I feel bad for people who don’t get Cornette. He’s a national treasure.
International you might say. Im not even American and even though I see his American bias he's taught so much about wrestling. Everyone could learn something from him if they werent all so eager to get offended
Shawn interviewer :vince
Jim cornette:FUCK VINCE RUSSO.
I get him, but he is a gimmick sometimes. Just if he didn't insult everybody, he would be useful. His nature makes him Toxic. He was fired from everywhere...
@@Na_Desportiva And yet made himself a great living everywhere he went.
@@Na_Desportivaillinformed
So basically, Gunther vs. Ilja Dragunov...
Yup!
Gunther v Dragunov. Yeah, that's wrestling. U got it right, sir
Banger of all bangers
He says that's one of the best matches he's seen in the last decade or so. That says alot about how great those guys are.
First match that came to my head was walter vs tyler bate
it's THAT simple, yet 90% of modern wrestlers don't understand this
Because now the little guy is the asshole and the big guy's the hero🤷♂️
Now it's about meaningless hardcore parkour
Shit id say Modern Fans dont understand this.
Wwe is finally starting to get this right again, they have a bunch of popular good guys on the roster and 2 main bad guys in Gunther and Roman Reigns, sadly the same can't be said for aew right now with MJF not being that main bad guy anymore there's not really anyone to go against outside of management lmao.
nowadays it's all about showing flashy moves that might paralyze you and how many stars uncle dave gave you.
Jim gets it better than anyone else in the business
This is the mentality carried by almost everyone in the business other than Vince Russo, Jim just summed it up very well.
It’s crazy how some of these old timers still have the enthusiasm
I think Triple H is far more knowledgeable when it comes to booking and all around creative.
@@morganmcgovern3125no it’s not wwe does this 50% at best and aew shovels this ideology in the toilet
@gamemasterultima how exactly? AEW have clearly defined heels and faces. They get their characters over through words and actions in the same way WWE does. They just have a fan base that cares more about the sporting aspect of pro wrestling rather than having storylines spoon-fed to them like toddlers.
Dudes a pro wrestling library of congress.
Exactly why Stone Cold not taking crap from the boss was such a huge success.
Stone Cold was the avatar of every pissed-off working and middle-class dude who had an irredeemable prick for a boss.
@@jackdaone6469 Yup. Bird flipping, beer drinking, piss poor attitude, ain't taking it from you Mr....They struck GOLD with that one!
And then they could've had that again with CM Punk vs the authority but they dropped the ball

Jim Cornette is everything I love about wrassling.
It's too bad he verbalized some non-PC comments over the years, otherwise, he could still be a valuable asset to some rasslin' company.
@@gene_takovic57 You take what you can, nobody's perfect. And for a sport as likely problematic on the inner layers as wrassling, he's probably not as bad as a lot of people. He's very open about everything he says and feels, and hides very little.
@@gene_takovic57, his past isn't the issue, it's the current state of wrestling and the fact he doesn't want to do it anymore as the reason he doesn't. If he wanted to work in wrestling, someone would hire him.
Man, Corny's just the best.
I've always thought wrestling to be a pre-determined, choreographed, athletic theatre. Jim is right here, people go because they want to watch their favourite stories played out live right in front of you.
The action is 50% of it
@@knightshiningarmouraew - 100% action!!
@MarkBrisco except it's not they actually do a fuckload of stories, tbe emphasis is just on in ring action because that's what their fanbase wants. Puro is often 100% action and the stories are told almost exclusively in the ring. That's why people who don't speak Japanese can still understand it.
To me, wrestling is a comic book movie on a lower budget.
@@Mr.VAGlNA they have stories, it's just bad
This is why we love jim
Or it could be the opposite. You could see some little guy in a bar running his mouth surrounded by a bunch of people, then all of a sudden the biggest chillest dude in the bar gets up and knocks him out. Now he’s the hero. It’s not about changing the formula like all these indie nobodies wanna do, it’s plugging different variables into a proven equation.
That's not realistic though chill big dudes are just soft hiding behind size it would never happen
@@hayatefaith4273 what are you like 5’ 2”?😂
@@FishJesus420 basically, a b*** is a b*** either way
That’s why guys like Flair and 90’s HBK succeeded. People wanted to see the big guy kick the shit out of them 😂
A little asshole and his buddies going around bullying and harassing people, no one can stand up to them and their numbers, until... a larger than life hero comes into the picture and beats all of them through superior strength and spirit, or through cunning and tenacity, or a group of people must band together to fight against these pricks.
Love him or hate him, you have to admire his passion for wrestling. He has the love of that kid we all were on Saturday mornings or at your first live event.
💯
I hate the man but absolutely love his passion for the business
We can never let Corney's mentality of the business die out
Unfortunately, it already has. It’s been replaced by a cooperative stunt show filled with high spots to make up for a lack of kayfabe and storytelling.
At least with UFC, you know it’s a real fight, even if you aren’t particularly interested in any of the participants.
Also Jim: If you see two little guys do a trampoline routine. That's AEW.
The absolute GOAT!
Any combat sport these days really but Wrestling most definitely.
Most modern wrestlers are 'spot monkies' now or 'Furniture junkies' the basics are lost on them.
Are you a wrestler?
I'm not a pro wrestler but I still know a spot monkey from a pro wrestler. Just like I'm not an olympic swimmer but I can still tell if someone's drowning.@@grump1537

Why is Sabu mad at the furniture? Sorry I had to. Love you Sabu lol
The problem is, when you know the two guys on the side of the road are just doing an elaborate dance, then you just keep driving.
😂😂😂
If two guys were randomly doing an elaborate dance in style of a fight at the side of road I wouldn't definitely stop and watch
Jim Cornette is one of the best wrestling minds of all time. Love his passion for it
That's our Corny!! Like Mussolini with extra CHEESE!!!
That's the best description of wrestling I've ever heard.
Listen to Corny explain it with the Devil goes to Georgia. It's amazing
1:11 I wanted to scream "Yes!" too.
It's insane how easily vets like Corny get the business, but that same concept is somehow too difficult for many modern wrestlers to get.
His knowledge of the business is amazing! Thanks for watching!
This is why Jim Cornette is a living LEGEND only few people understand the business as much as he does, this is what modern flippy dudes not understand and never will get over as huge as people like Cena, Punk, Austin, Roman, Rock, HBK, Taker, Edge, Bryan, Bret, Hogan, Savage, Jericho, Angle, Lesnar and so many guys who have MADE IT in this business, if you can't tell a good story in the ring and in a MIC (or have someone doing the talking), not even bother.
Yes this new gen is killing themselves for nothing
You mean 10,000 high spots per match isn't the answer?🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@mcole442 Exactly
Jim is Encyclopedia of wrestling knowledge, as a years long member of the Cult of Cornette just want to say thanks Jim.
Im too used to only listening to Cornette in his podcast that I forgot how he acts visually.
It’s a formula as old as time I’m glad we’re in an era where his teachings can be documented and preserved forever because sadly without it it would’ve been lost
The climax of this happened on sunday at XL 🎉‼️
I remember back in 1994 when Corny battled Chef Chen Kenichi on the original Iron Chef Japan. It was a close battle, tiger prawn was The Chairman's secret ingredient. It came down to a delicious spicy prawn dish that Corny pulled off with mere minutes to spare. I'll never forget Kenichi's face when Cornette pulled off the miracle win and beat Kenichi at his own game, spicy prawn. Not only is he one of the greatest managers in wrestling history, he's an amazing Chef!!!!!
You have the secret ingedient wrong, it was Tiger Mask not tiger prawn.
@@innocentbystander72 I'm surprised it took so long for someone to make any sort of comment back to me.Considering how bizarre a statement I made. I assumed I'd get completely cussed out. I think everyone must just be confused.
@@LOSKOSKII'm curious, why did you make that statement? Are you a big Iron Chef fan and a big Cornette fan, so you wanted to post a scenario where those two were combined ?

I love how deep Jim's love for wrestling really goes. ❤️
He just described Daniel Bryan vs The Authority storyline
You made a great point! I never thought of that, thanks for watching!
😂 the picture of Jim looks like mrs doubtfire
This is such a beautiful way to describe wrestling. "Get even for YOU"--If you are a long time wrestling fan then you know this part hit really hard.
Walter/gunther is the best wrestler on the planet right now. Never has a bad match, often match of the night, commits to his character, can tell a story, and makes wrestling feel real
Jim Cornette Masterfully explained pro wrestling.
Tbf he’s right 😂😂
No one can say Cornette doesnt love & know pro wrestling
I always tell people it’s 360 degree live theatre put on by people with more athleticism than most professional athletes can dream of having and with more emotion than Hollywood cares to capture
Jazz music with strangle-holds.
Live theatre with athletic actors, working as a team without any real rehearsal. Just watch Rock and Hulkster from WM whatever number it was.
His face lights up even after 50 years. I wish i still had the enthusiasm for wrestling that he does.
Not many people have it nowadays. Thanks for watching!
That's why freshly squeezed Orange Cassidy is so entertaining.
What clip is this from?
What interview is this from?
"You drive down the side of the road"
I uhh, drive down the actual road, Jim.....
Cornette saved me from being a buckaroo.
That’s basically Randy orton vs Rey Mysterio
Lol😂 Thanks for watching!
I wish cornette would have managed ftr
Cornette is such a genius
He mentions “the little guy” here and builds him up and proves that people empathize with smaller guys fighting bigger guys but has spent collective HOURS on his show basically calling for anyone under 6’ from being removed from the industry because it’s not “realistic” to have a smaller man beat a bigger man and that smaller guys don’t draw. This fuckin’ carny. You gotta love him
He’s a legend! Thanks for watching!
So basically Rey Mysterio vs Kane
😂😂 Thanks for watching!
Eddie Gurerro vs Brock Lesner basically.
Wrestling is a simple simple concept that has always and will always work best when you keep it that way
I cant help but feel like the internet and smarks have taken some of the charm away from wrestling by over critiquing and over analysing every promo and every match
Sometimes you just gotta let wrestling be wrestling
Very well said! Thanks for watching!
Best explanation of profesional wrestling ever! Corny rules!
There's a reason why shows ABOUT wrestling draw bigger audiences than wrestling itself, because post-kayfabe, now that we are all "smart", the non-scripted parts happening behind the scenes or within its history are what we gravitate to. As the sign said in Bill Watt's office, "Personal Stories Sell."
God damn right reverend James preach on
I hope Jim Cornette outlives me
I hope he outlives Russo!
@@I_feel_a_little_likei can't wait to see the video of him pissing on Russo's grave
Yes we all loved Hogan vs. Warrior II
Except that all wrestling matches are so expected nowadays and there's no surprises at all, of course social media can be blamed but it is what it is
I can't believe after 20 years booing the crap out Jim cornette just waiting for him to fall off that scaffold he's my go to guy for anything wrestling especially when rasslin was REAL
I remember seeing Corney for the first time. It was when he was in WCCW, He was so good at his role of making the fans hate him that I could not do anything but enjoy him. He became my favorite manager and second favortie wrestling personality, Brusier Brody will always be number one in my book.
Cornette was born too early to enjoy shonen anime, but just in time for comics and wrestling
What is this from? I want to see the whole interview
I think this is the whole interview, it looks like something that has been clipped from Dark Side Of The Ring, but which episode I can't say. I'd maybe guess the Brawl For All one? It's the one where what wrestling is and isn't would maybe have been discussed, but I can't be sure
Cornette is exactly right. When i was about 6 years old I just happened to see a wrestling match on TV for the 1st time. It was a tag team match between two big guys and two smaller guys. I was soon rooting for the smaller guys even though I knew nothing about them. Ever since then I've been a fan.
Where is this from?
Lets spam Joe Rogan's DM's to get Jim Cornette onto his show.
I remember growing up in Indiana watching Memphis wrestling on Louisville tv, with young Jim as a heel manager with his tennis racket. Superstar Bill Dundee was the little guy I was rooting for, just like Jim describes.
So many modern, indie wrestlers, primarily from the AEW camp, don’t seem to understand or don’t seem to appreciate the concept of baby faces and heels.
inspiring ❤🔥❤🔥
❤️
95% of the AEW roster: Nah bro, it needs 14 Canadian Destroyers at least
Cornette booked the first hiac
Together with Bobby Heenan, he was the absolution heel manager in the past. Love him 🏸
For a kid at a wrestling show, he gets to cheer for his hero. For a working class hero, he gets to heckle the douchebag.
If everyone understands what pro wrestling truly is, then everyone is going to have fun.
And thats why when Rey Mysterio won the heavyweight chjampionship at Wrestlemania 22 worked.
Id pay an entire paycheck to watch Corny vs Vince Russo in a shoot fight 😂
Another good example of wrestling is Survivor Series 96. A talented wrestler has been gone for months and months. What is he going to be like when he returns? Especially facing a man he has never faced before? It's likely he's going to win, but how much of a fight will the other guy give him? In that match people were looking at Stone Cold just as much as the Hitman. I loved it. And it wasn't even the best match those guys had against each other. That's what keeps you watching wrestling.
Shore but sometimes, you conect with the big guy and not the small one, like for example, Big show vs the authority, but most of all, you conect with the wrestlers personality more then his wrestling skills, that's why the attitude era drew more eye balls to the business, then the 80's or 70s or 60s
Agreed! Thanks for watching!
So elegantly put, very true. Would love it if Jim had his own promotion. Too bad he’s not interested and don’t blame him either
Jim knows his sh*t . 👍
After months of watching him talk behind a cartoon version of him on CZcams, it’s pretty weird to see his actual face talking. lol
“$5 or $10” 💀
Yeah but what about the fights where there's a few dozen Canadian destroyers, super kicks and middle rope suicide dives into a group of guys just standing there waiting
Thanks cornette one of the best in the business
I will never forget this in my life.
Thanks for watching!

I like two dogs fucking on the side of the road version myself LOL.
Heck I never understood it that well.
This whole speech was taken directly from Jerry Jarrett
Well explained. I wish Jim could have kept it together with the NWA.
Jim could sell ice cream to Eskimos, he’s that fucking good
This narration is more compelling than most actual wrestling today.
This is the guy I listen to, not Meltzer.
That loud bass at the end make my eardrum wanna beat the shit out of my speakers.
I love Jim Cornette's accent tho, I always become focus when someone talking with this accent whether a man or a lady. Which American accent is this?
I’ll be the first to admit I overlooked Corny when I used to watch wrestling. The guy is a genius when comes to this shxt 💯
Thanks for watching bud!
And get even FOR YOU is the most important part - that pathos. Because everybody, on some level, feels like they're disrespected and the little guy.
His SMW was a decent product. It had its limitations but it was well presented, well-lit and professional looking. I would've loved to have seen Cornette with a Tony Khan budget.
1:11 the girl exclaiming ""YES!...God" and Cornette breaking into giggles is such a pure sweet moment, especially from an individual who has worked alongside and seem some of the most depraved carny horrors imaginable.
Definitely was a great heel for his day.
I agree! Thanks for watching!
It’s so sad that this has to be said, not for the fans sake but for the sake of the guys in the ring these days
