    Nice video, again. I also have an X308-SC, so I enjoy watching your informative posts.
    It would be very interesting to see in a short video now after the summer what the processing of the leather looks like.
    thanks again

    I've done stuff like that in the past with the Sandpaper and filler and all that but it was just comes back best thing to do is to just get you a nice classy seat cover cover it and get over it and whenever you take the cover off it'll be like it just came out of the showroom

    What grade sandpaper are you using? 400 grit? 600 grit? The proper grit is important here so i would like to know. Thanks.

    Hi Roly, I've got some XJR Penta wheels and the XKR Five Spoke wheels if you're wanting a swap with your Asteroids. Cheers for the video, this is next on my to-do list.

      Im glad you like the Asteroids but I’m afraid I don’t want to swap! I do love these wheels. They really set the car off well. 😃

    in your opinion can the filler work if the crack has gone all the way through? Thank you for the informative video.

      The leather dye came from Furniture Clinic, you can purchase this from eBay.
      The leather cleaner is from Auto Glym.

    Hi Roy,
    Would one kit be enough to cover every seat?

      One 250ml bottle should do a seat due to having to apply 2 to 3 coats.

    Lovely stuff. I really need a Jaguar in my life. I'm put off by the X308 due to the V8's plastic guides and multiple cars I've seen having had new engines. Quite like the idea of the X350 but worried about electrical issues. Quite like the XJ40 and X300. Hmmm...

    • @Musicmedstudio
      @Musicmedstudio Před 5 měsíci

      I own an x350 and is an absolut gem. I can’t stop myself driving it. I would say that in my case the only ones worth buying are the v8 4.2 or the xjr 4.2

      @@Musicmedstudio I have seen multiple X350s with gearbox issues - any idea what's going on there?

    • @Musicmedstudio
      @Musicmedstudio Před 5 měsíci

      @@lukemallory7832 strange, because the gearbox is a ZF 6HP one of the most reliable out there. The only thing that needs doing is an oil change every 50.000 miles. They are known as being bullet proof.

      @@Musicmedstudio Yes, I was surprised. I wondered then if Jag did something with the installation that caused issues, because in the back of my mind I recall the S-Type having gearbox issues on the 3.0 V6 versions. I was offered a 2007 XJ6 (my ideal year, pre X358 and without rubbing strips on doors) with about 120,000 miles on it but it had issues. A leak and some electrical gremlins. Now I was quite happy to try and sort it out, as I enjoy fixing things, however, when I pressed the owner about its exact issues he flippantly replied "It's a Jag.." and I walked away. Since then I've come across a 2004 and 2005 both with gearbox issues - one was a 6 the other an 8. All is well with yours?

    • @Musicmedstudio

      @@lukemallory7832 to be fair, this was my best ownership experience with a car. Apart of serviceable items, nothing went wrong. I have changed the thermostat and 2 coils out of the 8. Mine sits at just over 150.000 miles and it’s an absolute joy. I’m always looking for reasons to go out for a drive. The known issue with them are the interior door handles(which can easily be replaced by yourself at approx 35£ a piece), the headlining could start sagging(if it bothers you, a garage can fix it for approx 350£), the glovebox glue can give up(easy to fix yourself with liquid nails 10£ from b&q), thermostat with housing (200£ fitted), possible coil packs. This are the most common known issues.

    I have the same or worse with my stype and wonder if it would be a better use of my time just replacing the seat leather.

    • @throwback19841
      @throwback19841 Před 5 měsíci

      Replace the seat leather. The filler will crack and peel in the exact same spot. you can even see on this seat that the squab has been done before and cracked again - the perforations are partially filled in. I did this on my x100 xkr seat and same thing happened. I now have a new seat of seat upholstry instead, which is a faff to put on but a better result overall. An upholstry shop can repair existing covers though by removing the bad panels and sewing in new ones.
