Within that space and the style of warfare the two would have plenty times of being right on top of each other.
Testimony from snipers in bakhmut say they were no more than 200m away from the Russian line.

There was so much closer fighting by the standard infantrymen in places like bakhmut and who say the Russians were in the very next building.
I’ve seen countless videos of buildings being stormed. Still not one Russian.
I’ve seen them tossing grenades in to pill boxes with no return fire, I’ve seen them storm buildings and killing Russians without seeing the actual Russians.
All you see is the Ukrainians weapon from the point of view of his chest looking down to the ground.
I’ve seen no dead or blurred Russians as they are sweeping rooms.
A lot of these videos are made for moral for people like you who can’t tell the difference between the combat and a propaganda piece. It’s to pick up moral and to show that Ukrainians are still in the fight.
A lot are training videos used to show that they are always on the offensive to make it appear as if they are actively and relentlessly pushing back the Russians.
There is a reason these videos are released and it’s quite obvious.
So don’t tell me about combat and how far away they fight when it all depends on the war, the battles and the engagements themselves.
Just because there is combat on average of 400m doesn’t mean they don’t have close quarters combat. These are averages.
Do you know how averages are calculated?
The close quarters combat never show Russians or when they are advancing or even storming trenches or dug outs.
The nature of the combat and the liberation of these small towns clearing buildings and trenches would yield videos of their opponents.
The Russians always just stay in their dug out when the team arrives, hidden, never being revealed.
Not one throws a grenade out or tries to escape, surrender or makes a last stand and I’ve seen hundreds of these videos.
