    The best ever comparison! You used the room recording and not a $1000k closeup microphone! Well done my friend 👍. A true sound test!

    The one thing I will say is the Guild is all wood and the Taylor is laminate back and sides. I did play both and for me I felt the M120 had the blues vibe which I was looking for I just think if your going to Mexico and China to build a guitar and charge $500+ make it all wood. Also leave him alone about the sunglasses playing guitar is cool and if he feels cool good for him.

    The Taylor GS Mini and the Guild M120 are very nice for the price. The Taylor is very versatile and is made in particular for the strumming whereas the guild is made for the picking. Personally If I had to choose, I ' ll take the guild.

    I think guild is warmer , still better for strumming, I prefer guild. Great video thanks

    Truly great comparison. Yes, you can really hear the room and the playing is repetitive but that's what I like about this vid - it makes the difference between these guitars pretty obvious. I own an M120 and I've heard the GS mini. Everything you hear in this vid is pretty close to reality. The M120 is a more mellow sounding instrument. I tend to like that. They're different. It's great to have both of these guitars though, especially in the studio recording layers of acoustic guitars!

    Late to the party ... but just listened and I think I prefer the GS-mini. The Guild seems darker and warmer, whereas the GS-Mini sounds brighter and more percussive. Question of taste I guess. Wouldn't mind one of each, but if I had to choose one would take the Taylor. Thanks for posting!

    Interesting demo! They sound worlds different, but I like both. The GS Mini is a bit more mellow. M120 seems a bit brighter and more focused. Would love both, but will buy a GS Mini soon.

  • @philchapman1463
    @philchapman1463 Před 2 lety +3

    I like Taylors quite a bit but sometimes they seem to be lacking in midrange thickness and can seem a bit too thin but I do like the highs on some playing styles. The Guild for me has a fuller midrange and this adds some fuller bodiness (thickness) to the over all sound. I get fatigued of the Taylor brightness after a while of playing and yearn for deeper tones.

  • @joeytruelove
    @joeytruelove Před 7 lety +1

    My guess is that the acoustics of the room and properties of the mic play some part in how the guitars are evaluated. The Taylor, not surprisingly, cut through better. The warm midrange of the Guild is lost in the room of some reason. Properly mic'ed the perception of both would have been quite different.

    • @FlorianMaleville
      @FlorianMaleville  Před 7 lety

      Yes of course the acoustic of the room is very important on a guitar test . But it's not the only reason it sounds like that : the test has been made just after buying the both guitars . So it's surely a little bit different that if they had been bought and played a long time ago . Thank you for commenting !

    which guitar did you find was easier to play in terms of action? what gauge strings does the m120 come with? Tonewise how do you compare them?

    • @FlorianMaleville
      @FlorianMaleville  Před 10 lety +1

      Thanks for watching. I find the Taylor easier to play in terms of action. I use Elixir strings (10-52) for the Taylor and D'addario strings (10-52) for the Guild.

    I thought the Guild sounded good and maybe a little louder but I noticed some great sounds coming out of the Taylor. I have a Taylor 150e twelve string that sounds so wonderful I just ordered a Taylor 110ce six string. I would be happy with either of those guitars. The Guild sounded deeper and more mellow on one of the cuts. Great playing, repeating the same lines, and the sunglasses are cool, no problem. Some of these dudes are just jealous. You have to have that coefficient of cool; you know what I mean?

      Matthew Bolduc Hello, thank you for your comment , I’m glad you enjoy this (old) movie . I’d like to play on a 150e 12 string , I didn’t know this guitar before . It would be interesting to compare with my Seagull Artist Studio 12 which sounds pretty good too ! Anyway , the Guild M120 and the Taylor GS mini are good for them price. I have never been disappointed by Taylor's guitars , and my 114ce became my main guitar ! ;) Thank you again for your support ! I really appreciate it !

      I just got my new Taylor 110ce today. It's a real nice guitar and sounds good thru the amp but the 150ce 12 string has the Expression sound system and pickups and these sound very excellent and are used in the higher level Taylors; remarkable sounding.. The 110ce has the Expression system T, which is a modified under saddle transducer type and sounds good too; probably the same one that is in the .GS mini.

    Interessante confronto, sono entrambe belle, mia moglie ha iniziato da poco con la Guild Om 120 e l’alternativa era proprio la GS mini, potresti gentilmente consigliarmi delle corde adatte alla Guild? Phosphor-bronze o 80/20 e’ il dilemma, non capiamo quali siano quelle montate di fabbrica, sembrerebbero 80/20 mentre in alcune specifiche pare siano consigliate le phosphor-bronze. Grazie e complimenti per il videoconfronto.

    the guild might be all solid wood, but to me the gs mini sounds more balanced. not fair to judge from a youtube video, but all solid wood is not always better than laminate. gs mini has a solid top.

    Salut,
    je ne sais pas réellement si l'on peut dire que la Taylor Gs Mini est de format concert, mais la Guild M120 est bien de format concert .En comparant, je trouve qu'il n'y a pas de différences majeures en ce qui concerne la taille de la caisse (seule la forme change).Elle ne devrait pas te poser de problèmes particuliers, en plus elle est très facile à jouer...Merci d'avoir regardé et n'hésite pas si tu as d'autres questions ;)

    Hate the gloss. I prefer the sound of the Taylor as well. A bit more warm sounding. I think all that gloss has an effect on the overall sound. Actually, the difference in sound is probably largely due to bracing differences as well.

    GS mini sounds more colorful and pretty than all-solid Guild. However, I like the all-solid guitars because I can feel them dance by the resonance. Only my ears can feel the music with the top-solid ones, while m whole body can feel the music with the all-solid guitars.
