My husband was a doctor, but his great passion was hunting. Against my advice, in 2000 he bought a partnership in a hunting reserve in South Africa. So you're going to have to actually pick up some real history books and educate yourself on the history of what is now south Africa , what it was like when the Dutch farmers moved there and bought not stole the barren desert plots that they worked very hard to make into land that could produce food. Food that's been feeding everyone not just themselves. It wasn't until after they had built a place that flourished that black Africans from the north decided that they were wanted all that without having to do all the hard work and science needed to keep these farms going. This is exactly why countries like Zimbabwe suffered huge famine after they forcefully took the farms from the white farmers who had been farming them for generations, without any compensation, even though they legally bought the land.

I often wonder how he would have murdered me, he was caught the second time trying to get in. Forty or so years ago it would have been better for the white South Africans who built the country to divide, partition the country, rather than turn the whole place over to the blacks, many who came from the north after the whites came in the 17th century and ensuing centuries. Of course the white areas - e.g. The Cape, Western Cape and the white areas in the north would be prosperous regions years later today and the black area would have gone to pot, due to lack of much work ethic. A partitioned white area of South Africa would prosper and be like say West Germany was in comparison to the black partitioned area diminishing and deteriorating into say like East Germany was. Very real, they all got life in prison. But the problem is that the family is gone, and the idea of consequence is not for justice anymore, it's meant to set a precedent for those considering doing these things in the future, but the government is very quiet about these things and they do just enough to shut white people up. The truth is that racial violence is incited and it helps take the blame away from the government when impoverished people want answers as to why they are still destitute so many years after black rule. How can farmers possibly be robbing millions of people from being middle class when they don't even have an education system firmly in place? Even if they did redistribute the land it still wouldn't provide answers firstly because 38 million people can't get 2000 hectares each, secondly we need farmers to sustain us...we are not hunter gatherers anymore we can't live off the land non commercialy...there's just too many of us, if the land does not provide mass food security we will all starve and the economy will collapse....farming might not be 80 percent of the economy, but it's an economic enabler.
Very moving documentary. The reenactment is done in a very tactful way. Showing the horror of the situation, but we are still aware that it is reenactment. Very emotional. As far as I know, at least in this case the perpetrators were identified, cought and sentenced to life sentences (apart from one not directly involved in murder). What happens with the perpetrators now? Are they showing any remorse? How did they explain killing an innocent child who would not even be able to testify against them?

I lived there age 8-10 in 1981-83 Transvaal area, the names have changed now like Bethel? my mother was nearly attacked by a black man in an old farmhouse property we rented there but luckily he got 'spooked' She never told me untill years later. Thankfully we came back to the uk but I loved the country and reminisce often about our time there. Stay safe.
