Lyrics:
Pounding the world like a battering ram
Forging the furnace for the final grand slam
Chopping away at the source soon the course will be done
Leaving a trail of destruction that's second to none
Hammering anvils straining muscle and might
Shattering blows crashing browbeating fright
Fast devastating and desolisating the curse
Blasting the cannons of truth through each man of this earth
Wielding the axe comes the one culmination
That's always seemed certain to bring down the curtain on greed
Sifting the good from the bad it's the age for the rage
Of the dogs which must fall to the just and be free
Now grate for the vandals who trampled and sampled
Till this place conditioned brought forth demolition to war
The slipping and sliding corrosive subsiding
That withered and wained till the world seemed all drained fills the bay
Pounding the world like a battering ram
Forging the furnace for the final grand slam
Chopping away at the source soon the course will be done
Leaving a trail of destruction that's second to none
Second to none
I have 83 years and listenning PRIEST day by day.
My kind of guy!
@@Tinga666 Till death do us PART. JP forever.
52 years old, been listening to Priest since I was 15! Never stopped.
You and me both brother. First heard Sad Wings back in 76, I was 15 or 16 and I was fuckin' hooked. My best friend's older brother had this huge collection of records of unknown bands (particularly from England) and he let me hear Priest. As soon as I heard Victim Of Changes and The Ripper, I knew it then...this is the shit! This put Sabbath to shame. For about five years that was almost all I listened to and every time I would open peoples eyes they were like, "Judas Who?" and it wasn't until Vengeance that they exploded. Where were you people all these years, living under a freakin' brick (listening to fuckin' Devo)? Then I saw old footage of Maiden and I knew where they got there thing from. Even their songs, lyrics, titles...it was all Priest influenced. Run To The Hills is just lyrically Savage from Stained Class. The word "flicker" appears in some Maiden song (can't remember which) but who else but Halford would come up with the word "flicker" in his lyrics (from Beyond The Realms Of Death). The idea of Phantom of The Opera is just another incarnation of The Ripper. There's alot more there you just have to look for it but old Maiden is just a poor man's Judas Priest. Not to knock Maiden of course, but Priest set the standard for every metal band thereafter. Now if we can get K.K. Downing off his string of golf courses and back onstage...that would be something else.
Me too bud
52
55 here & first heard them when I was 15. Really going to miss watching Tipton's calm zen smirk whilst blowing the heads clean off of an entire audience.
57 and still rocking 🤟😎🤟
57, same.
Two of the best guitarists in world history from the beginning to the end of time.
I Agree ..... The Best Guitar Team In Heavy Metal History !!!
Tipton and Downing forever Faulkner Go Home
Ian Hill is the most underrated bassist in rock history. He is the root of The Priests heavyness.
Wonder thou if you can hear in any band if a bassplayer missing notes? Question is not related at all to Ian who is rocksolid in backround for yeeeeeeears
Ehhh...Maybe you should listen to the Boss. Steve Harris?
The issue is that Ian is underrated. No doubt that Harris is phenomenal, but he gets the credit he deserves. I've heard in priest interviews, that Ian intentionally underplays his capacity in order to make the music have a more solid feel to it overall.
Why do the morons always use the 'underrated' due to the simple fact they like someone? No, someone isn't 'underrated' and that doesn't make you hip or into something special more than someone else. He is a millionaire with awards and a history going back 40+ years in the business you stupid mook. Get educated.
So so true !!!
The most pure metal band in history
And the biggest! The leaders of heavy metal!
with Les Binks at Unleashed in the East
Yes! Metal in it's purest form!
Истину глаголишь!
Iron Maiden best ever
Pounding the world like a battering ram... best opening line ever
Especially when I’m an Aries🤘💥…this is my Fav JP song🦾
62 yrs old now, been listening to Rob since 19. I am blown away that he still has it! Saw them in San Jose. Left that concert feeling ten years younger, Rob restored my youth after watching him deliver all that power.
yeah man seeing Maiden has the same result too!
I’m I’m 62 years old to my friend you better believe that been listening appraised since 7475 some doo-wop unleashed in the East first album and stained class 76 and so on and so on until current Judas priest forever my friend leaving California April 30 to see them at Rosemont seizure Illinois May 1 and then I’ll be traveling to Kalamazoo Michigan May 4 to see them again. Oh yeah buddy we don’t miss the priest ever funny thing is they’re not doing any West Coast shows at all.
No one has a voice like Halford...League of his own
League of his own
Villain with no morals
@@mandolore_the_glorious7049 DIO is better

he's a beast! He's so fucking supercool!
@@lukebradford Bruce and Ripper aren't on his level
57 yrs old....been rocking since teenager....Judas Priest remains best of all time.....still!!!
63 now, I was 11 when Rob formed the band still listening to this day. The Priest has filled my entire adult life. The band has come full circle evolving into one of the greatest metal bands in the world.
Rob didn't "form the band" (Al Atkins was the original vocalist). Ian Hill and KK Downing were the earliest members who went on to form the "classic" Judas Priest lineup. Halford was the brother of Ian Hill's then-GF and played his first gig with them in May 1973. Tipton joined the following year.
Halford ... the best heavy metal vocalist to me !!! 👍👍👍👍
@@whatchutalkinbout yeah I got that apologies for the mistaken information.
Agreed my friend that’s why I’ll be traveling from California April 30 to see them at the Rosemont theater May 1 then I’ll be traveling to Kalamazoo Michigan May 4 to see them for my second time long live Judas Priest my friend. It’s very unfortunate they’re not doing any California shows until October 5 which is too long for me. I have to see them now we live for today not tomorrow.
They should do more British Steel in concert. It's just right for Rob's vocal range these days.
actually since his highs are headvoice now defenders album / angel of retribution / stained class / hell bent for leather albums suits him better now for separated highs and lows. even painkiller allbum had many slides from high to low without changing registers that much.
There was the anniversary tour for british steel , whole album from A to Z
2009 ? I went twice , that tour
@@Tigerloco70 This video is from the 2009 British Steel 30th anniversary tour
People need to understand that this is THE greatest heavy metal song of all time.
Dunno about that... but it's always been my favorite from British Steel.
Hard to put that moniker on any one song, but this would easily be in my top 5. Easily. Bad ass song - this live version is unbeatable. Perfect.
I'm almost 55 now and still love early Priest.Been listening since 1978.This live performance is simply stunning.
TIM I AM 52 AND HAVE LISTENED TO PRIEST SINCE I WAS 12// I WILL STOP WHEN I AM DEAD///
Now i am 55 , since 78 stained class , i was hooked to JP , best pure metal band , halford its the metal god , that guitar duo , match so perfect, ian its like v8 , and scott travis the perfect addition!
No other Heavy Metal band has the life, passion, and Firepower of Judas Priest!
One of the best most true metal songs ever done, and of course it’s Priest
Back in 1979 I was a total New Wave fan that mostly listened to Devo, The B-52's, Gary Numan, etc. Anyway, I gave this long haired dude a ride home from work and was cranking some Plasmatics* and this dude said, "Pretty cool tunes."
I said, "Thanks...thanks a lot. If you want to play some of your tunes next time, that's cool."
Next day, I gave him a ride home again and he asked if I could play some Judas Priest. "Sure..." (I didn't really want to, though...I'd never heard them before). So...I put in his cassette and louder than f*** I hear the beginning of Rapid Fire and ***Pounding the World like a battering ram...!*** I was blown away....I think I borrowed that dudes Judas cassette for like six months and have been listening to JP ever since. I have seen Judas Priest in concert three times and they are def in my top ten bands.
* Not no "boom boom" style distortion spewing cheap POS car stereo...I had a Pioneer KP-500 and switched to a Concorde after that. Clean, crisp music that showcases each instrument and puts out super clean watts. Good stuff!
These guys get older, but never slow down. They may not dart across the stage like they did thirty years ago, but they're still going strong. You look up Heavy Metal and there's a picture of Judas Priest under the definition.
Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, K K Downing, Ian Hill, Scott Travis.
Killer line-up opening with a killer song!
40+ years of recording and touring all over the planet and stil kicking the shit outa everyone out there. True Metal Gods.....Metal Icons.
Yep no new or recent metal has this much feeling or energy period! Old priest and maiden is that sheeeat!
They're not just Metal Gods - they're Metal TITANS (the titans were there before the Gods). 🙂
Absolutely beautiful!!
Probably my favorite Judas song. What a beautiful, sharp, powerful voice!
Keep rocking forever, fellas!
The Song that originated thrash metal
Scott Travis is the best thing that ever happened to this band. Nails...just NAILS. He deserves WAY more camera time on this video. What precision and power!
Yer High dude
@@bobbyblenio4571 Whatta stellar reply. You should be proud.
I was about 8 years old when I first heard this song....I'll be 45 next month and it still rocks
Copy and paste
John Hughes I'll be 60!
Priest!
I'm 45 I love Judas priest
42 y presente con Judas priest
IMO Priest are right up there with Sabbath as the most important band in the history of heavy metal. Sabbath got the ball rolling, Metallica may have sold the most albums and Maiden may be more popular. But Priest took what Sabbath started and gave metal a kick in the ass by creating more up tempo guitars and drums, and add the vocals of Halford (unmatched in metal) and you have the essential heavy metal band. They were the first metal band to evolve and create a wider acceptance to this style of music by not sticking to one formula. All of their songs have a different style and approach that I dont think can be disputed, and thus opened up the genre to a more diverse area to write songs in. Plus they created the look and image with the whole leather and studs approach that basically any non metal fan identifies the genre as being. I cant remember where I read it but there was a poll done by some magazine about 20 years ago asking various musicians in the metal genre to describe the quintessential metal band and Priest were named 93% of the time!!
Priest and Maiden will always be co-kings of metal in my eyes.
I agree with that. They are my favorite metal band. Sure I love Iron Maiden, Accept, Metallica, Metal Church,
Testament, Saxon, etc But for my all time favorite metal band-JP all the way. It has been that way since I was 13
and I'm 52 and still blasting it on my stereo.
thebreeze12 so true, and it's sad how some can't see that. don't get me wrong, maiden, sabbath, metallica all were influential and great in there ways, but without priest we wouldn't have many of that bands we had back then or today. Imo, sabbath was no.1 in influence, then priest. after that, you can make your own list. Priest forever!!! 🤘🤘
Tyler Sanfino I agree ,Sabbath, Judas, Motorhead, Scorpions. Metallica its newer, Slayer, Sodom. are good metal bands. too!! (IMO)). Maiden I like it a lot but with Di Anno and Clive! !!
Stained Class is better than anything Maiden ever released, and right up there with Sabbath's best, only it's a progression of it. Priest is the band that perfected and purified real heavy metal..
On reflection this show has to be one of their best live recorded performances, the sound quality is top notch...
Nope, check out the bottom end on Epitaph bro.....🤘🤘🤘
@@troutmeplica9272 : Watched that at the cinema on release, the sound was really bad, Painkiller was particularly bad, it's not even JP, first shows with a hired gun on guitar.
I agree they were on top if their game at this show.
The kings of metal
A mis 14 años conocí a esta joya de banda, hoy tengo 41 años y sigue siendo parte de mi vida. Larga vida al Metal.!🤘🏼
Simply the best! 50 years old and loved Priest for 4 decades!
This song makes me want to run through a brick wall
This concert video is absolutely brilliant, I've watched it ALOT. The whole of heavy metal owes a debt to these guys
.Who can deny the awesomeness of this? Probably my favorite metal band of all time. Been a fan since 78'
Me, too.👍
I am 64 and still rocking out. I start listening to my moms 78 rpm records. I have a massive record collation that has been collected over the years. That includes both Beatles butcher cover albums. Etc. JP has always got tons of playing time over the years and still going strong.
Love Priest. Never shredding for shredding's sake - always soul in every solo.
Priest one of my all time faves, luckily I grew up in the 80's (born in 1964) and I enjoyed them in their heyday. I am pretty sure of all the hard rock and heavy metal concerts I attended during my HS years I saw more Priest shows than any other band I liked at the time.
A Pure Heavy Metal Masterpiece from a legendary Band! Period.
Best metal band ever....." hell bent for the Priest"...
J'ai 58 ans et j'écoute encore Judas Priest et ce depuis l'âge de 16.
Travis' impressive drumming clearly adds power to their sound.
"Second to none'' Says it all!!! Priest Rules!!!
60 years old and still get hyped when I hear the Priest! One of... if not THE best live metal bands I've ever seen! They are SO tight and Rob Halford IS the Metal God!
Musical wizardry, pure eargasm. The Metal God did it again!
One of the best tracks in all of metal.
Still, this song never gets old. This and Ace of Spades are the birth of the Big 4
This is heavy metal!
58 will NEVER stop listening to Priest! Music has been with me since I was 15!
Respect for JUDAS PRIEST he is the man of heavy metal.
So excellent. This might be the best live Priest I have ever seen. Love it. Still a little sad because this was the line up of Excellence end of an era
A great song from one of the all-time greatest metal bands!
The metal gods at their best!!!!! One of the all time greatest Priest tunes
Second to none.
rapid fire twin guitar..thumbs up..
Pure And Original Heavy Metal ... As It Should Be ... Judas Priest Rules Dudes!!!
What two great guitarists - everyone in band is spot on!
My first Priest album was "Screaming for Vengeance". Bought in in 1982. Then, I heard "British Steel". I was blown away. I promptly, as I could afford it at the time (I was 15), went and purchased the entire back catalog. But this is the song on this album that really got to me.
Metal Gods
Judas Priest the Kings of Metal.Rob Halford is a living legend.
Still the best live band I've ever seen, and I've seen them all. Their sound has a physical presence to it, it's so thick and loud and heavy that you brace yourself for the next song like when someone is running towards you and about to hit you
Maiden is just as loud but they don't have that thick, heavy sound like Priest does, they have more high end/treble
I'll never forget the first time I saw them. I walked in a little late and couldn't even get to the lawn seats. Of course they were doing Hell Bent for Leather. Lol.
Probably because Priest does it in E flat these days. Gives a heavier sound than Maiden's standard E tuning.
Don't take it as a complain though. I can live without Maiden but not Priest.
I love the Priesthood as I refer to The Almighty Judas Priest. Rob Halford no apologies, not give a shit attitude, & vocals. Dam his range is phenomenal, clarity, notes, octives, shrills, power, depth, & still able to harmonize. But I love Steve Harris song writing skills, his story telling, spelling out poetry, history lessons, but most of all I love Maidens "Battle Front" guitar intros : 3-4 guitars in sequence & that thick bass line & Nico's beating the shit out of those drums...epic L-O-N-G songs...& Eddy is pretty badass tooooo !!! My 2 favorite Heavy Metal bands with early Metallica & Motorhead & Dio running up 3 & 4.. 5 \m/ \m/
@@jacktheripper8463 I'm cool with King Halford being a Queen, Halford voice is friggin amazing, he is loosing it a bit probably from being a life long smoker. Halford still kills it with "PAIN KILLER" Judas Priest has been touring for over 45 yrs. & still rocking. Maiden just started what they said might be their last tour...Long live HEAVY METAL UP IN IRONS !!!!
It's Rob's voice that makes them heavy metal LEGENDS
They kept getting better as time past more refined. Robs voice and amazing guitar work from these Metal Gods. For myself does not get any better then KK and Glenn teaming off.
I heard this album my junior year in high school when it came out and I was blown away. I've listened to Priest ever since! All I can say is THANK YOU!
Who are the knuckleheads that gave thumbs down. Priest rules, this song kicks ass, and Halford can still sing it well.
Sounds great what a awesome metal band!! This song not easy live. They crush it long live priest!!!
Amazing performance ... These guys are really great alive !!!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
One of my Favorite heavy metal songs. The definition of if you ask me.
ON YOUR KNEES HEADBANGERS ,AND SALUTE TO THE PRIEST OF THE HEAVY FU..METAL THAT BAND IS AWESOME , LONG LIVE THE PRIEST
javymetal harder fall to your knees and repent if you please
You first on your knees rob will thank you lol
aye
They were on top of their game at this concert from all the clips of it I have seen on You Tube. Probably knew it was near the very end of their time performing together with KK, Glen, Rob, and Ian. This was always my absolute favorite album by them, I think it was their absolute peak as a band.
what a fuckin opening ,,, danm first words out of his mouth : ponding the world like a battering ram
Tipton ...Downing....second to none....
PRIEST`S POWER LEVEL IS OVER 9000 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They’ve performed this song so many times and this still might be my favorite version of this song!!
This song has so much attitude! I love it!
One of there best songs!
*their
J.P. in the HOF! About time for this very polished metal band. Been making music and touring for fifty years plus. Congrats boys. Well deserved.
It DOES NOT get better than this!
They ripped the f'n living hell out of this,,, mind you I saw them 3 times 30 years ago!
The iconic heavy metal band performing the iconic metal song! Long live The Priest!
Best riff ever in its simplicity!
For me, this is the best song among all of Judas Priest.
abraços do Brasil. 🤘🎸🇧🇷
This is the proof that God must be a Heavy Metal-Fan
You can see him there on stage - holding the microphone!
É para isto que pago internet...... a perfeição dos deuses do metal!🤘🤘🤘🤘🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
The line between denying your age and DEFYING your age is wide and it's obvious which side of it they're on 🤘
this is so flawless it makes me weep every time
What a voice 👍
Scott Travis is pounding those drums smooth.......................Hell Yeah.....priest........
Daniel Ronin Hernandez yeah I was at this very concert he definitely was pounding he also got pissed I noticed waving up at the crowd like to tell the crowd to get off their asses I know I had a great time screaming at the top of my voice I was way in the back and snake my way up on the side pretty close to the stage security guards are dicks at the Hard Rock but that wouldn't stop and me just like the old days as long as I get in I know I'm going to get as close as possible without disrespecting other people one more cool thing was ending with Freewheel burning instead of hell bent for leather they played the entire British steel album and then had another set with the other songs
I learned to play British steel by watching this DVD
The twin guitar attacks and vocals are SECOND TO NONE
Bad to the BONE sounds fucking AWESOME
Insane headbanging here.....
I don't headbang nowadays as i am prone to concussions. Let me tell you about and incident
I was at a party they had metal music on full volume. I head banged the whole night and had a concussion, since that day i have never head banged. Similarly once i got hit by football which gave me a concussion. So, i can't head bang but i still flop my head a little but nothing much.
Blasting the cannons of truth to each man of this earth!
You might wanna check your history, priest came out in the late 60's, and Halford's voice is still primo, 50 years of heavy fucking metal. Ozzy voice, along with Dickinson's faded years ago, that's why Rob Halford has been named the metal god , years ago! Judas fucking priest. There is no substitute, they are and will always Will be the greatest heavy metal band that have ever lived. Hands down
This song (Rapid Fire) along with "Victim of Changes", among others. Were the ones that made me love the music of this band ... Luckily, I have had the opportunity to see them several times!
Nada supera la creación de este tema ,, estos humanos son increíbles. Si, esos 4 humanos sobre el escenario. JUDAS PRIEST!
Excellent concert!
I saw JP in 1986, 1988, 2005, 2011. Even seen HALFORD in 2003 and 2010. And now got my JP ticket for June 2019. This band is timeless. \m/
I only heard this song about a month ago and it is punk rock and thrash metal and I f-----g LOVE it
There are lots of great bands to listen, but when in doubt: Judas Priest. Just sounds so fucking good! 🤘
True Metal!
45 years old. Discovered the Priest only last year. To think I might have never have known it. 😓
I wish I go back in time and see that concert ❤
