    Correction on using the "50mm lens" on the full frame vs. crop sensor. It depends on if the lens is DESIGNED for the crop sensor. For example, the Pentax line of lenses has those that are "DA" series which are designed for crop sensor, the "FA" designed for full frame. In both cases, the 50mm DA and FA will cover same area for their respective cameras. The FA lens will function as if it were 75mm on the crop sensor camera since it mounts at the same distance from the sensor. So, the image area overlaps the sensor. The DA lens will vignette on the full frame camera since it is not designed to cover the full frame sensor. Hope this helps!

    I picked up a Falcam Strap Lite and very happy with it. The problem I have with the peck design they use short anchors and when mounted on my Leica M10 where the connection is made it rub and hits the side of the top plate, also they use metal buckles and don't want that hit my cameras. The Falcam strap uses longer anchors and the adjustment of the strap is very nice. I ordered a second for my Q... Love them..

    Software correction can eliminate a lot of defects in lenses. My favorite lightweight/compact package is a Sony A6000 with collapsible 16-50 lens. I use DXO and it corrects the CA and barrel distortion. Although sometimes the barrel distortion is helpful. (Improves the shape of heads/faces near the corners of WA photos.)

  • @samk2407
    @samk2407 Před dnem

    The zero chromatic aberration thing is a characteristic of mirror lenses in general, mirrors don't refract, and refraction is what causes chromatic aberration, they reflect. so in general mirror lenses have none or almost none.

  • @boristahmasian9604

    Mark, I bought the lens when it was on special. I happened to have my cousin's Sigma 85 f1.4 lens at the same time. I compared results and could not tell the difference for a series of portraits I did. The Sigma is faster in focusing. Otherwise, they are very close in image quality. Price difference... huge!!! I still want a Sigma 85 but for now the TTArtisan is my go to lens for portraits. BTW, I am using an A7RIV in APSc mode which gives my 26MP files which is plenty.

      @@bradl2636 I would guess the defect rate would be higher on cheaper 3rd party lenses, seems logical, but the only out of the box failure I have had was that 3k Fuji. • @shang-hsienyang1284

      @mizinoinovermyhead.7523 Před dnem

      The issue is trying to analog our eyes to lenses. They don’t quite work the same. For instance the image plane of our eyes is 3 dimensional where as the image plane of a camera is not.

    • @tanthan04
      @tanthan04 Před dnem

      It's as you say the compression, 50mm and 35mm is the easiest option to recommend closest to where you can just look at something, put a camera next to your eyes and capture a frame of what you're looking at. If you base the lens choice with the FOV then you'll have to explain lens compression to them which is a harder conversation than "well the camera can't see that wide" or "just take multiple pictures"

    • @JJARCHIE
      @JJARCHIE Před dnem

      50mm might be correct when you have tunneli vision

    • @antontaranenko8824
      @antontaranenko8824 Před dnem

      Well, 15 - 16 mm is not exactly what we see, at least what our biological hardware sees, in terms of one eye retina, which more like 42-43mm... It is more accurate to say that 15mm is what our brains perceive, which is combination of both eyes field of view + brain reconstruction of lacking information, which is not actual picture, it is more like feeling that there is something observed...😊😊😊

    • @kevinv.m.94
      @kevinv.m.94 Před dnem

      If you have a DSLR or SLR with a zoom lens covering the 50mm (like an 18-55mm kit lens), try this: Peep at the viewfinder with your right eye while keeping the left eye open. Focus on a subject. Then, from the widest zoom, adjust it slowly until it reaches the end of the zoom, which is probably at 55mm. In the beginning, your right eye sees a small image. But when it reaches somewhere between 45-55mm, the size of the images seen by both eyes is now the same. It is as if you are just seeing normally with both eyes (of course with partial blockage from the frame of the viewfinder on the right eye view). If you go further than that zoom, the view seen by the right eye becomes larger. This happens whether you have a fullframe or crop sensor. I'm not totally sure with EVFs if they are made in a way to match how the eye sees through the frame, but I am sure with DSLRs and SLRs since it is one of the first things I noticed as a beginner: that zooming around 50mm shows proportions that looks like how I see it with my bare eyes through the viewfinder. But of course, if you print it in different sizes, it will not appear the same as how the human eye sees through the viewfinder. The statement that says it is how it is seen by the human eye is most applicable only to how we see it through the viewfinder.

      @@JJARCHIE I have the Sigma 16MM and its really good. If I ever upgrade to full frame, it will need to go though. With the Viltrox, I wont need to upgrade. Its a bit heavier though for sure. Im looking at the Viltrox 13mm for APSC wide angle though. So many options! Glad I left Canon.

      @@myblujl7503 used my friend' Viltrox 16 last time, it worked out great but a bit too wide imo Also as a note - flimsy hood

    Thank you for the review. Watched the whole video even though I’m not in the market for a full frame lens. Heck, I don’t even have the full frame camera 😂 I just noticed, that I learn something new every time I watch your videos, regardless of topic

    Excellent video. I haven't been inspired by a lens video in a while, and so often the photos that people share in their lens reviews look like garbage. These photos are excellent and show what can be done with a good eye.
