I wanted to put together a special kind of experience as a last goodbye to How Long, before I move towards putting out new music. I invited only 25 guests, made up of family, friends, to join me in Winnipeg, in a space that’s very near and dear to me; Stereobus Recording. It’s the place I spent the majority of the 90’s, growing up watching my parents record all of their own albums, and nearly two decades later, recording my own.
I wanted to show these songs in their rawest and most evolved form, in a place that could only be described as Familiar Ground.

For years I’ve been telling people that the best ‘internet discovery’ I’ve ever stumbled across was Gary Clark Jnr - but now it’ll be Ariel Posen !!
This guy wrings so much feeling and emotion out of his guitars, that it can make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. His tone and texture are perfect - and he almost never over-plays.
For me, Ariel is like a fusion of Mark Knopfler, Ry Cooder and DerekTrucks - but without borrowing from any of them. His style is totally unique and unmissable.
He CAN ‘shred’ - I’ve heard him do it - but like Peter Green or MIck Taylor or Paul Kossoff, he prefers fewer notes, perfectly chosen and beautifully delivered.
For my money, of today’s “active” guitarists, Ariel Posen and Joe Bonamassa represent the very best out there.
The solos for ‘Angeline’ and ‘Get You Back’ are just something else! 🔥

I'm guessing that's where they hear the live mix of the band (I have no idea why they did that, they could've just used the traditional live band sound), or perhaps that's a hearing protection because the room is too small that they might damage their hearing. who knows?

If John Mayer had written music this good in the past 10 years it'd be on every radio station the world over. Hopefully the hard work pays off. And that guitar tone is just wild. Holy grail stuff.
?? It doesn’t have to be “good” to be on every radio station. And he has written some pretty awesome music in the past 10 years. I’m just getting into Ariel and his band and blown away by the music he’s put out. But I wouldn’t compare Ariel to Mayor. They’re both amazing musicians.
This doesn’t get near the recognition it deserves. It’s a raw, emotional, polished beautiful piece of work. The band is so tight, they genuinely sound and fee like one solid unit. Everyone on that stage are true masters of their craft.

Pretty sure it's been more than 10 years ago, that I've been completely blown away after discovering a "new artist". This sound, this band, these songs, the melody lines, the out of this world baritone guitar and sliding techniques. I just can't wrap my head around it, so beautiful. And to realize this performance has been online for over a year and nobody here in Holland told me about it.... And it's crazy, but Ariel seems to be singing about all my ex-girlfriends.. how the hell did he know?

Much respect to the Sound Engineers. The guitar doesnt sit on top of the bass, it's like they are seperate entities that complement eachother, like a gentlemen's agreement. It's perfectly mixed
Probably has to do with the guitar also being dark . I’ve wondered how his guitar would do in a mix since he likes it to sound dark. I’m gonna check out a live video from an audience member if there is one out there. Curious how it sounds in a live setting without good production for a video . Sounds nice tho

This is just brilliant. This band swings like hell. And the purposeful empty space used as a tool lets the music breathe. I´m stunned. And of course, the guitar playing is not from this planet. By the way, I'm listening to this through my headphones, yet I managed to wake up my whole family by stomping my feet...
This is a great show. Superb songs, beautifully sung and played. The band is fabulous and the backing vocals are lovely. Sound on cans is wonderful.

I agree he is ONE of the best...John Mayer? Joey Landreth? Joe Bonamasa? I could go on, I dont think any one of these guys are the best by any means but there is most definitely an elite group out there!
@@stanSOfresh Respect for all these guys, but I think that JB is not as good a vocalist, Joey is not as good a guitarist (although phenomenal) and Mayer is something different altogether (production, musicians, budget).
For now, I will stand for Ariel. I hope everyone else exceeds my expectations and we end up with inspiration from all of them! I enjoy music from all the guys mentioned here!
