  • Today's video, I explain why I did not purchase a box truck, but settled for a high roof extended transit van. I only do local work, and the vehicle I purchased has been a game changer for the type of work I'm doing. I also explain why I purchased from Enterprise over a dealership.

    I have the Legend flooring in my 148 high roof extended E Transit and that thing is awesome. The opening at the side door and back doors have silver diamond plating which is great for when newbies on a fork wack into it haha. Congrats that truck is great. High roof mafia whaaaaat?!🎉

    First off, congrats! But i do have to disagree with the rental vehicle statement you've made. I rent cars very often for my business (mainly from Hertz but enterprise also). Sometimes I'll have one rental for as long as 2 months straight and just for sh!ts and giggles, I'll check the oil and coolant levels. Plenty of times the oil was as black as the dead of night and coolant levels very low. Also, it's been times I've had the maintenance required message come on and I'll take to the rental location to exchange it so they can do the maintenance and all they'll do is reset the message and say "dont worry about it, you're good". I can be wrong but i think they do oil changes every 10k miles. Which is not recommended by any trusted mechanic. 3k miles preferably. 5k at the most. Plenty of times I've received a car that has been in an accident and it's very noticeable. (Paint color is off, bumper/fender not lining up, etc) It's a reason car rental places sell their car at a certain point and it's not to bring in new inventory. One reason is to recoup some of their initial investment but it's all about liability. Either the manufacturer warranty is about up and they don't want to be responsible for any out of pocket repairs or the vehicle needs repair(s) and they're trying to dump it. If you notice, a lot of rentals go through dealers-only auctions and most of them have something wrong with it. In my opinion, I believe you should take the van to a Ford dealership or a trusted mechanic and have them do an inspection on it.

    Congratulations on the new van! I wanted to comment on the last video when you showed it. You made some important points about it versus a box truck and it’s all true (I have a 24ft box truck and less mpg, can’t park at home, my insurance is $1259 a month, I only get 8 to 10 mpg, I got inspected by DOT twice in a day and it made me miss a delivery on a Friday causing me to have to wait the whole weekend to make that delivery on a Monday, I can’t just get up and go when a job pops up because I have to drive to my truck and then go, and plus I have to have an Electronic Log that DOT can check to make sure I’m not going over my hours driving in a day).
    For the work you are doing that is a perfect upgrade and the biggest type of van you can get before you have to start worrying about DOT (not sure how big the Mercedes sprinter vans get).
    I know you mentioned less content but no worries! We came into the business to do the business. Business first!👍🏾

      Same as car purchases. They only work with a few finance companies, so I would check rates with your bank and be prepared to refinance. Financing with them will be expensive, so definitely consider refinancing if you choose to purchase a van from them.

    Rental car dealerships are the absolute worst place to buy a car from, Trust me ‼️

  • @huntercricket-tb2dr
    @huntercricket-tb2dr Před 3 měsíci +2

    Sorry, but you don’t make any sense whatsoever. Rental cars are abused and should be avoided. When I rent and collision insurance is added I can abuse that rental as much as I want. No one cares about rental vehicles. Really not sure what you are talking about.
    And yes, I think you lost a-lot of money by keeping that van only for one year and trading it in for this new van. You even took extra insurance protection for many years and ended up wasting all that money. Me thinks you worked for free or even for a loss in 2023.

    • @BigCJCargoVan
      @BigCJCargoVan  Před 3 měsíci +1

      NO ONE cares about rental cars is an ignorant statement, I care, so your wrong. What proof or evidence do you have that proves purchasing a rental car is not a good idea? How can you prove they are abused. I can prove they are well maintained mechanically and pass a certified inspection before they are sold. Does a dealership or private seller do that?
      Then you double down on your ignorance regarding my van upgrade. I'm averaging 2k per week and just made 3k in one week because of my upgrade. No money wasted, I actually came out better with the trade in then I was before. All of your assumptions are fueled by jealousy. It's very obvious, just let it go, I'm good.

    • @huntercricket-tb2dr
      @huntercricket-tb2dr Před 3 měsíci +1

      Purchasing rental cars is for naive folks who don’t know what they are doing. Why do you think one owner vehicle’s are always preferred? One owner means one driver. In your case it could be that 100 drivers already drove that van. It could be that some Amazon logistics partner had rented that van and it was driven by some young drivers in their early 20’s distributing packages and heavy stop and go usage.
      Also, you never made enough money in your old van so you always had to go and work in your car or minivan delivering food to make it. Your old van depreciated but you never made enough money with it. By trading it in so early and only after one year you lost a lot of money on it. My conclusion is that you operated that van at a loss for 2023. Big loss IMHO.
