    I own a JK and I'm off road once a week. It's not the model of the Jeep, it's the driver. Thanks for an informative video. Stay safe on the trail

    I'm in the process of restoring my '03 Rubicon. More so rust removal and prevention. All the odds and ends are getting done first (facelift if you will), mechanical (pretty good there), axels and then a lift and tires.
    Nice jeep, I like that front bumper. Great video, thanks for making it. It's a change seeing TJ videos, everything now is the newer body style.

      haha yes

    • @kswyg001
      @kswyg001 Před 8 lety +2

      So all JK's are for the mall? That seems like someone doesn't get out to see the diversity on the trails. I've got a JK and wheel it regularly. It also sees a ton of road time.....look at "jeep jk in water" for the type of road time it frequently sees.

    • @supertroopercj5
      @supertroopercj5 Před 8 lety +9

      +kswyg you are in the minority of JK owners. some actually use them offroad but most JKs will never see dirt, their owners just bolt on a bunch of accessories and a ton of led light bars because they think it looks cool.

    • @bozboz133

      +supertroopercj5 after 20 years of f150s i just got my first jeep jk wanted one for bout 25 years. just got back from my property did stuff i was afraid to do with my long wheel base trucks! loved it and i will beat the shyte outta it and upgrade on the way. we're not all mall riders haha. but i do understand the label

    • @Ghillieman04
      @Ghillieman04 Před 8 lety +4

      Yeah older non jk jeep owners get soo salty when they see a jk with modern amenities that actually don't look like a toy piece of shit. Jk's are more capable and you obviously don't get out to public trails nearly all jeeps out there are jk's . just upgrade to a not antiquated jeep and you won't have to put jk owners down LMAO

    This is a well made video with clear and accurate info for beginners. But it's not why I subscribed to this channel. I'm here to see actual work being done. Fab work, welding, axle builds etc.

    • @michaelbleepinjeep5817
      @michaelbleepinjeep5817 Před 8 lety

      It is easier to shoot a beginner video when the Jeep still looks the most stock it will look, right? Although this TJ won't be an all out build some of what you are hoping for is in the cards. New axles are need and that will be the next big project as I mentioned in the TJ intro vid. Just need to finish up some planning.

  • @Keyno77
    @Keyno77 Před 7 lety

    Break-over point is not always cleared with a suspension lift as they have transfer case and control arm lowering brackets. Best way to increase clearance is to install largest tires possible without lift even to the point to cut fender, and add fender flares. The goal is the maintain lower center of gravity to no flip over. The second, yes would be lockers, but those things are expensive.

  • @khalidwalid3807

    I think sometimes when you find extra time make some videos over some mechanical issues of jeep cherokee. Like for example Jeep XJs have a engine knocking sound that is very common yet very annoying and how to fix it.

    A small body lift lets you do a tummy tuck which on a TJ significantly increases clearance by several inches and improves breakover.... You can also lift the fuel tank (or run a bigger one). The body lift potentials were way down played in this video...

  • @cbr6864

    maybe a series more geared towards technical mods would work better. i wheeled XJs for a few years but switched to a TJ. grew tired of unibody constantly needing to be reinforced.

    I started off with a 1958 ford f-100 later 1980 f-100 both had 4 on the floor. I saw jeeps and other 4x4s stuck in ditches one guy back over a shopping cart in the snow and got stuck the cart lifted his rear off the ground and his front tires just kept dragging the cart behind I figured out what every off reader knows know where your going and what's there. Faster is not better! When you hear a clunk, bang, or clank stop and figure out what made that sound. Last powering through is always a bad idea if you don't know what your powering through.
    Signed never been stuck!

    • @nuanenfreohr
      @nuanenfreohr Před 8 lety +1

      Rust prevention. Undercoating the floors, making sure the carpet isn't collecting water. (Mine was-cowl was leaking-still is but carpet is out-) I don't know about the wranglers but the XJ are famous for rusting out. And batteries! If running all those fancy things off road, got to have a reliable battery, or duel set up like Matt did on the zombie jeep (I'm doing that sometime in the future hopefully)

      They are both functional. Coil will have significantly more options on the market. But leafsprings are just as sturdy and provide less axle sway on uneven ground.

    • @michaelbleepinjeep5817
      @michaelbleepinjeep5817 Před 8 lety

      The dana 30 is a pretty good axle and will run up to 35's. The bigger questions is what you have in the rear? Is it a D44 or the D35? If it is the D35, then it is only a matter of time before it fails.

    • @michaelbleepinjeep5817
      @michaelbleepinjeep5817 Před 8 lety +2

      Not if you want to use the four-wheel drive. Otherwise something is going to break/wear out.

    • @kristoferjonsson3362
      @kristoferjonsson3362 Před 8 lety

      +Michael BleepinJeep Not necessarily. In mud racing it's common to have lower (number) gearing in the front to allow higher wheel speed. But if you are driving on a hard surface it's a bad idea to have mismatched gearing.

    • @michaelbleepinjeep5817
      @michaelbleepinjeep5817 Před 8 lety

      There's certainly an extreme exception to every rule. This video is mostly targeted to the offroading newbies-people who just bought their first Jeep or just decided to upgrade. For them, and 99%+ of Jeep owners, the gears should match.

    • @austincassell4741
      @austincassell4741 Před 8 lety

      lots of trucks have different gears. you can't use them on the payment in 4wd. however if you are on rocks mud snow etc. you will be fine. my 79 f250 has 4.11 in the rear and 3.54 in the front. original gears from 79

    • @johndough9187
      @johndough9187 Před 7 lety

      Kind of assuming here that we're talking about daily drivers also used for off road. You want your gears (assuming same size tires) to match as closely as possible. Or else.
