    Just a note to all first-time viewers: I missed MANY Easter eggs this first time through. At the end of the playlist you'll find two "addendum" videos where I cover (almost) every one I missed in parts 1 through 8. I appreciate you pointing out ones that I missed in the comments, since some may have still slipped through the cracks, but you may want to wait till you see all the videos first just in case. Thanks for all your support!

      @Abelhawk, here're some answers to your questions:
      9:45 Easter eggs of Chapter 5:
      1) Inside of city there is marketplace where you can buy various items, while north of Garithos' base (inside of walls) you can find Mercenary Camp, where you can hire Bandits, Forest Trolls, and Kobolds.
      2) Outside of city, just across the river, there is goldmine and Goblin Observatory (where you can hire Shredders and Zeppelins). Just south of goldmine there is camp of Bandits, Rogues and Rogue Wizards that can be slain or possessed.
      3) When you possess Peasants, you can build your Human base and units. Only in this mission you can train Gryphon Riders. In the next chapter you CAN'T.
      4) {This mission is very similiar to *The Starcraft* _True Collors_ , where Kerrigan can destroy only one of TWO sleeping bases, until wake up.}
      10:01
      1) East of Sylvanas' and Varimathras' base there is two Red Dragons that are burning ruined farm with *[Dragonbreath]* that can be slain; there are also burrels (where you can find [Belt of Giant Strength +6]).
      2) North of Garithos' base you can find Sasquatches that are holding [Scroll of Beast]. When you (playing as Garithos) cross the bridge and enter to City, you can find **Lordaeron City Mutants** and *_Jacobs Reject_* near (destroyable) City Stash.
      *13:04** The title of final chapter is reference to "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R. R. Martin*

    Abelhawk, if you still are having trouble on the last mission I accidentally discovered a trick that will make it childsplay using an item from a previous mission in a rather unorthodox fashion. In chapter 4 "Return to Northrend" After you kill Sapphiron you'll find an item called 'Horn of the Clouds' (I think) that allows you to cast the 'cloud' ability. While it may not seem very useful, this item will prove critical in the final mission. It may seem tempting to drop when you have such fantastic items to find in Azjol Nerub, but you have to keep it. When you get to the final mission take control of 1 obelisk to hold until you destroy Illidan's allies. Also, it is critical that you have at least 1 spirit tower in defense of the obelisk. Now once that is done, GIVE THE HORN TO ILLIDAN! If you drop it in front of him he will pick it up. Then when he attacks your tower, instead of attacking your units, heroes, or even transforming into a demon, he will simply use the 'cloud' ability over and over on your tower, allowing you to easily kill him and fend off his attacks (the cloud ability lasts 30 seconds which coincidentally is the Horn's cooldown time). This buys you plenty of time to destroy his allies and build your forces to conquer the rest of the obelisks. Let me know if it works out for you.

      This Mission is really easy, even on hard. Illidan won't take the fourth Obelisk if you don't take more than one. So just grab one Obelisk and then proceed to kill the Naga and Blood Elf Bases. Necros, Abos and Meat Wagons worked for me and make this mission an absolute joke.

    • @krunokovacek7182
      @krunokovacek7182 Před 6 lety +24

      Hi guys, I read some comments and I see that some still have difficulties in last mission of undead campaign. It is actually real easy if you know how to trick the system ;
      1.In last mission the less troops you have, Illidan will march with less troops. Just use heroes, and then Illidan will go for the obelisk alone.
      2.Arthas can become mightiest hero in the game using a great trick - whenever Arthas is activating obelisk, kill him- after reviving on the altar he will have more agility points - he will have faster attack rate and more armor. I got him to the point, where arthas had about 800 armor ;) ;) ;)
      It is more difficult to destroy naga and blood elves base using just 2 heroes, but it is possible if you are creative. Arthas can heal and also consume burrowed Anub'arak's beatles ;)

    @thesilentstorms- Před 7 lety +96

    I've heard that the final Arthas vs Illidan cinematic was originally supposed to be a movie-like cinematic like the rest but they ran out of time and used units instead. I've also heard that there are unique units of Arthas and Illidan in the files that can act out the fight on a map, but I've never even found a picture of someone doing that. I was hoping to see that here and hope you might make a video about that in the future.
    Also the game manual tells you exactly what units you should have in your army when you try to blitz Illidan's three towers, this is how I was able to beat it my first time.

    • @Abelhawk
      @Abelhawk  Před 7 lety +21

      Yeah, there are "Cinematic Illidan" and "Cinematic Arthas" units in the game files, though for some reason I've never really thought about placing them on the map to see how they work. I'll have to look into that.
      It definitely makes sense that the cinematic was changed from a full-blown cutscene, but I kind of like the transition from it to the final cinematic of Arthas's ascent.

    I finished TFT for the first time TODAY, in HARD mode! Weird how a couple of hours later I randomly found your awesome videos!
    I remember trying to finish it a decade ago, in normal mode and then with reduced difficulty with no success, and during all this time a part of me was feeling a bit of a failure for not being able to :P Then, after years, I just started both games again in hard mode, and you know what, it wasn't that bad! The general "secret" is just to hold on at 50 food until you finish all gold mines, then build a HUGE 100/100 food army to take over the enemy base. If the enemy has multiple bases (such as in the last mission), repeat for each base. Also, as it was said, Illidan's attacks are proportional to how much food you're using, so just keep it low. In the end I was just wandering around the map with 120k worth of gold, making experiments with units, facing the occasional Illidan's attack ;)

    You meet lil' timmy when you saved him from the gnolls. Next time you see him, he and his siblings succumbed to the plague (or maybe you killed them so you could see their ghosts in that graveyard :O)and turned into ghouls... and you had to kill him. So the next time you (do not) see him, he's a ghost (he's from the countryside, so i guess he likes sheep). Now the ghost of little timmy followed kael, who went to outland to illidan, and than back to northrend. He's been places and there are many who could have ressed him. Kill'jaden in outland, arthas,kel'thuzad, sillvanas, or even ner'zhul himself in northrend. But, taking your idea, his mother, in grief after losing 5 childeren, might have went and learned goblin engineering so that she could make a little mechanical timmy to sate her sorrow or something... learning engineering of a race not native to human kingdoms might have taken some time, so she needed some kind of substitute.... something like penguin or whatever....afterwards, she and little mecha timmy evacuated with jaina, and went to kalimdor. And in Wow, it could just be his now old, soulless, ghoul corpse just being reanimated by whomever does that in stratholme. Man i tied this shit up like a ribbon!

    There were a few things in Dreadlord's Fall I found interesting on my last couple of playthroughs of Warcraft III.
    First, there's a marketplace that's near one of Garithos's bases that functions like it does on normal melee maps in that it gradually gets better items over time. As a result, you can get things like Claws of Attack +12/15, Khadgar's Gems of Health, Pendants of Mana, etc. I ended up stocking up Sylvanas and Varimatharas's inventories while I was finishing up.
    Second, I finally managed to take out Garithos before Detheroc on my last playthrough of this level, which I had never done before (I made a point to challenge myself last time) so I heard something I hadn't previously. This is probably common knowledge but if you beat Garithos first, Sylvanas says something about it being fun to destroy the Humans, but that Detheroc is the real target. However, if you beat Detheroc first, she doesn't say anything. I just thought it was interesting that they gave her an extra line of dialogue there.

    I finished the final level of W3 a few times, but yeah those cheetah-like enemies are frustrating, but it's a really good idea to make a camp near the obelisks , because you can make fresh troupes there if they are killed in the "waves" of naga or blood elves. If the earthquakes destroyed the base it would have been more challenging and longer in turn. It's one of my favorite levels with the final one from Reign of Chaos, I like the fact that all in all Warcraft 3 (Reign+Frozen) has a lot of different types of game in it, not just the simple build your town , raise an army and kill the enemy.

    I think at least with Warcraft the idea of possession is more the idea of puppetry. They still have their mind their memories their actions their thoughts and how they act and respond but there's a secondary controlling Force pushing them to your will. The unit is like a living puppet the banshee is the strings and you are the puppet Master.

    I too wish the lost Timmy mini quest would’ve been kept in- for character reasons. However the player interprets it, it’s a strong moment, Arthas getting a circlet of nobility for returning a lost child. I think it’s a reminder of the noble character he used to be- and maybe a sign that he’s recovering some of that lost kindness. The beginning of his campaign does feature him wanting to be a good ruler to his kingdom, in a very twisted way. Whatever he felt, if anything, he did still save someone, without being promised anything in return.

    Hey Abelhawk: Its not that they redconned Balnazar back to life if im not mistaken. Its just that demons only die when killed in the twisting nether (? or their homeworld or so). So Balnazar was killed there but his soul remained and he was reborn.

    • @Abelhawk
      @Abelhawk  Před 6 lety +2

      Yeah, I was mainly talking about how they retconned Varimathras's intentions. In the campaign, it's clear that he reluctantly does it to appease Sylvanas, but in WoW they made it so he secretly kept him alive or something. I dunno, I may be overthinking it.

    • @cr128
      @cr128 Před 6 lety +7

      That lore about demons wasn’t established in WC3, so in WC3 it is implied that whenever a demon is killed, they are actually permanently dead (usually killed by powerful magic, such as another demon or Frostmourne, but not always). That stuff was retconned in later so that they could bring back demonic characters that had already been killed.

    I remember when i played an older version of Frozen Throne, once i somehow managed to get Anub'barak armor to 46. He barely took any damage.
    Also the Ascent to the Upper Kingdom, after Arthas is reunited with Anub'arak, there is one of rocks that can be destroyed, it makes the platform puzzle 'freeze', so you can go back and kill few things for Ring + 5 armour.
    Plus last mission got bunch of stuff, not considering things you get from destroying Kael'Thas and Vashj base, near Naga base to the left, there is bunch of polar bears, and upon killing them there is Khadar's gem of health +300.

    Hey Abelhawk, I read this comment for another video of secrets on Warcraft III, im not sure if its true but I think it would worth the shot to try it in case you are interested.
    Adriano CHace 4 months
    In the map of the Penguin King, in the upside of the map there is a tuskgar town, with little penguins. You can take possession of all the penguins with your banshees (one of them is called "Little Timmy"). And with another unit (that penguins can not attack) you can break the ice pillar in the right side of the fences, then you will can take out the penguins.
    Then, if you go with all that penguins to the Penguin King, he and the little penguins explodes, and the king leaves you an item.
    It is like the penguin toy, but this doesn't invoke an useless penguin creep, this invoke a Penguin King for a shor time. He has frozen breath (really is similar a Ice Wyrm, but if I remember well his resistance is like an Abomination). The best part is that you can invoke it always with the item, and it is really a nice help in the next map inside Azjol Nerub ruins.
    This is the original video: czcams.com/video/g6PrHUbNoJ4/video.html
    It would be interesting if you try it and see if its true (and of course make a video about it hehe)

    • @Abelhawk
      @Abelhawk  Před 7 lety +3

      No... unfortunately that can't be true. I would've seen the triggers that cause the penguins to explode and stuff, not to mention the penguin king-summoning item in the game's files. I wish the game had more elaborate Easter eggs like that that were really hard to figure out, but as you can see throughout this series, most secrets are fairly simple to find.

    I beat the last level on hard difficulty but I was saving and loading alot also I couldn't destroy the blood elves so I would let an acolyte haunt the closest gold mine to thier base and collect gold from it
    The blood elves always attacked it then went back to thier base and I kept doing it till the end of the mission
    For the fights with illidan and his army I used mainly crypt fiends, 2 frost wyrm 2 banshees and 1 necromancer
    Necromancer is so helpful in killing neutralizing illidan with cripple
    Still it was very hard and it took me about 4 or 5 hours
    Just always be on the lookout for illidan's arrival with shades

    timmy is also present in multiple locations in WoW, for example: in new stormwind, selling cats for 50 silver.
    timmy is also present in many of the triggers in RoC, usually just well hidden empty maps named 'Timmy'.
    timmy is also present in the custom game map 'Skibi's Castle TD' if you pick the demon race, and this map is made by Blizzard. Wich made me believe he is in fact a demonic child.
    Timmy is also supposably present as an easter egg in the background of the WoW movie being locked in one of the cages just when the orcs invade azeroth. He's shown as a little blonde boy wearing a blue shirt, trousers, and looking right into the camera. While the rest of the prisoned people are being stressed out, he stays still and looking into the camera, even when the cage starts moving

    Last Undead mission on hard isn't bad at all if you take a systematic approach. Take 4 gold mines, just defend till 10k gold on no/low upkeep, always have 2 destroyers in your army to devour magic the Naga frost armor. Then have a 100 food army ready, wait till just after Illidan attacks, go destroy an allied base, rinse and repeat until only illidan's northeast base is left. Only take 2 obelisks at most until you're actually ready to win, anything more than that is a waste of resources. There's so much gold it should never even be necessary to stop harvesting even in high upkeep.
