the nominal impedence of both subs the same? Based on the impedence reading from the SMD it looked like the 12s were wired to 1 Ohm whereas the 15 looked to be 2 Ohm. That would explain the difference in power achieved.
I would love to see how much power 2-evl 12’s can handle !🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
In terms of efficiency, the 2 x 12 s would be more efficient right ? In terms of heat etc
Thanks 🙏 for the video. We learn so much from ya. My 8 year old BrodyMan listen to what ya say.
I'd like to see a video that shows the difference between sizes and the type of music you like (aka BPM). I like fast electronica and have always been told to stick to a smaller size so they can respond to the faster BPM. But I ran 2x 12s for years and thought they sounded fine. Thoughts?
Hey Parker have you ever thought about doing the gravity subwoofers? The G series. I would love to see you test a gravity g7 15" they look like the Trinity M18S but with direct leads.
@parkerthebasshead384 this is real?
I drive a pick up, quad cab. Makes subwoofers tricky.
Went from an orian hcca 15 down to a skar evl 12 to save space but I miss the volume of the hcca.
Was thinking about selling the evl and getting two stronger skars (forgot name) in a 10”
So slightly bigger then solo 12 but with 20” of boomboom
Do 10s hit lows? Going to do a standard ported box
I had a sundown sa8 v2 on a Memphis 1100D in a box tuned to 27 hz and let me tell you for an 8in the lows were pretty ridiculous
Two evl 12s will definitely out perform 1 evl 15 lol. Make it fair an make it a zvx 15 :p
Still really want to see you review the hooligan18 15"...
Great video as always! Much love from Seattle!
Great video
Nice bro!
I know this is mostly about SPL, but what about SQ? I realize that is subjective, but if both setups "perform" similarly, and one sounds noticeably better... buying the better SQ setup is a no-brainer... all else being equal.
edit: typo
youve come a long way my audio hatchling
Are you running any bigger alternator or just the batteries
I am looking at amps for a new setup in my truck. I see that you use Taramps consistently. I have to ask, are you sponsored, or are you a genuine supporter of their products? I read mixed reviews, but I don’t have any personal experience with them. Thanks!
I'd love to see the same test in sealed enclosures.
I learned this the hard way. For decades I would only run 2 subs. Later in life I needed the space more than I needed the sound. I found out the loudness seemed about the same. I went from 2 10's to a single 12. Now I have a single evl 15.
I would advise against the SDR's as they are junk in my opinion. The evls are clearly better than the Kicker solo's from my expereince. I would choose the Comps over the SDRs as well.
What do you think about the SVRS
2 Evl 12s vs 1 Evl 15 on the same power and then max power would be very interesting. Do it!
What would be louder, 1 really nice 15 or my current 2 kicker l7s on 1500w rms?
What single Sunday will be louder then 2 skar evls 12
yes please i got 2 skar evl 12s and want to know if i should get a 15 instead
Do sealed 1 15 vs 2 12 both in speced sealed boxes. Can also analyze the sound quality or what bass each setup hits better. Thanks great video.
I'm not for sure, but I think he's one of those bass heads that don't do sealed😂
2 basic 12's are equal to 1 good ass 15"? That's what I'm getting from this.
I have 2 sdr 12 on 1200 watts and my buddy at work has 1 sdr 15 on 800 watts. He wants to upgrade to an Evl 15 but I know he will get better results by getting a bigger box. This proves it.
What if you did the same test but with all the same size woofer? 2 cheap 12s vs 1 more expensive 12, even if it's from a different brand
hey parker can u try out a slapz amp and do a video so can see there worth the money they have 3k 5k and 8k i bought the 5k but like to see what you think also love the vidoes keep up the good work i have learned alot watching you my set up rn is 2 12" sundown xv3 in a custom tuned box at 34hz it does 141db rn on 2400watts at 34hz - 40hz and that was on 150amp alt i have 320amp alt now trying to get that 150db
I would love to see a video of 2 Skar EVL 6.5 vs 1 EVL 8, 2 EVL 8 vs 1 EVL 10, etc. and would be willing to donate some 💵 towards the tests
Can you do a review on the skar audio 3 8in ported enclosure?
That's very interesting! In theory thise 2x12 should have been louder, but they weren't. Very interesting!
Love all your videos.
I'm trying to put something together in my 1971 Beetle and keep running into not having a good enough battery.
XS Power or Optima?
(I'm using all kicker products and amp-wise 800 watts to my subs and 300 watts to my mids and tweeters.
Help.
Run a dual battery set up under the rear seat .
Also was both boxes tuned to the same frequency?
I'm debating 9n going with 4 ab xfls 15s or 2 sundown xv3 18s
I wanted to see all 3 !
These are cool videos. I’m currently going with 1 15 over the 2 12
Going to 2 12s from 1 15 myself looking for a little more sq than spl
@@thomasnygard2334 2 12s are more musical. sound good on all music
and gets louder
I'm curious to see what db you would have got at 50hz and 55hz aswell and 25hz and 30hz
Sub in the background chilling and a monster
Should have done one 18" vs two 12"s since the total cone area is closer to the same.
I’m in the fence on running two 10” Skar evl’s or the triple 8 evl’s in my Camaro 5th gen
I’m interested in seeing the 2 EVL 12 test
They have a triple EVL 12 option too
I was scoping that 15 not too long ago, i bet it bangs!
Hello what is the littrage you advise for a 12" 2500 rms sub ?
Can you please do the same video except with one Skar zvx18 vs 2 Skar vxf 12s???
An EVL to EVL full comparison would be better. Thx
