She was even in a band and they covered this song. Fast forward to dec 2008 and she passed away. On the third day after her passing this song randomly came on the radio as a throwback and ALL I HEARD WAS HER VOICE!! It was one night in 1975 or 76 when I saw Hall and Oates in Dallas. They hadn't hit the big time yet and were preforming two shows in a night club here. I went to the late show alone coz I couldn't find anyone who knew enough about them to join me. So glad that I did.
They were one of the tightest bands I have ever seen. Daryl on keys, John on lead guitar and Charlie Dechant on sax. So much so that the guy next to me at the bar who was a cowboy looking guy and who was there only to drive his fiancee home from work (she was a waitress). He ignored the band for about three songs with his back to the stage. On the fourth song or so, he tapped me on the shoulder and asked; "who are these guys?" He was grooving/dancing to Hall and Oates for the rest of their set. That's how good they are.
I've seen them three or four times over the years and have never been disappointed.

Daryl Hall and John Oates cross barriers with their music.. When they came out they shot straight to the top. They got more hits as a duo threat but this time has an affect on you.. I was scared to put this song as one my many karaoke songs but one night it hit why not.. This one guy would always do it and it kind of rude to sing someone signature song but I thought go for it. Last night it was packed bar and rough and guys just wanted a piece of that song as they gathered close to the mic. Yeah these guys normally rowdy just mellowed out and partook it the song. Yes that’s the magic of Hall and Oates and their many hits. As proof this group have saved many a relationship with the beauty brand of music. Oh yeah Daryl’s House is amazing creation..He brings singers to the house gives them an open house, gourmet meal and live performances with that singers .. Don’t believe check it out.. One of the greatest duo groups of all time. LB September 2021

as a child hearing this song,
i did not appreciate his great voice but
i was bewildered and impressed at the same time
    by him
for conveying a range of feeling
    that i could not understand
but it was another one of those adult secrets

My favorite part is so simple & understated “ make me feel like a man, keeping me from being crazy crazy smile a while for me”. Idk why that part hits my heart to tears every time. Perhaps it’s the register change to his lower tone before rising again. Right in the heart chakra

Sweet! I saw two these guys outside MoMA. Two men and a cheap guitar. I couldn't believe the music coming from these two players. They were destined!
