My biggest take away is: Don't get concerned in whether the symptoms are going away, instead, See this not as an anxiety recovery journey, but as a inner peace/ inner healing journey. Loved that!

My ah ha moment was when you said that when the external fears are gone, my mind will look for something to fear within. That’s exactly what has happened ! That really helped put things into perspective for me. And not thinking of this journey as anxiety recovery will truly help. Putting the spin on the positive is what I used to do, but I had forgotten that. Thanks for this video. It was just what I needed this morning! It’s going to be a great day😊

Inner healing journey, not anxiety, because in the end anxiety comes from the inner… in fact, I’ve noticed that even without symptoms and anxiety, my brain still goes way too fast, wants to control everything, and keeps me in a frantic state of thousand thoughts and lists to make and do, tunnel vision etc.
best moment is when I give up the fight, drop everything during a meditation, and for a short amount of time I can feel that inner child’s love and peace as it was before being hurt.

For me this fear of “getting sick” I can’t even say what it really is, is ruining my life. Like right now I can’t even try to do something other than focus on the symptom and the panic. I want to be free of this I feel so hopeless like no one and nothing can help. I fear that if I do anything to calm down I’ll get sick. How can I conquer this fear? SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE I AM LOOSING HOPE 😢😢

  •  Před 4 měsíci +5

I can 100% relate. What I observed many times is that the part wishing for any symptom to be gone is in contradiction to that other part. As soon as symptoms are completely gone, it jumps in and creates fear of - how did I do this, how is this possible - and everything is back again. It's like a comfort pain blanket and love/hate relationship.

Exactly! We lose touch with our baseline. So when the stuff goes away, we’re immediately looking for something new to worry about / to make up in our mind. Even with me, I’ll create bodily OCDs to make me more comfortable with being anxious again… because it’s become
Normal to us in an odd way.. I think like you said, that’s where we gotta break it down and make a change.

This video is very helpful. The point about 'expecting the symptom' is spot on. Also the doubt that its not related to Anxiety / Fear and an illness, so true. Just a single thought and bam, the worry starts, the symptoms come. So many times, this surely can't be anxiety.

Not getting concerned if it has gone away is a big one for me. I have been practicing this for awhile regularly and have seen the difference. My body feeling tired is one I have a hard time accepting. Dennis, i hope you have a insight of this. I went on a holiday with my new boyfriend for two weeks expacting anxiety to come with me and i was like: well, yes. It’s there inside me so there is no choice. But what happened was that i was, in a positive not consious way, not busy with it and for two weeks released from my symptoms. I was in a new place and sometimes i thought: wow, this calmness is really here inside me. I thought little about my anxiety and it did not made me anxious. I was free. Then i got home and hello, here it is again. There is a part of me that says: this is because here are my triggers. I also realized that there is peace in me. What can you say about this experience?

Best analysis on health anxiety I've heard. My symptom is skipped heartbeats and I can create them out of thin air by feeling my pulse on my neck. A few weeks back they disappeared for a few weeks. I would feel my pulse and I didn't get any skipped beats. I found that surprisingly unnerving not to have them. My anxiety is always looking for some internal issue

Can relate so much to all of this. It's hard to find any professionals or anyone that understands this. Thanks for this video, it's super helpful. The biggest takeaway for me in this was not to focus on the symptoms going away - and of course that's our nature; we're always going to want that to go away. Seeing it as an inner healing journey is something I'm going to try. I certainly do wake up every morning, and check for the anxiety symptoms, always expecting them without much hope. And it does occur to me at least every day that maybe this is something physical that is being missed.

People who have anxiety can become anxious when there is the absence of symptoms. Freud called this symptom substitution or wandering hysteria but it’s really just your internal mind set or program being habituated to worry. After all it’s concluded that all your worry has worked to save you so far. It’s an exaggeration false alarm

Omg. J think I just had a lightbulb moment while watching this video. It makes sense now! I think my problem is that I’m expecting my blood pressure anxiety to be there. Blood pressure is not what’s scares me , it’s the anticipation and the expecting that I’m gonna be anxious about it, that really scares me. I expect that anxiety to be there. Does that make sense?

Dear Dennis, how do you explain that always when I have some simptom I do always hear that someone with thw same simptoms has a serious illnes. The first I think ouh this is a sign and that makes me feel worse.Do I actially vibrating in the frequence of fear and I attract that kind of informations.

Because your mind is sorting for the worst in relation to the symptom you feel. It’s the ‘emotional refractory period’ at work, it’s like buying a jeep and seeing keeps everywhere around you, that is until you buy something else (or emotionally invest in a new idea).

Does it make sense to feel better around people but not having any personal interaction, i.e. grocery store etc. Severely anxious and scared around people I know. Dread coming home.

    • @TheAnxietyGuy1
      @TheAnxietyGuy1  Před 4 měsíci +2

Absolutely, however the dread is simply a perception turned into a feeling and doesn’t need to be acknowledged as a legitimate fear.

I wake startled and sweating mutiple times a night. Therapy works during the day mostly but night time is hell. I stopped my ssri under supervision but now cant function real well due to the sleep issues. Ssris cause depersonalization and derealization. They help mood and motivation are better but I cant connect with the world and it looks weird.

They haven't caused that for me. Maybe it depends on the type and dosage. I take mine before bed. I have amazing morning dreams, and feel like it helps me to incredibly clear thinking and articulate. Maybe speak to your doc about other SSRI's. Sertraline maybe. And dosage. Maybe it's too high. Hope things improve x

Have you tried putting on relaxing music, or even just background noise like crickets or rain while you sleep? You can also find softly spoken story narrations on CZcams for this very purpose.

I have a fan on in the background but it doesn't help much. It is like my subconscious is attacking me at night. My doc has me on a low dose valium which I've been taking for five years. Weaned down to .5 mg liquid. I've been told it doesn't impact my sleep but it seems I have a low mood and mood swings the next day. I also totally don't feel like me.
