  • This video is about a USB AUX Adapter that should allow to play mp3 from a Memory stick on a non USB Radio using the cd-changer.
When I received this I found it not to be working and getting quite hot. The seller requested a video so here it is.
It shows a design error in my unit, it makes the unit become hot, it Draws about 4x the current it normally should.
The 3.3v zener gets overloaded, Voltage is wat above 3.3v allthough the Atmega chip could survive this. The zener, resistors or 5v regulator could fail.
My unit also has an other problem I could not discover.

    Hello
Can I ask you for help?
I have WT-USB same like you...but my model is for OCTAVIA II (I think) and I need recable his 8 pin conector for VW Passat 3BG. It is possible I´m sure (WT-USB boxes is same, diferent is only on wiring at input conector to radio) but i cant find wiring scheme for that pin.
Do you have some photo or something else witch can help me for switch and plug cable to 8pin connector(blue) for VW?
    Thank you very much.

The unit I had seems to have some kind of one wire interface. I do not have any information on connecting radio systems or have any ircuit of this WT-USb device. It could well be different models are available for different models of radio. I found min not to be working on my radio and getting dangerously hot. That is why I made this video.

Not sure if you still watch your comments but I have the same adapter. I used it on an 05 Honda accord and saw that one of the 3 ICs on the back blew. It was the one right behind the step down regulator. I am curious if yours had the same problem.

Hi Eddy, I never got this device working. I did not get any parts blown but I can imagine the step-down regulator ic could be damaged. Because it braws a lot of current.
I threw it away so I can not check and see what part is on the back.

Hi, i bougt wt-usb for my honda but i am facing very annoying problem - when i am using USB stick, it SOMETIMES(WHYYYYYYY????) resets position to beginning -> CD1 track1 and it play everything from beginning. It sometimes resets when i just insert the ingnition keys or starting the engine but it isnt every time. Do you have any clue why it is doing this? thanks

This device is a fine example of crappy Chinese equipment. I guess you could try and put an extra capacitor over the supply voltage nut the whole device seems tot be rubbish, at least the one I got. I also have some Nice Chinese made boards and equipment. A good factory can produce fine products but this one is not one of them.

@@PE1PWF thanks for answer i forgot to reply, i have add 16V 1800uF capacitor (photo here imgur.com/a/3tYuXCw ) but problem still continues and i am not sure if its the same or little bit better. What maximum capacity do you think that i can use? i dont want to blow up whole radio :)

i think that the problem is elsewhere, because i disconnected WT-USB to desolder capacitor(if i see any change), it was laying 2 weeks on my desk, than i have desoldered capacitor and after few days i have connected it and it continue playing where it was before disconnecting, so it store memory when it is totally disconnected for weeks...

Maximum USB memory stick should be 16gb, and you shouldn's store more than 99 songs in each folder.

This was a very cheap made part overheating and having a lot of noise, i change a few part to make it work better but it finally fail only after 4 months, garbage don't waste your money use the PIE or PAC parts for better results
