Thanks to your recommendation I’ve just bought the M50mark 2 camera and the accessories you’ve spoke of for our channel 🙌🏼
A lot of great recommendations
Thank you!
Hi Mark, I like your review videos. I feels like you are always straight forward to the topic and provide only necessary info for the audience which is great and time efficient. And I see that your video quality has been consistently increasing in the past few years. Same time it would be interesting if you could provide more content on technique wise topic rather than only gear. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for your kind words! Yes, I totally agree with the need for more technique videos, that was my intent from the outset and I have drifted away from that lately. I will try to do more of those videos in the future, thanks for asking.
Hi. Mark, Thank you for your recommendations.
Great vid as always.
Thank you so much!
Fantastic video. Very valuable information. Thank you so much.
P.S. I did buy that terrific camera bag through your link. Thanks again.
Thank you so much!
Thanks! Your videos are very useful to learn more about my M50 and what accessories i buy.
The next thing on my wish list is a good UV Filter.
Unfortunately the link here does not work in the europe amazon shop.
The only question I have which brand and type of filter do you recommend.
This is a great list. I ordered my M50 Mark II before seeing this video, but after watching the first few minutes, I immediately ordered some of the exact accessories you recommended. Question about the lens hood: is it supposed to snap on over the UV filter? I'm used to screw-on lens hoods for my old Nikon DSLR, so at first I thought I must have gotten a bad product (or that the lens hood wasn't compatible with the lens while the UV filter was on), but after fiddling with it for awhile it does seem to snap on okay--just feels very awkward doing that. Related question: what is the proper orientation of the lens hood? I'm assuming the longer blades should be at the top and bottom of the lens, but I'm not really sure. Thanks!
I only use UV filters in windy beach type conditions. Just don't want that cheap piece of glass in the way. Honestly a scratch to the front of your lens will kill it's resale value but almost never does much damage to the final image. Scratch the rear element is another story, that will ruin your images. Watch Chris Nichols take a drill to the front of a lens and then get good results from it. Not sure if he did that with DPreview or The camera store but he did it and it was amazing :). I like the looks of that lowepro bag. I have the M6II and a few lenses and it looks perfect for that as well.... I also have the smallrig for the M6II and love it...Thanks....
Very informative and have a few items ready to purchase. Is there some spare batteries/chargers you recommend? Would just suggest just going with canon to purchase these
I wondered if you could help me with any tips of a matte box for my canon m50 mark II with EF-M 15-45? Sorry for my bad English 😅
perfect video for my camera...
Great to hear!
great video
Thanks!
I purchased the small rig tripod last year, and I have no regrets. I need to purchase the wrist strap.
Yeah, I love that thing, I have some tripods that cost 10 times the price, and I still use the SmallRig, it's been great.
Hello, thank you for the informative video! I bought the lens UV filter and lens hood. I'm having trouble installing the lens hood over the UV filter, curious if anyone else has had that issue.
I have had a couple of people say the same, not sure what the issue might be. Is the filter wider than end of the lens? Also make sure the large lens good pedals are top and bottom, not on the sides.
I’ll probably get most of these. Question, if you don’t mind. I have the weebill S. Is there any sort of Mount/adapter you know of that’ll allow me to keep the weebill plate on and move camera to a tripod without having to screw it off? Probably not doable, but thought I’d ask. Thanks!
I think you can get an arca swiss clamp that goes on the gimbal, that will allow you to do this.
Thanks Mark!
You are most welcome.
Thanks for the video. I just wanted to let you know, that it would be nice to have time stamps/ chapters to review the video and find accessories faster.
Maybe you can keep that in mind for the new videos! Keep on doing great work!
Thanks for the tip!
That kills watch time so there is very little incentive to do it
Hi, Got to say I've enjoyed your videos for some time now. I just got the Smallrig and the lens filter. I have Vello lens hood and it will not work with this filter. Just a heads up.
Can you confirm the exact model of filter that was delivered? You are not the first one to say this, they must have changed something since I ordered mine.
Given the 3.5x price difference, what's the reason for recommending the Peak Design strap + cuff combo versus your previous recommendation from Op/Tech?
Functionally, they are not that different, and I still recommend the Op/Tech strap as a great budget option. The Peak Design is a longer, which is helpful for someone tall like me, it's made from better quality materials and does slide around the body nicely when you bring the camera up to your eye.
Hi mark your channel is really underrated.
I also have a question for you, iam a beginner and wants to learn about how to take good shots and wanting to but mark2. But i often heard in photography that it's not the camera, it's the person behind camera responsible for good shots.
So my question is what are those skills i have to learn to really become good at taking photos.
Composition, light, perspective. Just watch every photography tutorial video you can.
Good tutorial! I have a question. I have the M50 Mark ii, can you please tell me how to stop it from cutting off every eight seconds in live view? I went into the settings (Review Duration) and disable the time duration and it’s still shutting off every eight or 10 seconds
I’m not sure. Maybe check the screen off/power saving function, which is seperate from the review function.
Mark what was the adapter/interface you recommended to go along with the Mic-D2? I couldn’t find the video you posted with the prime deals and I forgot to order it when I ordered the mic.
I mentioned one in the video and then corrected it in the comments. I would recommend the presonus audiobox go.
@@markwiemels thank you!
Hey Mark...I still have the original M50, and I'm heading to Australia for a year long solo motorcycle female tour....Question..please advise... I only have the standard lens that came with, what 2 other lens would you take? I have some space on the bike, and want really good pictures scenic as well as up close..besides using my go pros and probably a insta 360 for the moto travels... if you can recommend videos on lens or even the best light weight compact tripod videos..much thanks ..
I would likely take the Sigma 16mm and the Canon 55-200. Sigma for low light and the 55-200 to get those shots of things that are far away.
For close up shots, I'd suggest getting an adapter and getting an old lense (in my case, I got an m42 mount adapter and the Helios 44-2 lens) or for an even cheaper option, there are adapters that could make your kit lens similar to a macro lens. For a well rounded lens that can handle scenic shots and close-up, I'd recommend the Sigma 16mm and that's all you need to be honest, depending on the amount of spare $ you got. Also get a UV filter.
Go with the leash. I tried the light and it was too big.
Mark: Do you have any recommendations for a wireless intervalometer for the M50 markII?
I have not tested any sorry, but the options might be limited. There is an app that will do it, but I"m not sure about a seperate device, as the M50 does not have the same connectivity as many of the other Canon Cameras, so most of the intervalometer wont work.
@@markwiemels Thank you. Since I posted you I found an app called Cascable, which is not free but which can access the M50 and serve many options including ad an intervolameter
what lens would you recommend to get on my m50 mark ii for skate and car cinematic footage
The 22mm lens paired with a gimbal makes for some awesome footage!
Hard one. Start with the kit lens and work out what focal lengths work for you. Watch my "Best Prime Lens" video, the start of that video will help you.
None of the links work for me. 🤔🤨
Didn't see a link for the camera cage am I blind.
The Smallrig cage links can be found with the video czcams.com/video/8ecc6u3uA8c/video.html
I absolutely HATE using the crane M2 S. It has no programmability and barely ever works properly. Maybe I just ended up with a bad one but I would definitely not recommend it.
Which is ebtter m50 ii or m6 ii? I dont use evf
M6 II is better, it’s the top of the line EF-M camera.
@@markwiemels thanks. I've seen your recommendation list of 16 efm lenses. Do you have any video list for non efm that require an adapter/speed booster?
Or is the efm list enough for all scanarios?
I try to stick with ef-m lenses for size. There are enough choice for most things.
Is the tripod plastic or medal just wondering is all
Mostly metal, with a few sturdy plastic parts.
@@markwiemels ok because the ones that are medal based and all have lasted longer then the one that’s all plastic I’ve had
@@Juttyet it’s an exceptionally well built tripod, should last many many years.
Not a very safe camerabag. A friend had hus camera and lenses stolen from that bag. I would NOT recommend tgis bag.
With both zippers down to the corner, like I have done in the video, and side latches in place, it’s almost impossible for a thief to quickly undo the bag, or do it without you knowing. Other than locking the bag, there isn’t anything that is much safer.
probably it's the person not the bag bro
