  • Today's video is going to be a breakdown of the Arm Triangle Submission in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & MMA and how I would make these 7 adjustments to improve your finishing rate with this submission.
    The Arm Triangle is one of my favorite submissions in BJJ, but like most submissions it can be really tough to finish on a competent opponent when even 1 of these 7 details is slightly off.
    These 7 adjustments made my Arm Triangle game way better, and I hope they do the same for you!
    A lot of these adjustments have come from experience and time. On top of being a coach for a while, there are a few common problem areas where I see my students often struggle.
    Many of these details come as answers to those specific common struggles.
    If you were having trouble finishing the Arm Triangle, then I hope these tips were helpful.
    Thanks for watching.

    Great video, thanks for all the details. Such a deceptively simple choke, but lots of details to mess up, haha.

    Brilliant. My fav judo choke. Kids learn to do this as a holddown in judo, so when they become adults, they often never learn the choke part well enough. Beautiful.

    Great info. Honestly, at 10:00 in the video, your statement about asking your teammate questions about the position/submission was golden. I don't think I've heard that simple advice before. I'm only 5ish months in so I could use some feedback on my technique and hopefully finish a submission for once.

    Do these details work in the gi?

    • @FastFSharp
      @FastFSharp Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yes, I get this all the time. It's my "go to" submission from mount. These details are even more important in the Gi. It's a slow choke though so don't rush it. They may take a few seconds to tap because they may think they're fine but the lack of blood flow will catch up to them.
      If the choke is properly set, you shouldn't have to squeeze your bicep much. The pressure is coming from the head and should crushing down on the arm and neck. Your bicep needs to be tight, but it's not the main part of your body imposing the choke.

    00:32 Dive the shoulder under the chin - go under the chin
    01:23 Get a deeper chocking arm - adjust shoulder if needed
    02:19 Use palm down on choking arm - to remove space
    03:34 Push with your head to remove space
    04:49 Dismount at an angle - Forehead to the ground, lift leg and hook, slide off, push with the whole body
    07:27 Start your squeeze at 70% - ramp up to 100% - don't gas yourself out
    09:34 Get feedback from training partners

    That's really helpful! The bicep grab seems to work great for me but my coach also advises against it, i saw even Ryan Hall and Jordan suggest practicing it without a second arm. With the bicep i can often finish from mount so i usually try it first not to risk being caught in half guard, it also gives me a rest because it's quite stable, and free discomfort for the oponent. If it doesn't work i switch to gable grip and dismount. Does this strategy make sense ?

      @AntoineFabri Před 4 měsíci

      And even this one 10 years ago 😁. Back then you suggested to drop the weight and keep low rather than drive into the oponent: czcams.com/video/VVo66hr8MTI/video.htmlsi=jFvC2vibZrt8orXD

    I like to finish this move with knee on belly. I do this so they can’t roll over their shoulder to escape. It’s how I like to escape this move. I wait till they hope off then I roll backwards over my shoulder.
