Ozone was kind enough to send us a Rapi-dos 15m speedwing so that we can fly in more wind conditions (Thanks Matt!). So this was the first time we got to try it.
Gemma and I decided to groundhandle it first to get a feel for the wing and then progressively get into stronger and stronger wind.
It's a very fun wing to fly but the sensations and feel of flying it are for sure very different to paragliding. Also feels like it requires quite a different style of flying so I'm looking forward to flying it more in the future :)

One more subscriber! I'm starting paragliding classes here in Brazil! and I'm really enjoying it. Thanks a hug!
Beleza 👌
Love it, great tips. I'm not (yet) into flying but i gess this speedwing is the perfect tool for my windy beaches here at north east Brazil (Natal - RN)
Yes, happy Gemma, nice work Andra! thanks for the nice vids too!
This man is very instructive and calmly brave. I am trying to learn about paragliding even though I shall probably not actually do it, and these speed wings would be a disaster for me. Great video.
I am very happy you tested a speedwing. It is about time to stop be the "dark side" of paragliding and just be a different side. As always a very nice video...
Great clip..you remembered me to bring also my speedwing with me when flying to Portugal tomorrow 😅...maybe I’ll see you at the beach ✌️
Ooh 😮 DANG IT that bad boy looked fast, u were swooping like a parakeet after 6 cans of red bull 😂😂 another GREAT vid 🙌🙌
Great video. Thank you. I recently joined. Paragliding school here in the San Francisco Bay Area. It’s a lot of fun
Awesome job! So now you guys only need to find something to fly on the raining days :D Ps. Lovely sound track!
You have a need, a need for speed! Welcome to the dark side! 😈
When you're flying an 8m Ozone then you got a Speed wing LOL thanks for posting
I have an older designed speed wing that I cannot find any manuals for. It's a "FireBird Checker" that I acquired from an estate liquidation. I think I'm way heavy for it, so I've only kited it a few times in very strong winds. But with conditions like you enjoyed here I'd be tempted to give it a whirl.
I wouldn't call a 15m² a "FAST speedwing", but I still take your meaning... ;-)
Flying a 13m² Mirage RS+, great little wings!
Yeah I know they get a lot smaller but for someone who never flew one before and is 90kg with trimmers out it feels crazy fast!
@@AndreBandarra1 my first speed wing flight was 13m² @ 105kg, I know the feeling... 😂 I think one of those flights is public on my channel!
brinquedo bacana!!!!! agora ja terá como descer rapido da montanha... saudações!
Got to have a speedwing in your arsenal!
So cool
Good stuff. I didn’t know that Borat do gliding.
Would love to hear the differences between the rapidos and the seed. Sizes, handling characteristics, etc? Excellent video yet again!
Thanks Nick! The size is quite similar, 12m projected. Handling feels quite different, Seed doesn't have trimmers, the brake range on the rapidos is longer. They both need a hell of a lot of wind to stay up :D I don't think I've flown either of them enough to give good informed feedback though
Andre & Gemma, thanks for a nice overview! It would be great if you will do some videos about speedflying.
Thanks, we'll try!
Looks like so much fun :)
Dang this wing looks hell of a fun ! Do you have any speed wing to advice to a beginner (around a hundred fly)
Nope! I'm a beginner too! Just go easy, big wing, and little steps at a time
have fun and many many flights on a big wing (maybe 500), before going to those racers (for alpine speedflying at least)
OK, now I know what I don't have to try! *laughs I like it chilled and easy going! ;) But it's fun watching it! :D
I really wanna try a speed wing. Got some nice slope spots that would be great in high winds
first of all, fantastic video, as always. I do have a question though that you might have some expertise in. You opened the glider on the sand, and you also do a ton of your training on the beach (this includes my favorite GHJ series). Do you ever get sand into the gliders? and if you do how do you get it out? anytime i get some in i can usually flip it upside down and wiggle most of it out but some always seems to be stuck in there. Love your videos and keep it up!
Thanks for the support! Yeah we do fly them upside down to get most of it out but if you really want to get all the sand out just lay it out on a grassy field and go through the cells one by one and get the sand out manually
@@AndreBandarra1 Thanks!
Do you see the SEED and this wing construction inside the wing comparable or this one has more reinforcement? Thank you
they are very very different wings
It's always amazing to me how short those hills/bluffs/whatever look from the bottom, and how freakin tall they look from the top, even on video...self preservation instincts are difficult to overcome. ;-)
I think you've created a wing hogging "monster" there...you asked for it.
Lovely groundhandling 😂 LOL
Next video barrel rolls down the alps?
Is this like flying an overloaded paraglider?
(Translated by Google). How well you what you spend. Congratulations. Great video💪🤪
Dear please, how much is the price of the plane in dollars?
Crotch hugger harness!
Sooo i have a 7 year old thats super interested in paragliding. I want to get her a wing and i was thinking a speed or mini wing would act like a paraglider wing with a 60lb pilot..... I was thinking i could get a wing like this for her and on windy days too windy to ride mine i could fly hers and she could watch and pick shells with mom. Not a lot of information on kids flying.
For groundhandling on light days should be fine for her or for you flying on windy days but don’t think it would be the right wing for her to learn to fly. But yeah for ground handling it’s fine. Funnily enough I’m selling that exact wing
Hallo Andre! 1st, sorry for my bad english. I would like to make a trip to Portugal next year. What is the best time in spring for flying at Foz do Arelho? Do you think this coast is good for pragliding-beginners? Greetings from Germany
Hi! Your English seems pretty good! I'm not sure to be honest as the years vary a lot and the weather is unpredictable but typically April can be quite wet and May-June is gets nicer. We might have some groundhandling retreats next year around that time too and yes, the dunes for beginners are as good as it gets
@@AndreBandarra1 May is perfect.
I think we will certainly meet there next year.
I know Portugal quite well. I traveled there very often. Have friends there. A question by the way. Where is your home on your 2nd Channel with VW Golf Mk1? All the best for you.
@@userpad10 Near Miranda do Douro :) It's my dad's place
Be careful, its addicting
Which harness is that?
Nice
Hey Andre, what wing loading are you flying at? 5.5kg per m²?
I'm not sure if you use projected or flat area but I'm 95kg AUW
@@AndreBandarra1 flat area, so 15m. The total takeoff weight divided by that would be 6.3?
@@conradobuhrer7916 sounds about right
Gemma glider is very smal
where exactely has this been produced?
Praia da Gralha, Portugal
@@AndreBandarra1 thx. We'll go there. In june.
If you're going to "try it out" you should try it out from the Area you're going to take off from... Wind conditions probably a lot different on the beach than they are Upstairs... Just sayin' thanks for posting
Very true! Did you watch the whole video though? :)
Could someone start on that wing?
why don't people wear back protection w speed wings?
I think everyone choses their own level of balance between comfort and safety.
This wing is snow skaiting bord i thing
Like a fighter pilot.
Doesn't look that small!!
